Produktutveckling av en storleksreducerbar gästsäng
This report is a result of a degree thesis at Luleå University of Technology together with Stram AB in Växjö. The project aimed to develop a size reducible bed, that gets small when folded and has a new slim design. The development of the new folding bed had the purpose to give Stram AB new ideas of how guest beds can look like and be used in the future. Information about Stram´s products and also information of other similar products on the market was gathered. A visit at a store, internet and interviews gave grater insight of the market, and of customer needs. With that information a demand profile was made. The project was divided into sub tasks that consisted of three basic parts, size reduction of the frame, size reduction of the mattress and size reduction of the bed base. Sketches of all three sub task was made with different problem solving methods. Then weighting methods were applied to the solutions of the sub projects. A final choice of the bed frame was made, and on the basis of that the mattress and bed base was chosen. Then the remaining parts were developed, such as legs or mechanical parts. Everything was visualized in a CAD program called NX6. The new bed was size reduced and got a new slim design. Due to the new bed size, Stram can get 46 beds (instead of currently 22 of the smallest beds) on one transport pallet. Almost any size of mattresses can be transported in a vacuum package, without taking up to much space. The new design resembles Stram AB`s current bed models. The final concept idea satisfies the identified demands and wishes very well and it is recommended that that Stram AB should do some mechanical calculations if they want to realize the concept
