Kvinnomisshandel- faktorer som inverkar på mötet mellan misshandlade kvinnor och sjuksköterskor. En litteraturstudie.

Domestic violence is a serious public health issue that concerns everyone. Public health service is one of many authorities where battered women seek help. The purpose of this literature review was to describe which factors affect the encounter between battered women and nurses in public health departments. The method consisted of analysing 11 scientific articles. The result is presented in themes that show the different attitudes in the encounter between nurses and battered women. The battered women wished to be treated with respect, humility and being asked the challenging question about incidence of domestic violence by the nurse. Many nurses considered that the lack of education/knowledge and shortage of time prevented them from discovering and intervening with domestic violence. The result has been interpreted based on Antonovskys theory Sense of coherence. The study showed that nurses who were educated in domestic violence felt more resourceful and screened women for domestic violence to a greater extent. With support of the result we have managed to develop an action plan for nurses encountering battered women.
