Investeringskalkylens svarta får - en studie om utvärderingen av ledarskapsutvecklingsprogram


The concept of leadership development plays an important role within the modern organization. As a result of the increasing interest in developing leadership competencies, investments in leadership development programs are becoming a common part of business strategies. However, the return on those investments is seldom evaluated. The reason for this is considered to be the complexity created by the many factors that influence leadership but have no relation to the program. This is a case study based on interviews with participants from a one-year leadership development program that was carried out at AB Previa. The study aims to analyse if any individual or organizational effects can be identified as a result of the leadership program. Furthermore, with this specific case and its theoretical framework in mind, the study also examines whether a general evaluation of leadership development programs can be appropriately conducted. Empirical findings have shown individual and organizational effects at AB Previa as a direct consequence of the leadership development program. Additionally, empirics also imply that the chosen evaluation model in the theoretical framework of the study cannot solely and comprehensively evaluate a leadership development program. However, the analysis suggests that in order to complement the model, it can be extended and combined with other research findings within the field of evaluation methods.
