The aim of the study was to examine prerequisites for the changes that are taking place within working with Intimate Partner Violence in Va?stra Hisingen (a municipal district in Gothenburg, Sweden). My research questions concerned incentives for the new features, their practical consequences and prerequisites for implementation. The study has been performed by three focus group interviews with different parts of the organization represented. The work material has then been analyzed using Implementation Theory, Human Service Organization Theory and theories on breaking up. The study showed that all respondents were motivated to perform the changes, but also that there were significant differences between the groups? conceptions of what implementation demands, and of the organizational support today. The study also showed that the new features fit well in meeting the needs of the municipal district, and that they are supported by policy documents, theory and previous research on Intimate Partner Violence. Consequences of the new features are expected to be for example long-term perspective, improvement in meeting the child perspective and more accurate interventions. Variables that appeared to be important for implementation of the changes were motivation, explicitness of purpose, understanding of the changed structure, rootedness, management support, increase of knowledge, distribution of information, clearness of roles, conception of necessary prerequisites, economy, distinct routines and conception of individual responsibility. The interviews showed that these variables have been met to a varying degree.
