E-utbildning inom idrotten - framtidens utbildningsform?

Education in Swedish sport is mainly based on traditional learning that requires a lot of time and effort, which could be a barrier for trainers since they report a lack of time as a consequence of their commitment as a leader. The Swedish sports movement has noticed some trends that could be seen as influential on the future directions of sport. One of these trends is a changing way of communication where people today communicate to a greater extent with the use of digital technology. The Swedish sports movement has to relate to this and follow the evolution. The use of e-learning has increased in higher education and organizations over the past decades. Benefits such as flexibility and effectiveness along with the possibility to educate a wider range of people at a lower cost are some of the things that makes e-learning compelling. Could this be the way for the Swedish sport movement to improve their education and make it easier for trainers to attend? This study seeks to explore the perceptions of the use of e-learning in Swedish sport education. The study was conducted on eight sport educators derived from four federations. Information was gathered using semi-structured interviews. The results showed that there is an overall positive attitude to the use of e-learning in Swedish sport education given that it ensures good quality. The respondents stated that e-learning could be beneficial due to flexibility and time saving factors. Furthermore they suggest that these benefits could appeal more trainers to attend education. Due to the practical content of education in sports the respondents stated that it is hard to make all of the content available through e-learning. All of the theoretical material is seen to be workable trough e-learning while some practical events are difficult to transmit. Therefore the respondents express a desire to use a blended learning approach.
