Den fysiska planeringens påverkan på människans rekreationsmiljöer

tillämpning av de åtta parkkaraktärerna inom balanseringsprincipen

The development of our time, is due to great progresses in technology and an enormous ex-plosion of knowledge, has lead to an increased effort of our attention as a result of a boundless torrent of information . Higher productivity and efficiency in our workplaces and homes crea-tes fewer opportunities for rest, leading to a community where stress has become a national disease. Recreation is an important part of our lives in order to be able to deal with stress and is now considered to be an essential resource when it comes to sustainable development. Green spaces are therefore today viewed to play a considerable roll for the national health. Nature has proven to have positive influence on man which leads to a decrease in blood pressure, an increase in power of concentration and lowered production of stress hormones. Getting people to visit green areas requires an easy accessibility and attractive qualities. Research is showing that man, independent of age and situation in life, seek for different qualities in visited areas. This has through investigation of mans? usage of green areas given rise to eight characteristics that are to fit all of the cities inhabitants and are based on values of experience and activities. The physical planning of urban areas today are about condensed cities and to make use of unexploited areas. The accessible green areas in the cities are now starting to disappear at the same time as people are coming to be more dependent of them. The qualities and the multitude of the remaining areas are hence that reason due to be raised in values to meet the demands on recreation that is existing. At the current moment there is a lack of methods within physical planning that can guarantee recreational qualities in the cities and the Swedish legislation is falling short by vague formulations that can easily be misinterpreted. This is why municipa-lities have started to take the principle of balancing to their hearts, a means of control from German where planned changes are being regulated. My assignment of this paper has been to study if and how the principle of balancing and the eight characteristics could be used and included in the physical planning as a means of control to guarantee the qualities of recrea-tion and to study the effects on mans? recreational environments by physical planning. In this paper, I present the result from literature studies and interviews concerning green planning , German and Swedish examples of regulated physical changes. I will also present result from the practical study concerning application of the eight characteristics within the method of balancing. Accessible recreational green areas in a certain district of a city were being made a inventory of , analysed and planned changes were regulated. The results suggests that the physical planning is resulting in effects with negative influence on the qualities of recreation. There is a also a great need for a method that can guarantee recreational qualities and that green planning is gaining the same status as city planning. The results from the practical study did show that the application of the eight characteristics within the method of balancing is creating a good foundation for a means of control to guarantee the qualities of recreation. Ac-cording to my results there?s a great need for a means of control to guarantee the qualities of recreation to meet with and guarantee the need of recreation for future generations and to meet the demands of sustainable development.
