This paper deals with how Science teachers in the Swedish secondary school choose the content in the education they give to the pupils. What are the reasons for their choices and what do they think of the purpose of Science in secondary school? Through interviewing Science teachers the investigation shows that there are three different views of how to choose content in the Science education: one focuses on the processes of Science itself, one integrates the socio-cultural aspects and one emphasizes the interests of the pupils.

Bland mumier och mosslik - en jämförande studie av populärarkeologi och fackarkeologi

In my paper I have compared popular Science and neutral Science regarding language and construction. My task was to find out if there are differences between the language of popular Science and that of scientific Science. The purpose of my paper is to answer four questions1.How do the authors present the bogbodies and the mummies in the two categories?2.What does the popular Science imagine that you want to read about?3.Is there a difference between the target groups of the two categories?4. Does the presentation of the subject have consequenses when it comes to contents and readers?I have studied how often the authors use drawings, photos, diagrams, maps, and if the titles of the chapters can tell you something about the nature of books.

I also completed a text analyse of both the Swedish & Irish Science curriculum. These questions have I under my teachers training and under deputyship in preschool asked myself and these questions lies to behalf for my investigation. I interviewed five educationalists on different preschools for my investigation. My investigation resulted in that I have been able to see a certain conjunction between how you work with natural Science in preschool and the educationalist education or interest. What also plays a role is that you often associate natural Science with knowledge of nature. The educationalist seems overall positive to natural Science, but depending of a lack of knowledge it feels strange and difficult.

Science fiction och fantasy: en undersökning av svenska bokförlags utgivning och fyra folkbiblioteks inköp under perioden 1989 till 1994

Publication of Science fiction has a tradition in Sweden. Adult-fantasy does not. In recentyears, the 1980's, Swedish publishers have realised how profitable fantasy is. Of the totalpublication of the two genres between 1989 and 1994, 54% was Science fiction and 46%was fantasy. The reason for this even balance is that fantasy-books get reprinted more frequentlythan Science fiction-books.

Vetenskap, Teknologi och Ontologiska frågor

This essay is a study that takes interest in technical and technological change essential to philosophy of Science. What is shown is the importance of an active attitude towards this change, by the articulation of the question: Does technical development lead to new ontological questions for Science? - and by the answer that such questions do appear. It is clear that passive assumptions in this matter might prohibit Science in the proceeding search for truth.By examples of ways in which technical development helps and challenges Science, it is concluded that scrutiny of the relationship between technical development and ontological suppositions and hypotheses within Science is well motivated..

After analyzing their answers I have interviewed some of the pupils to get answers on further questions. The investigation resulted in conclusion that pupils have hard to connect their Science-education to their everyday lives. The most important element in forming the pupil?s opinions about Science is their relation to the teacher and how the lessons are set-up.The following questions will be answered in this paper:Do pupils understand why they have Science at school? Can the pupils see the use of scientific knowledge in their everyday life? How do pupils look upon their Science education?.
