The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the non steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) meloxicam in connection with dehorning of goat Kids. Six 2-3,5 weeks old dehorned Kids were given daily intramuscular injections of meloxicam (0,5 mg/kg; MG) and five age-matched dehorned Kids were given isotonic NaCl (NG) for 3 days. The study was randomized and double blinded. The behavior of the Kids was studied one day before dehorning, on the dehorning day and three days after. Blood samples were collected each day before the treatment and analyzed for plasma concentrations of meloxicam, hematocrit, cortisol, progesterone and glucose.

The consumption and energy use in today's society contributes to the on-going climate change that creates a debt of life quality for future generations (www, DN, 2007, a). The resources that are used by humans exceed by far what is sustainable (www, Regeringen, 2007, a). The purpose of this paper is to examine how a message about energy conservation should be designed to reach youths. This will be attempted by showing their thoughts on energy and environmental issues and also what it would take for them to get more involved in these issues. The views of the youths are gained by a number of focus group-interviews, which where carried out in the fall of 2007, with Kids in the ages 12 to 19. Apart from these interviews, interviews where also conducted with representatives from different youth organisations in Sweden, which gave their views on how to get a message across to Kids.

Swedish goats are mainly held for cheese production and therefore, both milk quality and composition are of great importance for dairymen. Today, only few data exists on milk composition from Swedish dairy goats and the casein content is still unknown. One way to reduce the work load for goat farmers and increase animal welfare can be to keep goats and Kids together for longer periods. The aims of this study were to investigate how milk yield and composition were affected when Kids suckled their dams during 8 weeks, and to measure the casein content on farm level by a mid-infrared spectroscopy method, previously calibrated for goat milk. Lactating goats were kept in two different MIX- systems where the dams are both suckled and milked.

Flera olika studier visar att det finns brister i de insatser som kommunerna erbjuder barn som upplever våld, detta trots att regeringen skärpt lagstiftningen för målgruppen. Några kommuner i Sverige har börjat använda en ny metod, Kids club, som specifikt är utformad för gruppen barn som upplevt våld. Vårt syfte med uppsatsen är att genom att undersöka motiven till att kommuner vill implementera en ny metod för barn som upplevt våld, Kids club, förstå vilken form av motivation som ligger till grund för denna vilja. Uppsatsen har en kvalitativ ansats, där vi genom att genomföra intervjuer med representanter från olika kommuner skapar förståelse för motiven bakom implementering av Kids club. De slutsatser vi fann i uppsatsen är att det finns två teman bakom motiven, dels enskilda personers motiv samt kommunen som organisations motiv.

The aim of this study was to investigate whether teachers are involved in children´s play, what their perspectives are on the importance of play and what conditions teachers have to stimulate children in their playing. In this study, I?ve been able to verify that play has a great value for children?s learning development. My method have been interviewing four teachers at a kindergarten in order to examine educators? perspective on the importance of play.The results of my investigation showed that teachers believe that play and role- play have a major impact on children's learning.

This study has focused on obesity prevention efforts in schools in the United States of America. The study was conducted in two states, Oklahoma and New Hampshire. In New Hampshire, the study was focused on more minor efforts which were the "CSHP", HEAL, Early Sprout, FIT, AFHY, 5210, and Kids CATCH Club. In Oklahoma, the focus on the study was on the program It's All About Kids.Method: Unstructured interviews and observation, analysis from an national policy document. A total of seventeen interviews conducted, seven of them in New Hampshire and ten in Oklahoma.

Vad anser föräldrarna om gruppbehandlingen och behandlingsupplägget?Studien är baserad på ett kvalitativt tillvägagångssätt och består av semistruktureradeintervjuer med sju föräldrar. Vår utgångspunkt är en syn på föräldraskapoch familj som något som görs, snarare än är, varför vi använder ett familjesociologisktperspektiv för att nå en djupare förståelse för föräldrarnas berättelser.De sammantagna resultaten pekar på att såväl föräldraskap som familjeliv påverkasnär ett barn drabbas av ångestproblematik. Genomgående beskriver föräldrarnahur familjens vardagsliv fick förändras och anpassas till följd av barnens svårigheter.Föräldrarna lyfter dessutom fram hur de i olika grad kommit att ifrågasättaoch omförhandla sitt föräldraskap i förhållande till barnets ångest och behandlingen.Samtliga föräldrar talar om Cool Kids i positiva ordalag, och beskriver hur barnensproblematik minskat i omfattning, vilket i sin tur bidragit till en ökad förståelseoch ett stärkt föräldraskap.

AbstractHerbivores can be classified into either hiders or followers depending on their postpartum behaviour. The two behaviour types affect the spatial relationship between the mother and her infant. Goats are seen as hiders, although the environment plays a central role when it comes to the behaviour. Therefore, in the first part of this study the aim was to investigate how the goat Kids? spatial relationship changed in the transition from indoor housing to pasture.

The purpose of this study is to investigate childrens possibilities to retrieve information by searching in searching engines designed for children. Two such search engines are examined: Yahooligans and Kids Click, both of which index pages in English only. I have compared Yahooligans with its equivalence for adults; Yahoo, by evaluating the retrieval effectiveness. Some functions in Kids Click and in Yahooligan are investigated. Seven class room studies are described in the prior research chapter.

To take part in a summer hockey camp during the summer vacation is something that is very popular. This study is carried out through parents of ice-hockey active children in the south of Sweden. The main purpose of this study is to investigate for which reasons parents might let their children participate in a summer hockey camp. It is also studied which parts of the contents in a camp that is considered important by the parents and how much they are willing to pay for a week. To answer this, were an inquiry send out to 86 respondents.

The purpose of this study is to investigate if and how children acknowledge TV-commercials, and if that is the case, are their preferences in products a result of it? The study also investigates which TV-commercials that are broadcasted together with children?s programs and if and how the children acknowledge these. The studies are based on interviews and an exercise with pictures that was carried out with two groups containing four children each. One group contained four children in the age of 6, and the other four children in the age of 7. The children are situated in a school in the Swedish countryside.

Studiens syfte var att med en enkätstudie med öppna frågor, undersöka barns, föräldrars ochbehandlares upplevelser av en Cool Kids behandling. Resultatet visade på genomgående positivaupplevelser. Föräldrar och barn upplevde att problemen de initialt hade sökt hjälp för hadeförsvunnit helt eller endast kvarstod i liten och hanterbar utsträckning.Behandlare beskrev ett uppskattat arbetsmaterial. Olika faktorer som beskrevs i positiva ordalagvar: Gruppdynamiken; Motivation; Behandlares kompetens; Arbete med mål och hemuppgifter ; Attlära sig om problemet; och Samtal om tankar, känslor och reaktioner i kroppen. Det fanns en önskanom att delen innehållande mobbing skulle förändras och flera upplevde en tidspress underbehandlingen.

Med ett ökat antal multinationella företag med anställda från hela världen ökar också antalet barn som under sin uppväxt flyttar runt i olika länder, third culture Kids. Uppsatsen syftar till och vill belysa hur det kan vara att växa upp i flera olika länder och hur man ser på sin egen kulturella identitetsutveckling. Identitetsutveckling är något alla går igenom. Forskning visar att om man under uppväxten ofta byter kulturellt sammanhang kan det en extra utmaning speciellt när det gäller att utveckla sin kulturella identitet.Fyra personer intervjuades om deras uppväxt och upplevelser som TKC.  Uppsatsen presenterar deras berättelser och tillsammans med tidigare forskning syftar de till att ge en bild av hur det kan vara att växa upp i främmande kulturer men också hur den kulturella identiteten ifrågasätts när man som ung vuxen återvänder till sitt passland.

The use of laptops, interactive whiteboards and the Internet is step-by-step working it?s way into Swedish schools. The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes of teachers towards using IT-related tools in their teaching. How are the tools given used as mediating tools, what new methods do the teachers find themselves discovering while using these, how do the teachers feel about digital teaching platforms and how do the IT-related tools affect students language progression? These are all questions that this study is meant to answer.
