Kosten ombord : Hur vill sjömannen att kostregleringen ska se ut?

Diet is mentioned by many seamen as a subject of joy and aims to give nutritional value and sufficient energy to manage a long working day at sea. The purpose with this investigation is to examine if there is a need among seamen to receive more information about Diet regulations onboard and if they wish that it was shaped differently to meet their demands. The study is based on a literature part where Diet regulations are examined and an interview part with semi structured qualitative interviews with five seamen. The conclusion of the study indicates that seamen have limited knowledge about the enunciation of the regulation, where it is to be found and consider it to be imprecise. Interviews showed that seamen believe that variety is the most important factor in Diet intake and it was this expression that they primarily wanted stated in the regulations.

During one week (9-13 May, 2005) the use of veterinary Diets for the hospitalised patients att the University clinic was registered. The animal owners were interviewed by telephone six months later about the feeding after coming home. Four out of ten animal owners answered yes to the question if the veterinarian had asked what food their animal normally consumed. Out of 35 animals, 15 (43%) were prescribed to a veterinary Diet. Among cats it was 8 out of 14 (57%) and among dogs it was 7 out of 21 (33%). Four animals out of ten were recommended a veterinary Diet when going home, but 20% did not follow the recommendation all the way through and stopped feeding their animal the veterinary Diet. Reasons that were given was that the Diet didn't last the entire period, that the animal didn't need the Diet anymore according to the owner and one dog that became to lean when fed the Diet. The diagnosis for these three dogs was vomiting, foreign body in the digestive system and bloody diarrhoea.

The disease is benign but may cause much suffering for the individual. The treatments available are used to relieve symptoms. One nutrition therapy is to exclude fermentable oligo-, di-, monosaccharide and polyols, so callde FODMAPS, from the Diet. This Diet is proven successful and even significantly better than the standard nutrition advice for IBS.

Varför väljer vuxna i Sverige att följa olika former av dieter? : En studie om orsak till samt val av diet

Bakgrund: Dieter får allt större utrymme i media samtidigt som allt fler följer någon Diet.Syfte: Syftet var att undersöka varför vuxna personer i Sverige valt att följa någon form av Diet. Vidare undersöktes bland annat socioekonomiska faktorers inverkan på valet av Diet.Metod: En webbaserad enkät distribuerades via Facebook där 235 personer deltog genom ett bekvämlighetsurval. Enkäten bestod av 23 slutna frågor. Svaren sammanställdes och analyserades i IBM SPSS Statistics 21.0. Resultaten analyserades med hjälp av Chi-2 test, Mann Whitney U test samt boxplots.

Effects of genotype, age and feed on the fat components of egg yolk

The aim of this study was to investigate if the hen?s genotype, age and Diet affect fat components in egg yolk. The fat components measured were total fat content, phospholipids, cholesterol and the fatty acid profile. This trial involved 12 groups of laying hens housed in 8-hen cages enriched with perches, dust baths and nests. The genotype Lohmann Selected Leghorn (LSL) and the genotype Lohmann Brown (LB)was used.

The purpose of this study was to investigate parents' knowledge about Diet and dental caries. The survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire consisting of 19 questions regarding knowledge of Diet and caries, and preventive measures. The questionnaires were distributed to parents who were visiting a dental hygienist or prophylaxis nurse with their children aged 0-3 years. A total of 88 completed surveys were collected. The study showed that the majority of the parents had knowledge about Diet and dental caries.

In Scandinavia, capercaillie are often associated with pine trees (Pinus sylvestris) in winter, with pine needles as the main Diet. Few Dietary studies have been conducted in Sweden and winter Diet is subject to little debate. The interesting thing is that this "pine specialist? is also found in spruce (Picea abies) forest habitats where pine is scarce or unavailable. In many studies outside Sweden (primarily Central Europe) spruce is regularly observed in the winter Diet, but I have found no reports on the selection of the Diet in spruce forest areas in Sweden.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect on growth of foals on two different Diets, either a forage-based Diet or a Diet containing approx. 40 % concentrate. The report also includes a review of the pertinent literature on the effects of Diet on mares? milk and growth of horses. Introduction: In Skaraborg, a standardized dialogue is being held since 2005 about Dietand physical activity, during the 1,5- and 3-years health control at the Child Health Carecentre (CHCC). The aim of the dialogue is to prevent overweight and obesity amongchildren. Aim: The aim of this study is to examine the parents? experience of thisdialogue, and what they perceive that the dialogue has contributed with after sixmonths. Methods: Qualitative collection of data through 11 interviews heldimmediately after the dialogue, in addition to five telephone interviews conducted six toeight months after the dialogue.

Stress, återhämtning och coping under tävlings- och icke-tävlingsinriktad diet.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka skillnader i stress, återhämtning samt coping hos individer som genomfört tävlingsinriktad Diet jämfört med de som Dietat av icke-tävlingsmässiga skäl. 86 individer (64 män och 21 kvinnor) deltog där medelåldern var 25. Metoden i studien var kvantitativ och bestod av ett tredelat formulär innehållandes de svensköversatta instrumenten Recovery-Stress Questionnaire for Athletes (RESTQ-Sport) (Kellmann & Kallus, 2001) och Brief COPE (Muhonen & Torkelson, 2005), samt ett egenkomponerat formulär där informanterna fick kategorisera sig som en av tre Diettyper: I) Bodybuilding (BB, n=26), Annat tävlingssammanhang (AT, n=32) samt Icke-tävlingssammanhang (IT, n=28). Resultatet visade en statistisk skillnad i stress mellan de olika Diettyperna, där BB upplevde mer stress jämfört med IT, samt att BB upplevde mer av stressdelskalan utmattning än IT. De implikationer som framhävts har riktat sig mot att sprida en bättre förståelse för återhämtning hos Dietister inom allmänvård likväl som Dietcoacher inom bodybuilding..

ABSTRACT Objective: The objective of this review was to describe the effects of low carbohydrate Diets in people with diabetes type 2. Methods: Review. An article search was made in the databases PubMed and Medline. The search resulted in 17 studies. After review and analysis of the studies main results five categories were highlighted; bloodsugar levels, HbA1c, weight, lipid levels and antidiabetic medications.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is becoming a more common diagnosis of younger children. In recent years the perception that some ingredients in our food may have a negative effect regarding the symptoms in children with ADHD has grown stronger. Children with ADHD often suffer from irritated bowel syndromes which affect their ability to digest food. This may result in malnutrition as well as a release of substances that are harmful.The purpose of this report is to compile and illustrate the knowledge of how special food, particular milk protein and gluten, may affect the symptoms of children with ADHD. Also, the report aims to evaluate if there should be changes made in Kindergarten to increase the well-being of these children.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate distillers? dried grains with solubles (DDGS) as a protein source to rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), by studying digestibility and growth measurements. One control Diet, totally lacking DDGS, and three test Diets were made containing 10 % (low), 31% (medium) and 51 % (high) DDGS respectively on dry matter (DM) basis. The control Diet and the test Diets were made to be as nutritionally equal as possible. Wheat bran was used to balance the fiber content of the Diets.
