Kvalitetsprocesser och mätning av pinnfräsar : ? Empirisk studie av produktionsmätutrustning vid frästillverkning

This master thesis investigates quality procedures and measuring of solid Carbide end mills, with the main focus on measuring equipment. The thesis has been written in collaboration with a special production department for solid Carbide end mills at Sandvik Coromant in Gimo. The department?s needs and constraints have been the foundation of the project and the main research question is: how to measure end mills in order to ensure good quality of the produced end mills. The project has contained both a theoretical study consisting of a literature review and practical studies in the workshop with the objective to identify an end mill?s main parameters and the relationship between an end mill?s geometry and the manufacturing processes.

Optimering av glidlager och utveckling av dess konstruktion

I detta projekt har vi fördjupat oss i en glidlagerkonstruktion som befinner sig i en skruvpress. Skruvpressen kompakterar en okänd massa som är sekretessbelagd. Robustus har ett förslag på överdimensionering av det nuvarande glidlagret. Målet med projektet var att analysera och optimera några glidlager i förhållande till det befintliga glidlagret samt att ta hänsyn till materialval och den miljö som lagret kommer att befinner sig i. Det som analyserna och optimeringen visade var att det befintliga glidlagret hade den bästa geometrin bland alla lösningar men inte det optimala materialet.

Test och verifiering av en ny inkapslingsmetod för SiC BJT och MOSFET

The use of silicon Carbide (SiC) as a base material in power electronics has manyadvantages, including high breakdown voltage and excellent temperature endurance.However, the packaging of such electronics presents major challenges and there is aneed for packaging that can operate in higher temperature. The purpose of this thesishas been to develop a test method and verify the functionality of SiC powertransistors prototypes with a new packaging technique developed by Swerea IVF AB.It includes setting up an electrical test-bed for power and high temperature cyclingand analysis of the results. Even though test confirmed functionality after thepackaging process, (at room temperature) the performance seemed to have been reduced. This could be a result of the measurement setup and the packaging process.In higher temperature the transistors failed to operate longer than a couple ofminutes which showed the weaknesses in the design and the challenges with this typeof packaging..

The purpose of this paper is to get a conception how prioritization and decision making works in technologically advanced companies. We wanted to understand how to administrate models and how to prioritize the best ideas and relate these to technologically advanced companies. How does the company make these decisions and who is responsible?We have chosen to observe TranSiC, a Swedish technologically advanced company that manufacture silicon Carbide transistors. They currently have nine employees and mange 10-20 projects simultaneously, but are aiming to expand their business.

Samband mellan tjockleken hos PVD-skikt och förslitningsbeteendet vid svarvning

This project has as main goal to study the influence of the coating thickness, deposited by arc-PVD- technology, on the wear resistance of coated cemented Carbide inserts in three different turning operations. An additional effort has also been made to develop a new test method for evaluating flank wear resistance. Three different coating types (Coating A, Coating B and Coating C) have been studied in three distinctive thicknesses (2, 4 and 6 µm) for each type. For two of the coating types (Coating A and B) special studies has been done with the thickest coating, creating two additional coating versions of the thickest coating, by changing various deposition parameters, with the aim to enhance the cohesive properties of the coating and lower the residual stresses at the cutting edge. The results show increased crater wear resistance with increased coating thickness for all coating types, but the amount of increase changes with coating type (Coating A>B>C).

Hårdfräsning i verktygsstål : Förslitning av skäregg

This thesis work is made by Torbjörn Johansson on Karlstad University for Uddeholms AB. The assignment in this thesis work was to investigate tough cutting in three different tool steels: Vanadis 4 Extra, Vancron 40 and Sverker 21. The research was to compare the wear of the tool after cutting in each one of the tool steel alloys. The research was also made to see if the tool cutting in Vancron 40 has a better wear than the tool cutting in Vanadis 4 Extra and also compare the results with Sverker 21. All three of these alloys are a part of Uddeholms AB:s range of products, and is used in applications like forming tools and knife tools. Vancron 40 is a powder steel with a very good combination of mechanical properties like ductility, adhesive strength and hardness.
