In this essay our starting point was the question:? How Youth experience their ongoing sojourn in the resource school?? We did a qualitative study with interviews. We interviewed totally eight Youth with different backgrounds. The head question was Youth´s positive and negative experiences about ongoing sojourn in the resource school compared with their home school. In the result, we came until that most of the Youth were pleased with their sojourn in the resource school.

The purpose with this essay has been to describe and understand why Youth community service became a penalty in Sweden. The political discourse in which Youth community service was established has been analyzed with Laclau & Mouffe´s discourse theory. A social constructivist onset and a discourse analysis were the methodological tools of the essay. The result is two folded. Youth community service was created to strengthen the constitutional state, combined with high beliefs of the social services competence.

The purpose of this essay was to study factors that influence some Youth to use narcotics. I wanted to increase my understanding and knowledge about these factors. I believe it is good to have such knowledge when you are working with Youth who are using narcotics but also for a good drug-prevented work. It is a literary study, which covers the most frequently quoted results in the field of research.The questions for my study were:· Which factors influence Youth to use narcotics on a individual level?· Which factors influence Youth to use narcotics on a group level?· Which factors influence Youth to use narcotics on a society level?My conclusion of this study was that Youth often use narcotics because of many different factors and it is Youth from all social groups in the society who are testing and using narcotics..

The purpose of this study was to examine whether Youth novels contained informationconcerning our society. We reviewed Youth literature and its history in brief, including itscommencement and development from separate boys' and girls' novels to a common Youthnovel after the Second World War.To obtain a clearer picture and a better understanding of Youths, we read non-fiction, such asbooks, magazines and articles, concerning Youth culture, its meaning and content. We decidedto review the period 1990-1994 more closely. We therefore set up selection criteria whichfinally resulted in 56 Youth novels. We examined these novels to determine if and/or how theymatched the nine preselected areas that we felt were typical for the 1990's.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine how the lifestyle of Youth between the ages of 15-17 is influenced by electronic media and also what view and opinions Youth has regarding electronic media and lifestyle. We intend to examine how and when the Youth use electronic media in their everyday lives, what purpose the electronic media has in the life of the Youth, and finally what views and opinions regarding electronic media and questions regarding lifestyle the Youth express. We as librarians and adults need more knowledge on how Youth use electronic media and also what thoughts they have regarding media and lifestyle. We would like to bring some knowledge to the discussion in this area with our study to librarians as well as parents.

The aim of our study is to explore the thoughts and beliefs held by the professionals who work with the sentence Youth service for young offenders, and how they feel about the same.How is the sentence Youth service perceived from a professional perspective? How does the concurrence look like between the police, the social services and the prosecutor, when it comes to young offenders? What kind of difficulties/challenges do the professionals see in the possibility to effect the sentence Youth service?The study is based on a qualitative method. The data consists of seven semi-structured interviews with two police officers, four social workers and one prosecutor.The results of our study indicate that Youth service is a good sentence for young first-time offenders; the study also indicates that concurrence between the different professions is a success factor; furthermore the study revealed that it was very difficult finding adequate working places..

The aim of this project is to study the work that has been done by the Youth welfare to prevent accidents and to increase the preparedness in case of fire. Further the aim is to develop a basis to improve the interaction between the fire services and the Youth welfare. Who is responsible for Youth policy implementation?This thesis attempts to deepen our understanding of Swedish and Nordic Youth policy. Youth policy is cross-sectoral and includes all the decisions and measures affecting the conditions of young people. National Youth policy therefore concerns young people's life situations in a number of different areas, such as work, housing, education, health, leisure and influence. The purpose of the study is to increase the knowledge of Youth policy work the last century by understanding the impact of Youth research concerning adults' role in Youth policy implementation. A mixed method approach has been applied to the study: interviews, documents and Youth theory have been analysed.

Youth culture and social problems associated with Youth groups have existed for decades. We have chosen an explorative case study design to highlight young people's revolt against parents and society and how society has dealt with social problems of Youth and how those were perceived. ?Raggare? were considered a major social problem in society. This study contains interviews with three leaders that operate onthe strategic level within Youth hockey and three coaches working with Youth players in theages of 11 and 12. I have divided my main results into 4 categories, based on an earlier studyfrom Karin Redelius (2002). These categories include the following themes:1) Competition on the good and the bad2) The importance of winning3) Shake-out versus sports on children’s terms4) Instruction, play and learningThe main conclusions in this study show that leaders on the strategic level appreciate Youthhockey in a very similar way.

Do Youths know what life values their parents have? Does this knowledge have a connection with the Youth?s attachment to their parents? Do the Youth?s life values differ from their parents? And could the Youth?s life values affect how they estimate their parent?s life values? To answer these questions data from a survey were used. The respondents were 13-15 years old Youths and their parents. The results show that Youths do not know what life values their parents have, irrespective of if the attachment to them is good or bad. The results also show that the Youth?s own life values to a high extend affect how they estimate their parent?s life values.

The main focus of this essay is to analyze whether strict employment protection legislation has a negative effect on the labour market possibilities for Youth in the EU or not. To empirically examine the labour market possibilities for Youth, data for unemployment rates and incidence of temporary jobs are used. By doing simple correlations between the different labour market characteristics and OECD?s employment protection legislation index the effect of the latter is tested. The result is that a tendency for Youth unemployment and frequency of Youth with temporary employment to be higher when employment protection legislation is strict can be seen.

The practice of residential treatment of Youth has been up for debate for quite some time. The debate regarding institutional care has voiced concerns regarding the lack of follow-up and evaluation of treatment and its efficacy. It is especially important with additional research on residential treatment conducted from the perspective of those being treated, as well as the treatment providers. This study aims to add to this field of research. The study is based on two empirical studies conducted through qualitative interviews.

Aims: The aim of this study is to describe how Youth?s political exclusion is constructed as asocial problem. This is done through a study of a project which aim is to engage young peoplein politics.Method and theory: By interviewing the project?s manager and developer as well as eightparticipating young people different constructions of the problem of Youth political exclusionhas been analyzed using the social constructionist perspective on social problems.Findings: The dominant perspective found in the empirical material includes framing youngpeople?s lack of political knowledge and self-confidence as the reason for their politicalexclusion. Even though the Youth Board (ungdomsstyrelsen) in Sweden officially views allyoung people as a resource, when Youth politics are implemented through projects, this is notthe view that young people meet.

In the paper we bring up and analyse the attitudes librarianshave towards Youth and Youth programs in the public library.The purpose is to raise awareness among librarians and tomake the process of change and development. We have usedsemi structured interviews in order to answer our researchquestions and conducted the interviews with five librarians incharge of the Youth programs in different public libraries. Inthese interviews we asked about their views on Youth as auser group, Youth programs and how this affects theiropinions on the roles of the public library. We have also triedto see how the librarian?s opinions differ from how thelibrary runs their Youth programs today.We have used two different models as theoretic framework.One of them has defined three different roles of the publiclibrarian and is constructed by Maj Klasson and the other is adeveloped version of Andersson & Skot-Hansen?s classicmodel of the roles of the public library made by Jochumsen,Rasmussen & Skot-Hansen.
