India is the country with the highest prevalence of rabies in the world, with about 20?000 human deaths occurring every year. The country also has a heavy burden of free roaming dogs, mainly because of the high amount of edible waste in the streets, which are the main hosts for the disease. Therefore to truly extinguish rabies, the main focus should be on the dogs, both stray dogs and owned. One method is to vaccinate all dogs against rabies.

The construction and real estate industry represents a significant part of Sweden's total impact on the environment and mainly affects the following national environmental objectives: reduced climate impact, a good built environment and a non-toxic environment. By establishing internal rules, companies within the industry can reduce their environmental impact. SMT (AB Sandvik Materials Technology), a part of the industrial group Sandvik AB, has set a target that during 2014 develop a guiding document with special consider to the environmental impact during construction of office buildings, that they establish at the Swedish regional capital Sandviken, for both internal and external tenants. This study therefore aims to clarify which environmental aspects that the construction and real estate sector mainly are responsible for, and therefore should be part of a guiding document for a company for establishing office buildings, and to present arguments regarding the use of such a document. The study is based on literature studies and personal contact with other companies, in the form of e-mail conversations and a telephone interview.

SAMMANFATTNING Elever som går Estetiskt program med inriktning animation, har flyttat till Eksjö från hela landet eftersom det är riksintag. Hur går det då för dessa elever som ger sig iväg hemifrån redan vid 15-16 års ålder? En del flyttar långt, och har bara möjlighet att åka hem under de längre loven. Andra behöver inte flytta lika långt och kan utan problem åka hem varje helg. Under min praktik på Eksjö gymnasium såg jag att flera av dessa elever har problem med sin situation. Kan det vara deras separation från hemmet och den stora omställning detta kan föra med sig, som var orsaken till problemen? Finns problemen i större utsträckning hos de elever som flyttat ?långt? jämfört med dem som flyttat ?kort?? Kanske finns det andra orsaker till problemen. Det kanske kan vara så att en del elever ser en chans att komma hemifrån genom att söka ett program med riksintag, vilket kan betyda att man inte har det genuina intresset för detta program.

Detta examensarbete har genomförts på Mape Sweden AB med syfte att eliminera eller minska icke värdeskapande aktiviteter inom inköpsprocessen. Genom att undersöka hur fö-retaget arbetar med inköp och dess inköpsaktiviteter för verktyg och reservdelar är målet att hitta lösningar som innebär en tidseffektivisering av inköpsprocessen.Arbetet är av kvalitativ karaktär. Denna ansats valdes då gruppen ville få en förståelse över nuläget genom kvalitativa metoder. Metoderna som använts för att samla in data till arbetet var observationer och intervjuer, en litteraturstudie samt benchmarking på ett annat tillver-kande företag. För att ta fram förbättringsförslag till företaget utfördes ett spagettidiagram över förflyttningar.

Den totala biogasproduktionen i Sverige 2009 var 1,4 TWh och 22 % av biogasen producerades i samrötningsanläggningar. Sedan 2005 är det förbjudet att deponera organiskt avfall, vilket har gjort att produktionen från samrötningsanläggningar har ökat de senaste åren. Den totala biogaspotentialen i Sverige är ungefär 15 TWh och där står lantbruket för över 70 %. Avloppsslam, avfall från livsmedelsindustrin och matavfall står för den resterande delen. Det är även dessa tre råvarugrupper som har störst lönsamhet med dagens teknik.

The Swedish National Rail Administration has changed in the past decade, from its origin after a less dramatic separation from the Swedish State Railways to becoming an authority with its own identity. Today the National Rail Administration is a large organisation with several different departments, each with its own unique function. To operate train services the railway needs to be ?in shape?, leading to a need for maintenance, reinvestments and new investments. For this purpose, the National Rail Administration carries out public procurement where contractors, who are able to perform maintenance and new construction, submit tenders.

Sverige har sedan 1983 haft lagstadgad revisionsplikt för alla aktiebolag. Med anledning av regeringens mål att reducera de administrativa kostnaderna för de svenska företagen tillsattes en utredning om hur revisionsplikten ska avskaffas för de svenska aktiebolagen. Enligt regeringens förslag som presenterades i mars 2008 föreslås en avskaffad revisionsplikt för 96 % av de svenska aktiebolagen.Avskaffad revisionsplikt innebär en förändring som berör hela näringslivet. Konsekvenserna av avskaffandet är framförallt av intresse för revisionsbranschen och samhället.Efterfrågan av revision förklaras huvudsakligen genom agentteorin om att det sker en separation mellan ägande och företagsledning. Tidigare studier visar även att faktorer som exempelvis krav från kreditgivare, val av revisionsbyrå och förbättrad kvalité på redovisningen påverkar valet av revision.Vi har utifrån ett deduktivt angreppssätt genomfört en enkätstudie bland företag i Umeå med 1-49 anställda.

Public concern and the need of responsible way of doing business have brought forward the issue of sustainability at the forefront of discussion in the last decade. Even though, food retailers are playing an important role in the economy, they are exposed for criticism by media and consumers for any socially and environmentally irresponsible business practices because, the potential environmental and social impacts from their operations are significant. These impacts need to be recognized and properly addressed. The main objective of this study was to assess the sustainable business management of a cooperative food retail business in Sweden, known as Konsum Värmland (KV). The necessary data and information on history and status of KV, and its practical activities concerning the implementation of sustainable development programs as well as the motivation and challenges encountered by KV during the implementation were gathered via reviewing different documents, research papers and press releases; interviewing decision makers and other personnel in KV and other researchers from Swedish University of Agricultural University who have investigated KV.

Vid Boliden Minerals anrikningsverk, i Boliden, planeras ett tellurlakningsverk där det är tänkt att lakningen skall ske i två steg. Varm cyanidlakning görs på flotationskoncentratet och flotationsavfallet skickas för kall cyanidlakning. Varm cyanidlakning görs satsvis och tanken har en maximal gräns för mängden ingående material som styrs av viktsutbyte sulfid hos det ingående material. Ur lakresten från den varma cyanidlakningen planeras för att utvinna tellur genom ytterligare lakningssteg. Även här är det önskvärt att hålla viktsutbytet så lågt som möjligt för att minimera anläggningens storlek.

Scanias nuvarande mjukvaruprocess upplevs, i många fall, vara onödigt lång från det att en idé har genererats tills att den har lanserats på marknaden. För att konkurrera på marknaden är det viktigt att erbjuda nya tjänster och ny avancerad fordonsstyrning som snabbt ska kunna sättas i produktion. För att säkerställa att mjukvaran uppfyller de uppsatta kvalitet- och säkerhetskraven används inarbetade processer däribland den så kalladeEmbedded Release Process. Dock är denna process inte alltid till hjälp för utvecklingen och kan medföra lång "time-to-market".Syftet med detta examensarbete var att utreda Scanias nuvarande utvecklingsprocess av mjukvara med avseende på ledtider, eftersom det idag råder frågetecken om huruvida processen är tidsmässigt optimerad från idé tills att den når kund.De metoder som har använts för att angripa de uppställda frågeställningarna har bestått mestadels av kvalitativa forskningsmetoder så som litteraturstudie, värdeflödesanalys, fallstudie, benchmarking samt workshop. Såsom ett komplement till den kvalitativa forskningen har statistik tillämpats i fallstudien.Värdeflödesanalysen visade på många överlämningar inom organisationen, centraliserad beslutsfattning samt att flödet sker sekventiellt.

In several countries that have been early in the development of wind farms, there is today a second hand market for the used wind turbines. The European Union (EU) has established a waste hierarchy in order to minimize throwaway mentality. The second hand market is a part of this as the steps are to minimize, reuse, recycle, extract energy and landfill.In order to promote the development of renewable energy, there are energy certificates for the producers that provide it, wind power being one type of renewable energy. After 15 years the energy certificates for a specific wind turbine are no longer paid, and after that there are several different scenarios for the wind turbine. The scenarios investigated in this bachelor?s thesis are export of the wind turbine to countries that are not as far along as Sweden in their development towards renewable energy, selling in Sweden to individuals, and recycling of the wind turbine, as it mostly consists of metals and therefore is recyclable.

During the middle of the 18th century the development of Toyota Production System, TPS, started in order to streamline the processes. TPS was based on the principles of assembly line production but unlike previous performers Toyota let the manufacturing be constantly affected by demand. At the end of the 18th century TPS was described by Womack and Jones in the book "The machine that changed the world - the story of lean producion" where TPS got the name lean. The principles behind lean is to maximize customer value and eliminate waste which means making products and services more valuable to the customer. 1Lean was for a long time a philosophy and an approach limited to industries and production based companies.

This work consists of a survey and risk classification of eleven metal industries including foundries, finishers and engineering industries in two industrial areas in Mora. The study follows a method called MIFO (Method of Surveying Contaminated Sites) composed by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. In the method assessments of the degree of hazard posed by the pollutants, the level of pollution, the conditions of dispersal, sensitivity and the degree to which the area is worthy to protect are made for each contaminated site (object). The assessment classify the objects into four risk classes in which risk class 1 denotes a very large risk, 2 large risk, 3 moderate risk and risk class 4 little risk. The work of surveying using MIFO is divided into two phases.

Urban farming can be viewed in several contexts. The first part of this work brings up the beneficial effects of farming on our physical and mental health, knowledge as well as on social life in cities. The introduction of gardening in schools can contribute to an increased awareness on both agricultural practices and importance as well as ecological processes. It can also be used in teaching of other subjects. Farming can also contribute to improving the household economy, and the economy on a municipal or national level.
