The purpose with this study has been to get a previous knowledge about how pre-school teachers look at the impact of the picture book for children and their language development and participation at the age of three to five years. The study was carried through inquiries at a pre-school in a west Swedish urban district. The study proceed from the sociocultural theory which means that children learn by teamwork with other more experienced individuals. The result shows that the pre-school teachers consciously let the interest of the children guide the choice of books. At the same time they push for the meaning of conversation with the children.

I min uppsats undersöker jag om det går att hitta en mer användbar bild av begreppet ?kreativitet? och föra in den i bildundervisningen. Jag reder ut kreativitetens grunder och ställer upp ett antal användbara förutsättningar som jag tar med mig till en undersökning på en partnerskola. Här ville jag undersöka hur eleverna tar emot och genomför ett platsspecifikt konstprojekt där omständigheterna speglar de kunskaper jag funnit i uppsatsarbetet. Vidare redovisar jag denna undersökning och diskuterar mina observationer därifrån.

This paper is a degree project on the C-level, 15 points at University West, Department of Business and IT dept. Informatics. This study is about agile methodology and its impact on IT projects. Requirements management is a process within an IT project, where customer has certain requirements that must be met by an IT system. The difference between the traditional and agile development is in the requirements management process and it can cause problems in a project.

In this thesis the construction of identity within the EU is discussed. A thesis problem in three dimensions is used to explain the purpose of the construction, its realization and the consequences of such identity. These aspects show the complexity of the problems related to identity construction on a structural level.By using a post-modern and a social constructivist theoretical approach identity is presented as socially constructed by discourse. The theory of discourse makes it possible to analyze the development of an identity forming discourse within the EU and its status today.With an approach inspired by critical theory, we use discourse analysis as a methodological tool to illustrate the ideas that govern discourse, and in what way it is related to the social reality.The analysis states that the purpose of identity constructing is the striving for legitimacy. Without identification, the legitimacy is threatened.

The written sources concerning the process of christianization in Sweden has for a long time been limited to two main texts, Rimberts vita of St. Ansgarius and Adam of Bremen´s History of the bishops of Hamburg. This is due to a rigid source criticism in the beginning of the 20th century, which put other material ? in particular the norse sagas ? out of consideration. The last twenty years however, new questions have been raised concerning the christianization, partly because of new archaeological findings, new interpretations of the significance of runic stones and the recent debate about the formation of the Swedish medieval kingdom.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the descriptions of characters and settings in four autobiographies. The main question is: What picture of women and men, of the West and the Orient do these books provide? To answer this question we have formed three sub questions, which are: In what ways are main and minor characters described? In what ways are the key settings, and the Western and Oriental societies described? Which themes are dealt with, and from what points of departure? The theoretical framework is based on a postcolonial theoretical perspective, where the concept of binary opposites and Edward W. Said?s ideas about orientalism are crucial.

This is a case study influenced by Grounded Theory and Symbolic Interactionism. Its focus is on a small group of pupils isolated both geographically and socially from the ordinary school. The composition is written from the children?s perspective. Observations and interviews have made it possible to study both the interaction between the children and also the adults, how the children are described by the adults working with them and what expectations they have on the children.In the light of earlier research, our case study can be seen as an example how the school is dealing with the children?s problems.

Denna studie behandlar det historiska datorspelet Europa Universalis III utifrån en bildanalys. Vår avsikt med arbetet var att undersöka genuskonstruktioner samt se vilken typ av historiebruk som kommer till uttryck genom den västerländska historiekulturen i spelet. I vår bildanalys har vi använt oss av Eva Blomberg och Knut Kjeldstadli. Det vi har kommit fram till är att Europa Universalis III till största del använder sig av historiska markörer och igenkänningsprincipen samt att spelet är ett uttryck för det kommersiella historiebruket. Vidare har vi funnit att datorspelsskaparna genom det kommersiella historiebruket dragit nytta av den västerländska historiekulturen för att göra ekonomiska vinster och locka spelare.

For centuries Islam and Muslims have been subject to islamophobic attitudes in the west. The purpose with this study was to see into the making of open and closed attitudes against Islam and Muslims from a conflict in southern Thailand, and also to so see if Muslims are portrayed as more violent than the Buddhist groups in the conflict. The aim of the study is also to see if Muslims fall into a violent stereotype. This was studied by looking at five Swedish newspapers coverage of the conflict, during a given time. To be able to look into this, two theories will be used, the first one is the Runnymede Trust theory, which is about open and closed attitudes against Islam and Muslims.

The aim of this paper is to perform a comparative study between France and Sweden analyzing the veil debate that took place in 2003 and 2004. This debate has been one of the central features of the renewed conflict between the West and Islam post 9/11, and has the presumed oppression of the Muslim veil in focus. With help of critical theory and a differentiated citizenship theory, including gender and post-colonial perspectives, I analyse the veil in a Western context in the arguments presented and the actions taken. Through that I try to distinguish the potential problems posed for the Muslim minorities living in the two countries.Three main areas are covered: the different political actions in the two countries, the consequences for this sidestep in liberal citizenship theory and in what way the view on equality splits the two parties. I conclude: that the French secularism and the Swedish equality have played key roles; the ideal of liberal citizenship is being abandoned for a more partial state; and the view of the veil as simply oppressive is part of a colonial heritage that can be challenged..

In the West, travels are often regarded as a given. When tourism is studied it sometimes sounds as if all people have the opportunity to go on vacation when they want and wherever they want. That is not the reality for all. There are laws and regulations on visa requirement which makes it harder for nationals of certain countries to travel on holiday abroad. This essay examines the situation for residents of countries outside the EU and the Schengen Agreement.

Uppsatsen har till syfte att belysa sydafrikanska ungdomars syn på demokrati och jämföra denna med ungas syn på demokrati under 70-talet, när de stod i främsta ledet i kampen mot apartheid. Genom att intervjua ett litet antal ungdomar i Kapstadens förorter har jag fått en aning om hur de tänker omkring det nya politiska system som styr Sydafrika idag. Jag har jämfört dessa intervjuer med material från litteratur om ungdomars kamp mot apartheid för att försöka se om synen på demokrati förändrats något medan landet gått från apartheid till demokrati. Utifrån intervjuerna tycker jag mig kunna se ett missnöje med den demokrati som vuxit fram i Sydafrika efter apartheid. Efter tio år kan man se att processen har börjat men också att det går väldigt långsamt, något som är frustrerande när man är ung.Under kampen mot apartheid fanns en fiende, den rasistiska vita maktstrukturen, som man med alla medel försökte förgöra.

Denna studie avser att ur en positivistisk ansats analysera hur marknadsförare bättre kan nå ut till invandrarbefolkningen, inte minst i anslutning till de större utländska högtiderna. Syftet är att försöka få handlarna att förbättra marknadsföringen mot denna målgrupp och nå ut med ett budskap som de kan identifiera sig med. Undersökningen belyser ur ett nytt, innovativt och explorativt perspektiv de faktorer som kan tänkas inverka på marknadsföringen och ägnar särskilt uppmärksamhet åt Parsons teori, Homophily teorin och nischmarknadsföring. Undersökningen är uppdelad i en förstudie där kontakt tagits med reklambyråer för livsmedelskedjor och belyser forskningsproblemet ur deras synvinkel. Huvudstudien genomfördes via en enkätundersökning och syftar till att belysa problemet ur målgruppens synvinkel.

Syftet med den här studien är att ta reda på hur symboler och intertextualitet kan tolkas i romanen Älskade, skriven av Toni Morrison. Metoden som använts har varit närläsning, där texten har granskats ingående för att finna symboler. Även en läslogg har upprättats, där reflektioner angående symbolerna och intertextualitet nedtecknats. Utifrån detta och med hjälp av passande litteratur har symbolerna tolkats i de sammanhang de dyker upp i. Symbolerna har även förknippats med romanens karaktärer för att få fram deras personlighet.

Intimate partner violence is a problem which is increasingly drawing attention in society. The authority responsible for providing care and support to victims of intimate partner violence and their children is the social services. The purpose of this study was to show how social workers deal with intimate partner violence and to create a description of how this work is currently carried out in seven municipalities in the north-west of Stockholm. This was done through a quantitative survey including all investigating social workers in the municipalities concerned. The results were analysed with concepts from organizational theory.
