Use of lighting is crucial to make public urban
places available during dark hours. Landscape
architects participate in planning of lighting, but
during our education there is very little taught on
the subject. Through this study we approach the
subject of lighting by looking into lighting methods
for urban plant materials during winter.
In this thesis we look into ways to emphasize the
visible characters and experiences of urban plants
during winter season using light. Target audience
are landscape architect students and landscape
architects without knowledge of lighting. The part
of the thesis that describe basic conditions for, and
visual characters of plants can be useful to lighting
designers without knowledge in this subject.
Working methods used were the following:
? Pre-study about light and lighting techniques
through literature and dialogues.
? Compiling important visual winter plant
characters through photography and literature.
? Outdoor light experiments with plants.

Synchronous Latency Insensitive Design in FPGA
A design methodology to mitigate timing problems due to long wire delays is proposed. The timing problems are taking care of at architecture level instead of layout level in this design method so that no change is needed when the whole design goes to backend design. Hence design iterations are avoided by using this design methodology. The proposed design method is based on STARI architecture, and a novel initialization mechanism is proposed in this paper. Low frequency global clock is used to synchronize the communication and PLLs are used to provide high frequency working clocks.

This thesis introduces Kongjian Yu?s design approach in terms of industrial heritage conservation in connection to transformation and urban design. The approach is examined respectively on two cases from China and USA. The thesis give a brief introduction to current achievement in conservation research and general profile of industrial conservation practice. Based on case and theory study, Yu?s design approach is carefully applied to an industrial area Nyhamnen in Malmö and a design proposal is produced.

The objective of this project was to develop the visual identityof Halleluja, a brand new booking agency representing approximatelytwenty minor artists within a wide range of contemporarymusic styles.The outcome has been applied to business cards and awebsite yet to be produced. To attract the audience and differentiateitself from other booking companies, Halleluja featuresa minimalist design that speaks of dedication, breadth ofgenres and exclusive taste. Within the range of visual programming languages lay icon-based languages, form-based languages, and diagram languages.Mediator is a multimedia authoring tool that allows the user to create interactive CD-ROM presentations, dynamic HTML pages and Flash projects, without any coding or scripting. The user can create interactivity in her project, using event driven and icon-based visual programming, through a ?drag and drop? user interface. This report intends to determine some of the qualifications of a tool of this kind, as well as its limitations.The report is based on a case study, in which a smaller software application was to be updated using Mediator 9.

Arbetet som utförts består av två applikationer där båda presenterar information geografiskt på internet. Applikationerna har konstruerats i utvecklingsverktyget Visual Basic och med GIS-programvarorna MapObjects och MapObjects Internet Map Server. Den första applikationen som tillverkades är helt HTML-baserad (HTML är ett språk som används för att konstruera sidor på internet), vilket betyder att den fungerar som vilken sida som helst på internet, bortsett från att den kräver att en kartserver alltid har igång kartan i applikationen. Detta examensarbete undersöker vad som utgör effektiv visuell kommunikation. Litteraturstudier om kommunikation och designprinciper har utförts. För att få fördjupad kunskap har ett säljmaterial i form av en broschyr tagits fram åt ett företag där kunskap om effektiv visuell kommunikation applicerats. Detta har utgjort examensarbetets praktiska del. Arbetet har utförts efter Petterssons (2002) modell och resulterat i en broschyr med pop up- funktioner.

Lame dogs are a common group of patients for the practicing veterinarian. In the
literature it is described how a clinical examination can be performed, based on
general clinical-, orthopedic- and neurological examination, and visual evaluation
of the dog when standing and during motion. For research, objective gait analysis
systems are also used to study clinically healthy and lame dogs during motion.
The aim of this degree project was to compare objective kinematic gait analysis
with a visual evaluation of dogs with different types of lameness. The project was
a pilot study to show if objective gait analysis could be used as a support for the
visual examination.
Ten lame dogs of different breeds and with different diagnoses were included in
the study. They were all patients at the University Animal hospital, Uppsala.

A current issue today is to try to implement creative design as a way to solve wicked problems in scientific contexts such as HCI. Since the problems are wicked, they have no given solution which makes the traditional methods inadequate. In these cases, creative design can be an alternative. Creative design is not used in scientific contexts because it is viewed as something unaccountable.In this essay we argue that creative design not necessarily have to be unaccounted. We discuss various views of creative design and translate theory to a practical context.
Gamers and Game Design: Incorporating Users in the Design Process
This paper deals with the difficulties of applying user-centered design practices as an independent developer, based on the visualization of a game concept in the form of a prototype. The aim is to evaluate the usability of user-centered design practices, specifically in the field of games development. Throughout this paper, I will give an account of the methods used for testing, as well as a review of previous research done in this field of study. Finally, I will end with a discussion regarding the pros and cons of user-centered design, as well as some thoughts about its importance in similar projects..
