Take your phone out from your pocket and look at it. Chances are that a certain California-based company made it; in 2013, it was quite likely. If you flip it over and remove the shell you have added (or look through the protective film), you might also learn that it was assembled in China. Flip it over again and look at the picture of something or someone you find great affection for, protected by yet another thin film. While who made it and who assembled it might vary, and it does not matter from now on, the other parts about protective barriers and personalization might be more accurate.

The master thesis deals with three completely different areas: the place, the light and the design, which all are parts of the subject landscape architecture. The Place in this paper is the graveyard, the Light is the artificial and the Design is an illumination. The common denominator is the graveyard at Galärvarvet in Stockholm, Galärvarvskyrkogården, where the three parts meet in a clear and outspoken need of new lighting. The problem formulation is: Is it possible for a graveyard to be looked upon and used as a park? How do the administrators and the designers reason in this matter and what are the consequences for example the illumination at a graveyard? This is being investigated and discussed in general and thereafter the thesis is specifically focussed on the needs and solutions for the graveyard at Galärvarvet. The thesis, which is mainly based on facts from litterature, location studies and interviews, contains of pure parts of fact, discussion parts, different types of analyses, reflections of the author, illustrations and photos from the graveyard at Galärvarvet and also a lighting proposal for the graveyard and its close environment. The purpose of this work is to show the connection between the usage of the graveyard and its illumination. All to simplify for the administrators, planners and designers. Hopefully this thesis will be of use in the deciscion making process for future lighting projects for the graveyard administration in Stockholm as a basis for their discussion and decision process for future lighting projects..

The harbour in Arvika is closed down and the industry that has been established in the area is now beeing wound up. A deepened comprehensive plan for the area is under progress in the municipality. The intentions are for instance that the harbour should be integrated with the city and that Arvika is facing a lake should be more apparent from the city center. The harbour should also contribute to a more attractive city. These intentions have hence been the starting point of my undergraduate theses, which has resulted in a proposal on how to develop the harbour. During the process I have analysed the city image, how the area is used today and the public places in the city centre.

This essay is about a deserted medieval habitation called Skyttsie Hage which is located in the south of Sweden in the Scania province where it lies on a moor on the Falsterbopeninsula. Remains of five to six larger buildings have been found here with a surrounding earthwork, although it's not known for sure what kind of habitation they have been part of. Local folklore from the 17:th century states the area as a place where pirates lived, and that this was the reason for it's devastation. Another says that there once stood a breedingfarm belonging to the danish crown. Archaeologists have made several speculations which includes a deer park, a royal estate, an isolated farm or a smaller village.

In this thesis I will discuss how US respectively EU general international security policies are formed with the scientific theories Rational Choice and Cognitive theory in mind. I?ll discuss how come US tends to go towards a more sanction orientated strategy while European Union seems to prefer a dialog and diplomatic problem solving strategy. I?ll exemplify respective security strategy through the qualitative cases study of Iran and analyse why they have taken different cores of action while trying to solve the problem with Iran's alleged nuclear weapon.

Uppsala stad genomgår en stor förtätning och den urbana karaktären breder ut sig i allt större skala. Ett område i stadens östra del mellan stadsdelarna Sala backe och Årsta står inför en omfattande exploatering. På en yta motsvarande 80 hektar ska 2500 nya lägenheter och olika serviceinrättningar byggas. Satsningen på nya parker i samband med exploateringen är begränsad till endast en ny kvarterspark. Med ett öppet åkerlandskap utanför stadsgränsen och en dålig variation av parker innanför, är bristen på kvalitativa grönområden stor i denna del av staden.

Our purpose with this paper has been to analyse and discuss how motivation of the personnel affects the service quality in service companies. This has been done through two studies; a literature study with existing theories and an empirical study on the divisions of Lyckohjul and Shopping at Liseberg. In the introduction of this paper we put the question of research; why is there a need for work of motivation in service companies. When collecting information we used literature briefing, a questionnaire study and depth interviews. The literature briefing focused on the well-tried and most dominating theories on the subject motivation.

Boulognerskogen is a park in the central of Skövde that have had a health resort, paths for strolling, outdoor-bath, outdoor-sport areas and events. During the 1970:th there was a lack of interest for the park and very few visited it. By a motion from a resident in Skövde wich proposes that a city playground will be build in Boulognerskogen gave me an opportunity to investigate how the potential of the park can be used to create a funny and nice place to visit for children in company with adults. By a program that contains the main goals and design program for a city playground in Boulognerskogen, I wanted to present a proposal that could meet childrens needs to play and to use the conditions of the place to create places to play in, and where children in company with adults could be together. To reach this, I wanted to try different methods that could lead to a proposal that was well supported by children and adults, and wich was possible to use by the local authority in their further actions. The methods that I used was therefor an important part of the work. I have choosen to define the concept "city playground" as a greater playground situated in the center of the town that are suitable for outings and as a meetingplace, with a varation in playground attractions and promote children and adults to be together, aiming at younger children in the ages of 1-10 years in company with adults, but should also give space to activities of other groups.

SammanfattningUnder sommaren 2014 kommer de första vindkraftverken på Glötesvålen att sättas upp och en park bestående av 30 vindkraftverk beräknas vara klar senare under hösten samma år. Denna park kommer ligga i ett område med en stor besöksnäring som är beroende av att turister finner området som ett attraktivt besöksmål. Syftet med denna uppsats är att ta reda på vilka effekter turismnäringen ser av denna byggnation, hur turisterna kan tänkas reagera på denna samt om det finns skillnader mellan näring och besökare i denna fråga. Uppsatsen baseras på kvalitativa intervjuer med turistnäringen i området samt en kvantitativ enkätundersökning bland besökare. Studier som behandlar en likartad problematik används som referenser och källor i jämförelse med de egna resultaten.Delar av turistnärigen i området är oroliga över att en vindkraftpark kommer att leda till ett minskat besöksantal i området på grund av att området inte längre kommer uppfattas som lika genuint och opåverkat.

Ronneby torg är beläget centralt i Ronneby stadskärna i sydöstra Blekinge. På denna plats går det att identifiera tre problem som utgör brist på människor (social hållbarhet), rumslighet (mötesplats) och vegetation (ekologisk hållbarhet). Tidigare har torgets södra del innefattat en stadspark vid namn ?Gröna Torget? medan hela torget idag utgörs av en hårdgjord yta med inslag av träd i dess kanter. Det finns ett behov från Ronneby kommun att utveckla torget som en mötesplats, då kommunen utlyst en förslagstävling av just denna anledning.

Uppgift: Att rita den tilltänkta teknikbyggnaden till Nationalmuseum som planeras byggas efter att renoveringen av museet är klar.Eftersom Nobelcentrum planeras på tomten bredvid har jag intresserat mig för hur dessa två projekt skulle kunna samverka och dela funktioner i en gemensam byggnad. Nationalmuseums tilltänkta teknikbyggnad är placerad tillsammans med liknande funktioner inom Nobelcentrums byggnadskropp. Verksamheterna delar lastintag och uppställningsytor samt vissa verkstäder. De skulle även kunna dela hörsalar och auditorium.Nationalmuseums externa verksamhet är främst koncentrerad till Nobelcentrums sydvästliga del där funktionerna spänner över flera plan. Anslutning till huvudbyggnaden sker via en passage under mark.Nobelcentrum består av en lång byggnadskropp som omsluter museiparken.

To work with environments outdoors for people, animals and plants is the main topic for the landscapearchitect. On several occasions the work is about public places that is to be in relation with other parts of the town. It is about the activities and the life that take place. The physical environment and the interpretation of it gives possibilities or obstructions for people who moves around or spend time in it.Since public places, parks and places for movement are used in daily life they strongly effect the people who use the places. The concequences of this effect can be positive or negative experiences.A positive example is a passage over a brook on the way to school while a negative one is to be afraid while passing a tunnel when it is dark outside. Other examples of concequences are stress effect from traffic noice or calming environments with twitter of birds. The physical environment is also a part of the total interpretation of a town.

This master thesis is a study of how city cemeteries can be used and contributes to a socially sustainable urban development. Today sustainable development and sustainable urban development is something that more or less every organization is working with. Therefore it is also relevant to integrate our cemeteries in this work so that they can become a part of the sustainable urban development process.The thesis gives a basic understanding of sustainability as a concept and also defines socially sustainable (urban) development. The work then immerse itself in various types of park structures and how the relationship between the human individual and the public space work, to satisfy the needs that different people have.The literature study that has been made is also the base for the design of the walking interview that has been made for the two city cemeteries. The cemeteries that where studied where the Assistens cemetery in Copenhagen and the Eastern cemetery in Gothenburg.

Projektet ligger i Stadshagen på nordvästra Kungsholmen, där den omkringliggande bebyggelsen består till stor del av större kontorsbyggnader och är mycket varierad i storlek. Fokus låg tidigt på att hitta en byggnadsvolym för den speciella tomt som har angetts för projektet, nämligen den kuperade park en park ovanför tunnelbanestationen Stadshagen. Under projektets gång har avvägningen mellan hur mycket de enskilda lägenheternas kvaliteter ska få styra utformningen av volym och fasad samt hur volymen ska få begränsa lägenheterna varit viktig.Byggnaden innehåller åtta bostadsplan med fyra lägenheter på varje plan. Lägenheterna är utformade samma sätt på alla planen. Den största ligger i det nordvästra hörnet och är 71 kvadratmeter stor med tre sovrum.

Syftet med denna studie har varit att belysa behovet av ett utvecklat och förbättrat språk gällande utemiljöer i staden. Genom att använda ett utvecklat språk skulle det vara enklare för landskapsarkitekter att stärka rollen för utemiljöer i stadsplaneringssammanhang. Genom att fokusera på en typ av platskaraktär, det restorativa andrummet, hoppas jag nå närmre i att förstå den komplexitet och vikt av ett förbättrat språkbruk, och kanske även uppmuntra till att andra tar aktivt del i utvecklingen av språket beträffande utemiljöer.Genom litteraturläsning, platsbesök i olika städer och jämförelser mellan dessa platser, kommer jag förhoppningsvis att se bra och dåliga egenskaper som jag kan lära av och använda i det restorativa andrummet. Genom att definiera det restorativa andrummet ger jag mig själv rätten att namnge det. Som en avslutande del på arbetet kommer jag att göra en planskiss på ett restorativt andrum i Stockholm city.
