Th is thesis is about how to create communicative images. It is mainly for landscape architects. With communicative images, I mean images created with the purpose to communicate a proposal or idea in a direct way to. By only looking at the image, the viewer should get an idea of what the proposal entails. A communicative image should also create an interest in the proposal.

Event is a phenomenon that lately has become more common, especially within the tourism industry. This essay is a study within human geography and with focus on the meaning and the design of events. The purpose with this essay is to examine and describe the concept of event and to show how events can influence a region. Our thesis is an analysis of four librarians view on LGBTQ and which implications these views have on the practical work with LGBTQ issues in the public library. The three ideal types we can identify are the excluding, the including, and the normcritical approach. We also want to know if the four librarians? standpoints can be connected to the above mentioned ideal types. We can see that the area where the implementations of the three ideal types are most visible is the way LGBTQ material is displayed in the library space.

This essay is a textbook study where I aim to review four textbooks regarding some historical events in the subject History. The textbooks are used in junior high school and the historical events are as follows: the genocide that happened in Congo during the leadership of king Leopold II, the genocide on Armenians in the Ottoman Empire, the Holocaust and the Vietnam War.By performing this study I wanted to answer these three questions:What differences and similarities can be found in how the events circumscribed?How much space do the various events have and has it evolved through the years 1980-2009?How can this be explained?The study has been analyzed from a post-colonial perspective and the recurring patterns that appear show how the texts are post-colonial. The purpose of this study was to examine in which extent the comments about news inthe comment fields, on Swedish news sites Facebook pages were deliberative.To fulfill this purpose we used a quantitative content analysis as a method to interpretthe data that we collected about 2203 reader comments from three news sites Facebookpages. Ju?rgen Habermas theory about deliberative democracy together with theoriesabout public space and Web 2.0 were the theories we based our study on. To determinethat a comment was deliberative it had to contain an argument and be written withtolerance and respect. Our result showed that most comments lacked either one or bothof these criteria?s and therefore weren?t deliberative.

The aims of the practical work carried out for this thesis were to redesign a clinical decision support system for thoracic surgeons, called AssistMe, and to evaluate the concept behind this system. The main objective of the thesis is to give an account of the considerations that were found to be of key importance for designing a clinical decision support system for thoracic surgery. Another aim was to let future users test the system after it had been redesigned and evaluate the concept behind it. The thesis also investigates users? experience of the system and their views on whether it would be applicable in their daily work practice.

Projektet är ett förslag på hur man kan bygga nya bostäder, kontor och butiker i en av Stockholms större innerstadsparker. Hornsbruksgatan på Södermalm ligger längs Högalidsparken som kröns av Ivar Tengboms Högalidskyrka från 1923. I förslaget presenteras två byggnadskomplex med ett 30-tal lägenheter på drygt 1300 kvm samt ca 3500kvm för kontor och detaljhandel. Byggnadskropparna är tegelklädda med bärande stomelement i betongskivor.Förslaget handlar om hur husen möter parken och gatan som har två helt skilda karaktärer. Stadsgatan möter en allvarlig park för rekreation.

Det här kandidatarbetet behandlar hur en typisk förortsmiljö, Rotebro centrum i Sollentuna kommun, med hjälp av rådande blandstadsidéer kan utvecklas till att bli en miljö som präglas av blandade och integrerade funktioner. Med utgångspunkt i kommunens översiktsplan tas ett gestaltningsförslag fram med hjälp av rådande teori. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka och beskriva blandstad som ett planeringsbegrepp och se hur Rotebro centrum kan förtätas och utvecklas med en blandstadskaraktär för att upplevas trivsamt, tryggt och levande. Hur skapas en tydligare urban karaktär och vilka funktioner kan inkluderas. Genom aktivitetsobservationer, intervjuer och platsanalyser identifieras nuvarande problem och möjligheter.

Avancerad program- och funktionsstudie i form av multi-use-byggnad uppbyggd kring ett badhus i urban miljö i stadsdelen Fenway i Boston. Byggnadens huvudteman är "den klättrande parken" och "bakom muren". Det förstnämna genom att det befintliga parkrummet invid byggnaden tematiskt ges en förlängning in i byggnaden och trappar sig uppåt i badets olika nivåer för att mynna i en södervänd takträdgård och soldäck högst upp. Temat kring muren uttrycks genom en massiv långsträckt byggnad mot gatan som skärmar av det södervända badet från den trafikerade gatan. The sea-level is rising due to climate change. This report inquires into the possibleconsequences of sea-level rise in Värmdö and its archipelago with particular focus on roadsand buildings. Four scenarios with a sea-level rise of 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 meter and a worst casescenario of 3.9 meter are analyzed using a geographic information system (GIS) calledarcMap. The report also examines how Värmdö is taking into account future sea-level rise intheir planning today. The report´s findings show that uplift and sea-level rise cancel eachother out in the scenario with a sea-level rise of 0.5 meter, but that a number of more or lessimportant roads and buildings will be affected by a rise of 1.5 meters.

There are several known instances of megalithic graves being rebuilt and reused already in prehistoric time. The aim of this study is to investigate the phenomenom of megalithic reuse through the theorethical framework of social memory. Focus lies on two graves in southern Sweden; Firse sten in Falbygden and Skepparsl?v 10 in Scania. The two graves were originally constructed as passage graves but have in different ways been remodified into gallery graves.

In this paper we examine how young women present themselves on their weblogs. The main purpose of this study is to get their own opinions and thoughts about their own blogging, to see if we can find norms for how they present themselves and how the presentation online matches themselves offline. We put this in relation to information technologies, social software and Computer mediated communication, CMC. It´s also in our interest to see how the phenomenon of blogs, its role and methods of communication have changed and developed in the last few years, and whether there are differences in the way people use it according to age. The major finding is that, unlike previous research, the women in our study tend to be themselves in their weblogs and they do not manipulate their identities.
