This essay focuses on how the nations can communicate to keep their members.Material/method: I have done seven interviews with persons that work in three different nations and the head of the Curators convent (the collaboration center between the nations), I have read articles from the largest newspapers and web pages. I have also read the Commission of Inquiry's recommendation according abolishing the law regarding the compulsory nation and student union membership. Within the ambulance care in Uppsala County a vacuum splint is used to immobilize fractures on extremities. The research available on which method of immobilizing to prefer during pre-hospital treatment is limited. The purpose of this pilot study was to examine the perceptions of the ambulance personal in Uppsala County on the issue of usability of SAM-splint and vacuum splint when immobilizing extremities. The project was also aimed at researching if SAM-splint could be seen as an alternative or a complement to vacuum splint, and to get an apprehension on any evident differences in patients? perceived pain when treated with the two different approaches. A descriptive comparative study was carried out. All patients, regardless of age and sex, with the need of immobilizing supposed fractures, were included.  Patients with suspected femur fracture, collum fracture, or where pre-hospital care was not possible or in question, was excluded.

The purpose of this thesis was to examine how locally produced bioenergy may contribute to meet the climate target year 2050 in the municipality of Uppsala. The goal of reduced GHG-emissions from current 6,8 ton CO2-equivalents to 0,5 ton CO2-equivalents per capita and year, year 2050 is based on avoiding harmful penalties of an increased level of GHG in the atmosphere. By estimating available biomass in the county together with examining future technologies and emission factors for the substrates used, four possible future scenarios has been developed focusing either on electricity generation or production of biofuels. GHG-emissions of year 2050 have been calculated using the software LEAP. The conclusion is that bioenergy, depending on how it is integrated in the energy system, may reduce greenhouse gas emissions between 0.6 ton CO2-equivalents and 1.4 ton CO2-equivalents per capita or 12% to 25% compared to 5.5 ton CO2-equivalents in the reference scenario 2050. The greatest reduction is obtained if biofuels are produced in combination with energy efficient heat requirements in buildings..

Syfte: Syftet med föreliggande studie var att identifiera faktorer som skulle kunna få personal med förskrivningsrätt av FaR, verksam vid husläkarmottagningar i Uppsala kommun, att i högre utsträckning skriva ut fysisk aktivitet på recept. Syftet var även att ta reda på i vilken utsträckning som fysisk aktivitet på recept skrivs ut av undersökningsgruppen idag samt vilken inställning de har till arbetsmetoden.Metod: En enkätstudie genomfördes på sju husläkarmottagningar, geografiskt spridda inom Uppsala kommun. Enkäten bestod av både öppna och slutna frågor och har lämnats ut och samlats in vid samma tillfälle. 35 husläkare och 26 sjuksköterskor/distriktssköterskor har besvarat enkäten.Resultat: Resultaten visar på en övervägande positiv inställning till FaR bland vård¬personalen vid husläkarmottagningar i Uppsala kommun. 61 % av de svarande har förskrivit FaR, vilket visar på att antalet förskrivare ökat väsentligt sedan den kartläggning som gjordes av Folkhälsoenheten 2004.

Denna uppsats är resultatet av ett samarbete med Försäkringskassan i Uppsala län. Försäkringskassan och Länsarbetsnämnden tillhandahåller arbetslivsinriktad rehabilitering för sjukskrivna arbetslösa i länet. Samarbetet kallas tvåpartssamverkan och syftar till att individerna inom ett år ska kunna få ett arbete eller påbörja en utbildning. I vilka faktorer som leder till framgång respektive utgör fallgropar i tvåpartssamverkan. Sannolikhetsmodeller skattas med individdata för deltagarna i denna samverkan.

There is an ongoing process where the free market within the European Union is expanding, partly through the incorporation of new member states, partly through the signing of association agreements with nearby countries and regions. When trade barriers are removed in different ways more companies consider an internationalization of the company. However, the procedure of the internationalization of companies is a rather new and unexplored area in the context of research. The focus of this study is therefore to examine how a few companies situated in Sweden, has proceeded while searching for knowledge during the internationalization process. Data has been collected through interviews that have been balanced with information from Internet and other sources.

Upplevelseindustrins omsättning ökar men områden inom den följer inte samma utveckling, till exempel teater som tappat besökare de senaste åren. På uppdrag av Uppsala Stadsteater avser uppsatsen att ge en tydligare bild av studenters uppfattning och köpbeteende gällande Stadsteaterns utbud för att attrahera denna grupp som har låg besöksfrekvens. Genom att undersöka teaterns befintliga marknadsföring mot studenterna ges möjlighet att se hur den kan utvecklas för att mer resultatrikt nå ut till dem. Teorier om konsumentbeteende och marknadsföring av kulturorganisationer används för att analysera resultatet som insamlades genom en enkätundersökning bland studenterna. Studenter föredrar ett lägre pris samt att de förlitar sig på personer i omgivningen.

This essay is about possible causes to the female dominance in public libraries. We have focusedon the 20th century in Sweden and the development of public libraries during this time. Forthis purpose we have done a survey of three different cities, Uppsala, Jönköping and Skara,during three different years, 1938, 1958 and 1978. We have studied salaries, gender and titlesfor the employed at the head library in each city and then made comparisons between them.In conjunction, we have also studied how women were looked upon by the rest of society,regarding their education and work opportunities.To achieve a comprehension of the society's view of women we have, in the essay, put threedifferent theories of the so called "female nature" in center. The genderization in the labourmarket has also been set to discussion.A comparison between librarians, teachers at different levels, and postoffice employees, hasalso been made regarding their salaries during the years (1938, 1958 and 1978)..

Background: The lack of knowledge regarding preschool children's mental health prompted Uppsala University, in collaboration with Uppsala Kommun, to start a study in which children aged 3, 4, and 5 years are screened using the "Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire" (SDQ). This screening method has been introduced into the majority of Uppsala County child care centers (BVC), and the nurses' experience of working with this method is examined in this paper.Method: A qualitative approach with semi-structured questions was used to interview ten nurses who pioneered the SDQ Method. The interviews where recorded, transcribed and analyzed using content analysis.Results: Three themes and nine categories were identified from the interviews. The themes were: "Attitude and motivation are important when working with the form", "Clearer overall picture with preschool answer", and "A tool to identify difficulties". The results show that the nurses were satisfied with the form.

Sweden was transformed to a democratic industrial society in the late 19th century. Political influence had been bound to the four estates, nobles, clergy, burghers and farmers. The reforms of the 1860s moved Sweden towards political democracy with universal suffrage. At the national level a two-chamber parliament was established in 1866. Political power should now be a function of economic status.

Syfte: Att kartlägga patientgruppen som förskrevs Fysisk aktivitet på Recept, FaR® och hänvisades till friskvårdslots i Uppsala läns landsting under perioden 090701-091231 samt att undersöka eventuell skillnad i fördelningen av kön beträffande förändringsbenägenhet för fysisk aktivitet vid första kontakt med friskvårdslots. Vidare var syftet att se om de patienter som avslutade kontakten med friskvårdslots visade ökad förändringsbenägenhet för fysisk aktivitet. Metod: Patientdata tillhörande patientgruppen (n = 193) sammanställdes och kartlades efter insamling av friskvårdslotsar i Uppsala läns landsting. Patienternas förändringsbenägenhet för fysisk aktivitet bedömdes av friskvårdslotsen, enligt Stages of change-modellen, i samband med telefonkontakt. Förändringsbenägenheten för fysisk aktivitet vid första och avslutande telefonkontakt undersöktes hos de patienter (n = 39) som inom tidsramen för detta uppsatsarbete hann avsluta sin kontakt med friskvårdslotsen.

The study also aims to examine the company Academic Work and its communication efforts towards the targeted audience students.Method/Material: In order to examine the aim above, interviews were made with two persons involved in the communication of Academic Work. In addition to the interviews, a questionnaire was carried out at campus Ekonomikum, Uppsala University.Main results: The main result can be summarized as:· Academic Works communications have a lot of resemblance with the papers presented theory.· Events and direct meetings is the communication effort by Academic Work that has the biggest impact on student?s awareness and knowledge of the company.· A large majority of the students at campus Ekonomikum at Uppsala University are interested in working part-time and are aware of Academic Work.

Syfte: Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka vilka kommentarer och förslag bröstcancerpatienter i Uppsala/Örebro-regionen har avseende vården i samband med bröstcanceroperationen.Metod: Totalt 1573 kvinnor från kvalitetsregistret för bröstcancer i Uppsala/Örebro-regionen, som diagnostiserades med primär bröstcancer tillfrågades att delta i en enkätstudie. Av dessa besvarade 1050 kvinnor enkäten. Data insamlades med hjälp av en enkät med tre öppna frågor varav en ska analyseras i denna studie. Cirka 200 kvinnor svarade på denna fråga. Data analyserades med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys.Resultat: Resultatet av studiedeltagarnas svar visade att det finns en stor variation i vårdtillfredställelse, i samband med operationen, bland bröstcancerdrabbade kvinnor i Uppsala/Örebro-regionen.

Det som motiverar en människa behöver inte motivera en annan, det finns många olika faktorer som påverkar en människas motivation. I denna uppsats undersöktes vad som motiverade teknologer och naturvetare vid Uppsala universitet att engagera sig ideellt inom Uppsala teknolog- och naturvetarkår. Teorin som har använts är inre och yttre motivation, samt fyra behovsteorier; Maslows behovspyramid, Herzbergs tvåfaktorsteori, McClellands behovsteori och Alderfers ERG-teori. Utifrån denna teori togs 13 stycken nyckelord fram till en analysmodell, vilken sedan låg till grund för påståendena i enkäten. Metoden som användes i undersökningen var kvantitativ och resultatet visade att inre motivation hade mycket större påverkan än yttre motivation för ideellt engagemang.
