This essay is about possible causes to the female dominance in public libraries. We have focusedon the 20th century in Sweden and the development of public libraries during this time. Forthis purpose we have done a survey of three different cities, Uppsala, Jönköping and Skara,during three different years, 1938, 1958 and 1978. We have studied salaries, gender and titlesfor the employed at the head library in each city and then made comparisons between them.In conjunction, we have also studied how women were looked upon by the rest of society,regarding their education and work opportunities.To achieve a comprehension of the society's view of women we have, in the essay, put threedifferent theories of the so called "female nature" in center. The genderization in the labourmarket has also been set to discussion.A comparison between librarians, teachers at different levels, and postoffice employees, hasalso been made regarding their salaries during the years (1938, 1958 and 1978)..

Background: The lack of knowledge regarding preschool children's mental health prompted Uppsala University, in collaboration with Uppsala Kommun, to start a study in which children aged 3, 4, and 5 years are screened using the "Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire" (SDQ). This screening method has been introduced into the majority of Uppsala County child care centers (BVC), and the nurses' experience of working with this method is examined in this paper.Method: A qualitative approach with semi-structured questions was used to interview ten nurses who pioneered the SDQ Method. The interviews where recorded, transcribed and analyzed using content analysis.Results: Three themes and nine categories were identified from the interviews. The themes were: "Attitude and motivation are important when working with the form", "Clearer overall picture with preschool answer", and "A tool to identify difficulties". The results show that the nurses were satisfied with the form.

Sweden was transformed to a democratic industrial society in the late 19th century. Political influence had been bound to the four estates, nobles, clergy, burghers and farmers. Vidare var syftet att se om de patienter som avslutade kontakten med friskvÄrdslots visade ökad förÀndringsbenÀgenhet för fysisk aktivitet. Metod: Patientdata tillhörande patientgruppen (n = 193) sammanstÀlldes och kartlades efter insamling av friskvÄrdslotsar i Uppsala lÀns landsting. Patienternas förÀndringsbenÀgenhet för fysisk aktivitet bedömdes av friskvÄrdslotsen, enligt Stages of change-modellen, i samband med telefonkontakt. FörÀndringsbenÀgenheten för fysisk aktivitet vid första och avslutande telefonkontakt undersöktes hos de patienter (n = 39) som inom tidsramen för detta uppsatsarbete hann avsluta sin kontakt med friskvÄrdslotsen.

Syfte: Syftet med föreliggande studie var att undersöka vilka kommentarer och förslag bröstcancerpatienter i Uppsala/Örebro-regionen har avseende vĂ„rden i samband med bröstcanceroperationen.Metod: Totalt 1573 kvinnor frĂ„n kvalitetsregistret för bröstcancer i Uppsala/Örebro-regionen, som diagnostiserades med primĂ€r bröstcancer tillfrĂ„gades att delta i en enkĂ€tstudie. Av dessa besvarade 1050 kvinnor enkĂ€ten. Data insamlades med hjĂ€lp av en enkĂ€t med tre öppna frĂ„gor varav en ska analyseras i denna studie. Cirka 200 kvinnor svarade pĂ„ denna frĂ„ga. Data analyserades med hjĂ€lp av kvalitativ innehĂ„llsanalys.Resultat: Resultatet av studiedeltagarnas svar visade att det finns en stor variation i vĂ„rdtillfredstĂ€llelse, i samband med operationen, bland bröstcancerdrabbade kvinnor i Uppsala/Örebro-regionen.

I denna uppsats undersöktes vad som motiverade teknologer och naturvetare vid Uppsala universitet att engagera sig ideellt inom Uppsala teknolog- och naturvetarkÄr. Teorin som har anvÀnts Àr inre och yttre motivation, samt fyra behovsteorier; Maslows behovspyramid, Herzbergs tvÄfaktorsteori, McClellands behovsteori och Alderfers ERG-teori. UtifrÄn denna teori togs 13 stycken nyckelord fram till en analysmodell, vilken sedan lÄg till grund för pÄstÄendena i enkÀten. Metoden som anvÀndes i undersökningen var kvantitativ och resultatet visade att inre motivation hade mycket större pÄverkan Àn yttre motivation för ideellt engagemang.

The aim of this study was to investigate how the content of the syllabus for Physical Education and Health at Uppsala University correlates to selected parts of the core content of the Gy11 syllabus for Physical Education and Health 1 in Upper Secondary School. Furthermore we aimed to investigate the perceived competency of recently graduated and still studying teachers of Physical Education and Health within the selected parts of the core content.The selected parts of the core content are:Exercise, sports and outdoor activities that develop a comprehensive physical abilityThe adjustment of tension and mental training.The methods used were a qualitative comparative text analysis of the syllabuses for Physical Education and Health at Uppsala University and Gy11 Physical Education and Health 1 in Upper Secondary School, as well as a quantitative survey conducted with recently graduated and still studying teachers of Physical Education and Health.The results were that there is an obvious correlation between the content of the syllabus for Physical Education and Health at Uppsala University and the Gy11 syllabus for Physical Education and Health 1 in Upper Secondary School. Moreover the survey shows that the respondents felt confidence in their ability to teach exercise, sports and outdoor activities that develop a comprehensive physical ability. The survey also shows that the respondents felt less confidence in their ability to teach the adjustment of tension and mental training..

Beyond these problems, this thesis was also identifying if there was a balance or conflict between social life and studies from a social psychological perspective. This essay is based on five key questions: How does the subjective experience of stress and demands affect the interviewed law students? How do the interviewed law students handle the stress and demands in their studies and in everyday life? Do the interviewed law students consider there is a balance between social life and studies? How do the law students want to present themselves in front of classmates and teachers? What do the interviewed law students consider to be the main goal in life? Method/Material: The material used in this thesis consists of a total of ten interviews with law students of Uppsala University, five women and five men in the ages of 20 - 32.

Due to human influences on the climate an increase in Earth's mean temperature is today an accepted conception. With a rising temperature discussions have started how the climate in an area will change in the future. Equally interesting and important is it also to study the precipitation in an area. Precipitation is the factor, next to temperature, that affects most how a climate in an area looks like and feels. Since precipitation is connected to evaporation the latter parameter is also of interest to study.
