Human existence and welfare depend on functional ecosystems. Ecosystems are critical to sustain life-support services for human well-being. One method that visualizes that humanity requires ecosystem services for resource consumption and assimilation of produced waste is ecological footprints. This study focuses on the ecosystem service carbon sequestering. A quantification of this ecosystem service showed the potential for accumulation of carbon in different ecosystems in Stockholm and Norrbotten County for the years of 1995 and 2004.

Kungsgärdets sjukhus got its name the fouth of january 1965 and is still in use today. In 1981 the hospital and became merged into Uppsala Västra sjukvårdsdistrikt and stopped being a independet fonds.Predecessor to Kungsgärdets sjukhus was Centralepidemisjukhuset, more specific its Longterm care after the Infektionskliniken had moved to Akademiska sjukhuset the first of september 1965. In the Kungsgärdets sjukhus material of archive several diffrent fonds are included: Tunåsens sjukhus, Wattholma sjukhem, Östra paviljongen and Landstingets verkstäder. Geriatriska klinik is also included in Kungsgärdets sjukhus, however it is not a fonds but a ward. However all this makes it very difficult to establish the provenance of Kungsgärdets sjukhus, because it is impossible to know how all these fonds and its material of archive affects Kungsgärdets sjukhus as a fonds specially since the other fonds have not been organized and catalogued, and There for it is difficult to know were the provenance and the truth of Kungsgärdets sjukhus is.Kungsgärdets sjukhus arrived at Landstingsarkivet in Uppsala län together with several other fonds at different times.

För att avlasta akutmottagningarna i Uppsala samt öka tillgängligheten till vård och därigenom öka patientsäkerhet och vårdkvalitet öppnades år 2008 Uppsala Närakut.   Syfte Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka vilka orsaker som patienterna söker vård för på barnakutmottagningen och vilka av dessa patienter som skulle ha kunnat söka vård vid Uppsala Närakut.Metod Studien var en deskriptiv observationsstudie där data har bearbetats med både kvalitativ och kvantitativ ansats. Studien genomfördes under två veckor under hösten 2010 på barnakutmottagningen på Akademiska sjukhuset i Uppsala. Under observationstiden studerades sökmönster på barnakutmottagningen samt personalens bedömningar och eventuell hänvisning av patienter till Uppsala Närakut. Under studietiden gjordes 248 observationer vilka dokumenterades på ett särskilt protokoll.Resultat Sökorsaker som var vanliga på barnakutmottagningen var exempelvis extremitetsskada, feber och andningsbesvär.

Denna uppsats handlar om det kommunala miljöarbetet i Uppsala kommun. Kommunen har i över tio år arbetat med miljöfrågor vilket gör det intressant att undersöka hur miljöarbetet ser ut i kommun idag. Vi har valt att undersöka om Uppsala kommuns målstyrning med gröna nyckeltal fungerar i praktiken. För att exemplifiera Uppsalas miljöarbete för en ekologisk hållbarhet har vi valt att titta närmare på miljömålen Begränsad klimatpåverkan och Frisk lufts gröna nyckeltal. De teoretiska modeller som vi använt oss av är målstyrning med gröna nyckeltal och de fem utgångspunkterna för gröna nyckeltal.

Large amounts of birch-timber are imported to Sweden, from particularly the Baltic States, since the domestic production can?t support the pulp industry. The goal of this study was to show the potential of birch and the area?s most suitable for birch production. The study was limited to Gävleborg County. Using site characteristics, site index (SI) for birch was estimated on all National Forest Inventory plots in Gävleborg County.

Ett konstmuseum på 3000 m² i Uppsala vid Fyrisån. En utmejsling i det kulturella och historiska stadslandskapet i Uppsala där besökaren kan vandra längs museumet alla tider på dygnet. Genom att ge små glimtar lockas besökaren att besöka de samlingar av modern och klassisk konst samt den samling av grafiska tryck som finns på utställning. Formen tillåter rörelse i alla riktningar och förlänger kajen. Byggnaden är utformad i trä som är konturskuren på ytterskiktet med en stomme av ett rymdfackverk i stål.

Vår studie granskar personuppgiftshanteringen i Uppsala kommun och undersöker hur internationella dataskyddsriktlinjer påverkar deras arbete. Vår forskningsmetod är fallstudie och som datainsamlingsmetod utförde vi semistrukturerade intervjuer med personuppgiftsombudet på Uppsala kommun. Vi har sedan analyserat och diskuterat resultaten kvalitativt. De internationella riktlinjer vi studerat mest ingående är EU:s dataskyddsdirektiv, EU:s kommande dataskyddsförordning, OECD:s ?Privacy Framework? och FN:s ?Guidelines Concerning Computerized Personal Data Files?.

Denna uppsats är en kvalitativ fallstudie av Uppsala Baskets Nätverk, som är en mötesplats skapad för lagets sponsorer. Uppsatsen syftar till att studera om, och i så fall hur, Uppsala Baskets Nätverk skapar mervärde för sina medlemmar. Detta har genomförts med hjälp av observationer och intervjuer med Uppsala Basket samt dess sponsorer. Enligt vår studie får medlemmarna, genom sitt engagemang, relationsskapande och nätverkande, ut ett mervärde av sin sponsring. Vad de olika medlemmarna får ut av Nätverket varierar beroende på deras engagemang och hur viktigt de anser att det är att få ut något extra av sin sponsring.

Background: The lack of knowledge regarding preschool children's mental health prompted Uppsala University, in collaboration with Uppsala Kommun, to start a study in which children aged 3, 4, and 5 years are screened using the "Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire" (SDQ). This screening method has been introduced into the majority of Uppsala county child care centers (BVC), and the nurses' experience of working with this method is examined in this paper.Method: A qualitative approach with semi-structured questions was used to interview ten nurses who pioneered the SDQ Method. The interviews where recorded, transcribed and analyzed using content analysis.Results: Three themes and nine categories were identified from the interviews. The themes were: "Attitude and motivation are important when working with the form", "Clearer overall picture with preschool answer", and "A tool to identify difficulties". The results show that the nurses were satisfied with the form.

On the first January 2009 the official animal welfare control were transferred from the municipalities to the County Administrative board. With this transition, some changes occurred for those who work as animal welfare inspectors. The aim for this study was to examine farmers' view on the transition between the municipalities and County Administrative board, in order to compare the two authorities. I have also studied the farmers view about animal welfare inspectors' knowledge, both theoretical and practical. The questionnaire also included questions about farmers' view on animal welfare legislation.

The intent with this paper is to investigate the medieval habitation in central Old Uppsala. This time-period has over the years been neglected. Therefore I wish to summarize and ana-lyze the medieval habitation to see what can be said about its continuity, and also to investi-gate why it is located in certain areas.Due to the amount of source material I have limited my investigation area to the central Old Uppsala. It is possible that this limitation will affect the result of the research but without the limitations the investigation area would have been too large to handle.The source material has been collected from excavation reports and the summarized. My theory is material culture and material agency.

AbstractKonstenshus.nu är en organisation som jobbar för Uppsalas generella konstscen. Idag återfinns Uppsalas konstmuseum i  den södra flygeln på Uppsala slott. Lokalerna anses oflexibla och fyller inte de krav som ställs på ett modernt konstmuseum. Konstenshus.nu utforskar möjligheten om en ny byggnad skulle kunna uppföras för att husera Uppsalas konstmuseum och dess verksamhet på ett bättre sätt.En tomt invid det nya resecentumet i  den centrala delen av Uppsala har pekats ut som en potentiell plats för uppförandet av ett nytt konstmuseum, som bereder möjlighet till en framtida utveckling av verksamheten.Det har kandidatarbetet är resultatet av hur ett konstmuseum som uppförs på kattalin-tomten, invid Uppsala resecentrum skulle kunna se ut. Arbetet kretsar kring att undersöka hur ett potentiellt nytt konstmuesum skulle kunna bidra med estetiska kvalitéter den omkringliggande stadsväven, igenom att utifrån ett arkitektoniskt perspektiv gestaltas med ett eget och unikt uttryck..

The thesis investigates how Uppsala University student nations steward their cultural heritage. The survey targets how student nations manage their cultural heritage, what financial priority they give it, their attitude towards it, and their awareness of it.A qualitative study of semi-structured interviews with representatives from 11 out of 13 student nations in Uppsala was implemented. The theoretical framework is based on the theory of David Lowenthal on the importance of cultural heritage, Susan Pearce?s theory on collecting, and Pierre Bourdieu?s theory on cultural capital. To investigate the importance of cultural objects theories by Ivo Maroevi?, Annette Weiner, and Igor Kopytoff was applied.The survey shows that stewardship of cultural heritage at Uppsala student nations is poor and in need of reform.
