This master thesis is made in co-operation with the Department of Forest Management and Products at the Swedish University of Agriculture in Uppsala and the Forestry Association in Stockholm. The purpose of the Master thesis was to describe how pre-schools in Sweden use forests and green areas, and to understand how different factors can affect the use of the nature. The purpose of the interviews was to create a picture of attitudes and routines of the pre-schools, in the matter of visiting the nature. The thesis is built on interviews where fifteen pre-schools in five large cities around Sweden participated. Among these pre-schools, five of them worked with special focus on nature, while the other ten did not have any particular focus connected to their activity.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka förekomst av smärta som hindrade aktivitet hos barn och ungdomar med övervikt eller fetma. Samt att se förekomst av obehagskänslor inför och under fysisk aktivitet. Studien gjordes på 26 barn och ungdomar i åldrarna 8-19 år med övervikt eller fetma samt en grupp med 26 normalviktiga barn och ungdomar i åldrarna 10-19 år. Data samlades in genom en enkätundersökning på Överviktsenheten för barn och ungdomar på Akademiska sjukhuset i Uppsala och genom dietister i primärvården i Uppsala läns landsting samt genom personliga kontakter. Studien visade att smärta förekom i båda grupperna och ingen skillnad kunde påvisas mellan de båda.

The purpose with the study was to find a pattern in the behaviour of dairy cows which could be related to their social rank. A behavioural study was conducted at the University Cattle Research Centre (Kungsängen) in Uppsala, Sweden. The study included 12 lactating dairy cows, 6 high ranked and 6 low ranked. The cows were housed in a loose housing barn with an automatic milking system (AMS) to which they had access 24 hours a day. During the experiment the total number of cows in the barn was 46.

The purpose of this thesis is to examine the benefit of information literacy instruction in two student groups at Kristianstad University, in relation to development of critical information literacy and within the boundaries of the educational goals. This study takes on a critical information literacy perspective that combines critical pedagogy and standards for information literacy in higher education. Two methods have been used for data collection: interviews and questionnaires. According to the results of the study the information literacy instruction provided by the Kristianstad University Library is important and useful for the students in their academic studies. It also becomes clear that the information literacy differs between the two groups as a consequence of the varying information literacy instruction received by the two groups.

Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva hur överrapporteringen fungerar mellan ambulanssjuksköterskor i Uppsala län och sjuksköterskor på akutmottagningen på Akademiska sjukhuset i Uppsala från mottagande sjuksköterskors perspektiv. Metod: Empirisk deskriptiv tvärsnittsstudie med kvantitativ ansats. 60 enkäter delades ut varav 33 besvarades. Det gav en svarsfrekvens på 55 %. Resultat: Sjuksköterskorna på akutmottagningen har delade meningar kring hur överrapporteringen fungerar med ambulanssjuksköterskorna.

The project is an independent final examination part of the program in Innovation and DesignEngineering comprising 22.5 points, and performed by Mia Myrén Zreloff during spring term 2012. At Karlstad University has technical supervisor been Hans Johansson, and in the design- and development process it was Monica Jakobsson. Examiner has been Fredrik Thuvander, professor in the Faculty of Technology and Science at Karlstad University.The mission has been to make a basis work for the company's own development and make a computational model to calculate, visualize and implement materials and other solutions in the manufacture of the company's ball valves.The project has undergone three major phases that included thorough study of the company, production, the problem and product.

Till detta anväds temperaturdata frå bojarsom den amerikanska väertjästen National Oceanic and AtmosphericAdministration placerat ut i Stilla havet och insamlad information kring detropiska cyklonerna. Studien baseras pådata frå en 15ås period under åen1995 till 2009.Studien visar bland annat att antalet tropiska cykloner påerkas relativt mycketav de olika faserna i El niñ? Southern oscillation.

I denna uppsats diskuteras problematiken kring användandet av miljöredovisningen som ett beslutsunderlag vid leverantörsval. Syftet är att ta reda på om Vattenfall AB Värme Uppsalas miljöredovisning uppfyller de krav som ställs på den av externa intressenter i egenskap av beslutsunderlag. För att uppfylla detta syfte har de externa intressenternas intressen representerats av IASB:s kvalitativa egenskaper. På grund av denna substitution har vi valt att samla in det empiriska materialet genom intervjuer med två anställda på Vattenfall AB Värme Uppsala som arbetar med miljöredovisningen. Empiriskt material har även insamlats genom en källanalys av ?Säkerhet, hälsa och miljö 2006? som är den publikation där Vattenfall AB Värme Uppsalas miljöredovisning ingår.

This is a study of some risk factors for Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in dogs. As a pilot study it is meant to give information to be used in a planned later, larger and better controlled study. The present study hypothesized that suboptimal feeding (high percentage of homemade and table foods), lack of activity and overweight contribute to the risk of DM. Twenty consecutive dogs diagnosed with DM at the Veterinary University Clinic in Uppsala between 2000 ? 2003 were chosen as the experimental group.

A Large part of the education provided at colleges and universities of today requires for thestudent to be more independent in their studies. This demands that the physical space,where the students choose to study, is designed in a way that can encourage and supportlearning. It seems as though that many of the learning spaces of today don?t always meetthe students? needs. The university library at the University of Umeå is currently planningto design new learning spaces for the students.

This thesis analyses the problem of how to organise a multidisciplinary domain of knowledge like architecture. The study is both theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part include discussions of theories of knowledge organisation. Two different principles of classification were examined in relation to the domain itself, as well as in relation to the educational programme at the School of Architecture at Lund University and comparable schools in Sweden. The empirical part is a case study carried out at the School of Architecture at Lund University.

Immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia (IMHA) is an immune-mediated destruction of erythrocytes and is one of the most common haematological diseases diagnosed in dogs. The haemolysis is a type II immunoreaction and is initiated by IgG or IgM antibodies or complements. This retrospective study includes 63 dogs suffering from primary IMHA. The study was based on information from records from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences in Uppsala and from the Animal Hospital in Strömsholm. The aim of the study was to evaluate the progress of the disease, treatment and the prognostic factors in different breeds, gender and age. Following criteria were used for the dogs to be allowed in the study: the dogs were diagnosed with anaemia, the anaemia was regenerative and autoagglutination and/or spherocytes were seen in the blood. About 50 % of the dogs in the study were diagnosed with IMHA within 2-6 years of age. Wire-haired dachshund was remarkably one of the most common breeds in this study together with Cocker and Springer spaniel.

A Biogas plant in SLU?s (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) management sustains to behave in con-nection with the new animal stables at Lövsta. There will primarily manure from stables that rot to biogas. The biogas plant will also have the capacity that rot others substrates that can arise in the farm operation. The aim with the biogas plant is to produce non fossil electrical and gas heat for own customs, to reduce smell impact from stables and to make possible different types of research investments within the area.This study has implemented multiple cases study of different investment scenarios.

The first regulation concerning the protection of shores was introduced in 1950. The purpose of that regulation was to "secure the general publics condition of an outdoor life". The protection has been sharpened over the years and in 1975 a general protection of the shores was introduced, which meant that all land was protected within 100 meters from the shoreline. In 1994 a supplement was made with the purpose to "preserve good conditions for animal and plants on land and in water". The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) did an inquiry of the shore protection regulations commissioned by the Government in 2001. The inquiry pointed out that there were big lacks in the exemption decisions.
