Denna uppsats syftar till att undersöka utbildning och forskning inom fysik- och teknikämnenavid Uppsala universitet mellan åren 1955 och 1975. Här studeras dels växelverkan mellan tvåolika verksamheter; utbildning och forskning, och dels den lokala utvecklingen av, ochgränsdragningsarbetet mellan, två vetenskapliga discipliner; fysik och teknik. Förändringarnatolkas som resultat av interaktion mellan forskning och utbildning å ena sidan, och utbildning ochandra samhälleliga arenor å andra. Uppsatsen diskuterar Thomas Gieryns teori om att epistemiskauktoritet hos en vetenskap uppkommer nedströms, i en samhällelig arena utanför forskningendär den uppkom. I uppsatsen drivs tesen att lärogång inte enbart kan räknas som nedströms irelation till forskning utan som uppströms, nedströms och mer därtill.

This is a 20 points graduation thesis, performed at the Department of Urban and Rural Development at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Uppsala. The main aim of this thesis is to examine what it is like to combine studying with working and starting your own company. Furthermore, I want to be able to convey this knowledge to others. An important part of being a landscape architect is informing people, and making rather abstract issues tangible. The word 'entrepreneur' is originally French. Today, we think of entrepreneurs, or contractors, as energetic people, who dare to try new ideas. There are many reasons why people start their own company, but the most common ones are the wish to fulfil oneself and to be able to plan one's own time.

The aim of this Master's thesis is to investigate the library needs of distance students. This user study has a student perspective and concentrates on the main question of which way library needs might be expressed by distance students. Associated topics addressed by this study include; the problem of learning centres lacking their own library support, how distance students look upon library support as a concept and whether distance students prefer public libraries or university libraries, and why they make this choice. These questions may give the answer to how distance students deal with information literacy. Theories chosen by the study are in the fields of pedagogical and library science, the social cultural theory by Roger Säljö and in Tom Wilson's theories on user studies and information needs.

Sedan oktober 2011 sköter Sjukvårdens Larmcentral, SvLC, utalarmeringen av akuta sjukdomsfall som inkommer vid 112-samtal. Samtidigt infördes ett nytt medicinskt beslutsstöd för de sjuksköterskor som tar emot de akuta samtalen. Då orsaken till buksmärta är komplext och svårt att identifiera hos patienterna valdes just detta tillstånd för granskning.Syfte: Att undersöka om det medicinska beslutsstödet för sjuksköterskorna på SvLC i Uppsala län är en tillförlitlig hjälp i identifieringen av patienter med akuta buksmärtor, samt att undersöka om det fanns ålder-eller könsskillnader.Metod: En empirisk kvantitativ studie med en retrospektiv journalgranskning. Sammanlagt 151 patienter som ringt ambulans på grund av buksmärta och som av larmcentralen prioriterats som livshotande (prioritet 1) eller brådskande (prioritet 2) har granskats.Resultat: SvLC´s initiala bedömningar stämde väl överens med de prehospitala bedömningar sjuksköterskan i ambulans gjorde. Hos prio1-gruppen hade 48 % diagnostiserats buksmärta UNS, det vill säga buksmärta utan närmare specifikation, och hos prio 2-gruppen var det 40 % som fått samma diagnos.

I have for my one year master's thesis worked on arranging and cataloging the archives from the missions stations of Musana, Congo-Brazzaville and Sundi-Lutete, Congo-Kinshasa, belonging to the Swedish Missions Church (Svenska Missionskyrkan). The archives contained records written in Swedish, French and Kikongo, from primarily the years 1910 until 1961. Records have though been found that adhere from both prior to and after these years. These archives are deposited at the Swedish National Archive and it was therefore important to take the opinions and regulations of both parties into consideration, as well as relying onto archival theory.The archives were initially scattered and had in some parts been organized by an archivist without formal schooling. The major difficulties in this work has therefore been to establish the provenance ? to which creator the documents belonged to, and also to decide to which degree the principle of the original order should play a part.

Title: Establishing in China?s ?good-enough? market - A benchmarking study on Scandinavian engineering industries? further establishment in China. Problem discussion: The Chinese market is gaining importance for Scandinavian engineering industries and is by many considered a crucial market to be successful in. These companies have a tradition of producing premium products for premium customers. However, in China many are currently experiencing the threat from local competitors producing products of somewhat less quality aimed at the vast Chinese middle market - the good-enough market.

The major aim of the thesis is to describe the networks, relations and marketing of some university libraries and their customers in the year 2000. I illustrate how these issues interact and whether they have changed due to the recent development of technology and if so, how. The thesis is based on interviews with two directors of libraries and two librarians at two different libraries. A small survey with 16 questionnaires has also been performed in order to get a more general view on librarians' opinions in these questions. The thesis mainly shows that the networks in which the respondents take part primarily exist in the library sphere and towards the universities.

The teaching of modern foreign languages within Swedish educational system has been a subject of a number of alarming reports in recent years. Several studies have shown that students lack motivation to learn any language but English. Of particular concern is the young males? underachieving and disinterest in foreign languages. In the meantime, a number of international studies and the statistical data from Swedish national agencies of secondary and higher education (Skolverket and Högskoleverket) have indicated that Russian is one of the languages that are favoured by males. The primary goal of my case study was, therefore, to examine students? motivation to learn Russian and their attitudes towards language, community and Russian-speaking people.

Studiens syfte är att undersöka vilken kunskap och erfarenhet socialsekreterare i Uppsala län har gällande sambandet mellan mäns våld mot kvinnor och våld mot husdjur, samt deras erfarenhet av att bevilja ekonomiskt bistånd för kostnader kopplade till våldsutsatta kvinnors husdjur. För att bäst belysa vår studies syfte och besvara våra frågeställningar valdes en kvantitativ ansats och en enkätundersökning genomfördes. Materialet omfattar svar från 142 respondenter från sju kommuner i Uppsala län. Enkäten innefattade även en öppen fråga vilken utmynnade i ett kvalitativt underlag. Tidigare forskning visar att mäns våld mot kvinnor är ett stort samhällsproblem samt att det förekommer ett samband mellan mäns våld mot kvinnor och våld mot husdjur. Resultaten i föreliggande undersökning visar att majoriteten av socialsekreterare har vetskap om sambandet mellan mäns våld mot kvinnor och våld mot husdjur, samt ser ett behov av jourhem för våldsutsatta kvinnors husdjur.

Centralt belägen offentlig mark är i regel ytor som används effektivt. Kommunerna behöver göra avvägningar mellan praktiska lösningar och rekreativa miljöer för att skapa en fungerande stadskärna. Parkering och parkmark är exempel på samhällsnyttiga faktorer som behöver erbjudas i stadsrummet. Österplan i Uppsala är en kommunalt ägd yta som består av lika delar parkering och parkmark. Uppsalas mest centrala delar saknar kvarterspark i närområdet, vilket Österplan skulle kunna erbjuda.

This report is a thesis for collegeengineering program in structuralengineering at Uppsala University andwas commissioned by the Swedishcontractor Svevia. The study aims toprovide an overview of the mostbeneficial bridge material from bothenvironmental and economic point ofview.The life-cycle analysis covers onlycarbon dioxide emissions, since it isthe most spoken of in today?s climateagenda. Furthermore, this study aims tohighlight which parts, of the systemboundary, that contributes to greatercarbon emissions for the wood- and theconcrete bridge.The life-cycle cost analysis wascalculated with a lifespan of 40 yearsand covers the basic cost of investment,operating and maintenance, anddecommissioning costs.The analyzed constructions in this studyare existing projects that are almostcompleted. Both bridges were designed tohandle loads up to 60 tons.

The main subject with this master thesis is to take a closer look at university libraries specially Gothenburg University Librarys operation of marketing the librarys user contact, how it receives various users demands and carry out the interactive and strategic marketing. Marketing is planning, structuring, implementation, analysis and controls of carefully formulated programs, designed to bring voluntary interactions and relations with the target markets, for the purpose of achieving organisational and user satisfaction objectives. The structure of this thesis covers three main parts. Part I reflects the researchers approach to the subject. Marketing researchers such as Grönroos, Kotler, Bryson, De Sáez and Gummesson among others are presented.

The aim of this study was to examine if parents, of children diagnosed with ADHD, exprerienced any changes regarding their childrens appetite after starting psycostimulant treatment. Further more the aim was to examine what kind of changes concerning the appetite that were found and if they affected the meal situation as a whole.Method: A questionnaire study was conducted in the spring of 2011. The study included 81 parent?s to children who were enrolled at the Habilitation in Uppsala and medicated with psychostimulants for ADHD. The children's ages ranged between six and 18 years.

The aim of this master thesis was to examine the European Commission's information resources from a user perspective in order to clarify the needs and circumstances of the search of EU-information among students at Örebro University. 41 students participated in a survey, and four of them was interviewed. On the basis of Pendelton- and Chatmans theories of information behaviour in small worlds, it were assumed that the students' education and citizenship in the European Union affected their needs and the search of EU information.The study showed that the students needs for EU-related information has increased, with the current education, but also been linked to earlier educations. The students Citizens need were mainly associated with elections such as the EMU-election, but also in some cases to a need of the general knowledge.A review of the European Commission's information resources were made with an emphasis on European Documentation Centre, EDC. The survey showed that most students used the EDC and the EU-databases that was made available by the European Commission through the EDC and the university library but were not aware that they used EDC.The survey also showed that students made use of familiar sources and resources when they searched the EU-information, such as the library's regular database list, the library catalogue and search engine on the internet are not requested of other resources.

Växtgestaltning är ett av landskapsarkitektens viktigaste verktyg. Det är också en komplex process eftersom växtmaterialet förändras beroende på faktorer som ståndort, växtzon och årstid. I mitt arbete har jag undersökt växtgestaltningsprocessen genom att ta fram ett förslag som fokuserar på växtgestaltning för hela året. Arbetet har skett genom inventering, analys och intervjuer som ledde fram till ett gestaltningsprogram och en konceptidé. Vid valet av växter använde jag mig av Nick Robinsons metod ?funktion, karaktär, ståndort?.
