The purpose of this thesis was to find out whether the main class C (religion) in the Swedish classification system Klassifikationssystem för svenska bibliotek is well adapted to classify materials published in or imported to Sweden, and handled by Swedish libraries today. The questions we put to ourselves were:1. How easy to understand, and how useful is the main class C religion today?2. What, in the main class C, is satisfactory?3. What, in the main class C, is inconsistent, anachronistic or incorrect?4. What, in the main class C, is in need of change or renewal?The method that was used was a number of interviews with librarians and cataloguers. We have interviewed eight librarians from six different libraries, of different types, but all with a relatively large collection of religious materials.Though all of our respondents have expressed a feeling that all the major religions deserve equal treatment in the classification system and a similar division of space, after some pondering on the subject, our respondents have agreed that a larger space for Christianity is warranted considering the composition of the current collections and publication. Our respondents have in some cases expressed that there is a lack of instructions as to how the subdivisions of the main class C (religion) is meant to be used.

The purpose of this Bachelor's thesis is to study the reasoning behind classification, cataloging and shelf arrangement of nonfiction graphic novels in public libraries. The aim was to examine which aspects of accessibility influence in which collection nonfiction graphic novels are placed.With qualitative semi-structured interviews we learned how six librarians motivated their choices concerning nonfiction graphic novels. We also interviewed a cataloger from Bibliotekstjänst to examine how nonfiction graphic novels are classified. In our analysis we compared our results to theories and practices concerning alternative shelf arrangements in libraries and legitimization of graphic novels. We found three types of shelf arrangements for nonfiction graphic novels: graphic novel shelf, nonfiction classification code and a mix of the two.

Abstract: The aim of this study is to investigate the attitudes towards the labour movement?s strategies, goals and organisational issues in Swedish Miners? Union?s (Gruvindustriarbetareförbundet, hereafter Gruv) paper, Gruvarbetaren 1917-1925.The theoretical starting point is Engels? view on the class state. This perspective turns the question of socialism and the way to get there into an issue of working class power over the state. Another theoretical perspective is the partition of the labour movement into a trade-unionistic branch, seeing unions as financial organisations of interest, and a pro-state one, considering unions as political organisations.During the period investigated Gruvarbetaren was quite radical and advocated a firm class struggle strategy towards employers. Since these were considered unreliable, class struggle was seen as the only way to better the conditions for the working class.

Forskning visar att barn ofta har lite att säga till om vid insatsen umgängesstöd. Barns inställning till umgänget efterfrågas sällan, vilket motiveras med att de är för unga, att de på grund av omognad inte förmår uttala sig på ett tillförlitligt sätt och att de ska slippa välja mellan sina föräldrar. Barnkonventionens ambivalenta syn på barn som både subjekt med rättigheter och skyddsbehövande objekt, avspeglas i den svenska lagstiftningen och kan förklara den passiva roll som barn ofta tilldelas i sammanhanget. Samtidigt visar forskning att barn efterlyser mer delaktighet i frågan om umgängesstöd. Den här studien undersöker hur bilder av barn konstrueras och hur barn delaktiggörs i domar om umgängesstöd, samt hur bilder av barn kan relateras till hur barn delaktiggörs.

Using a feministic perspective and a critical approach, my purpose is to discuss bibliographic classification, a central aspect of Library and Information Science. More specifically, my aim is to demonstrate the norms and the dominating thoughts regarding the organization and representation of knowledge, subjects, and social categories in classification systems. I review previous research involving critical approaches to classification. These show that classification systems are a reflection of the context in which they are created, with the result that universal assumptions can be questioned. Some studies also present problems inherent in hierarchical structures.

The aim of this thesis is to describe and evaluate the usability of two Swedish systems, Sofie and Carlotta, which are used to organize and present data regarding museum objects on the web. This thesis also presents how objects are described and made accessible to the public in the two systems. To evaluate the usability, a heuristic method combined with Systematic Usability Evaluation has been used. The description and accessibility of object representations in the systems are evaluated using indexing and classification theories from the field of Library and Information Science. Additional theoretical background that has been used is how users search and browse information systems.

The Library of Uppsala University has decided to change their classification system from the Swedish SAB system to the American Dewey Decimal Classification. One of the main reasons for this decison was that Kungliga biblioteket also has made an exchange between these systems. Due to that, the national bibliography of Sweden classifies Swedish documents according to Dewey Decimal Classification and the SAB system is no longer maintained. A transition to Dewey Decimal Classification will enable Swedish librarians to import foreign catalouge posts and classification codes and will provide them with a common standard between their libraries and other libraries due to the use of the same international classification system. It is disputed whether the Dewey Decimal Classification is equally suitable for all subjects.

För att vara konkurrenskraftig i dagens globaliserade företagsklimat krävs kostnadseffektiva lösningar som gör det möjligt för företag att möta kundernas krav gällande såväl kvalitet som pris och förmåga att leverera enligt överrenskommelse. Gevalia, ett producerande företag i Gävle, har problem med långa ställtider som markant drar ner deras effektivitet. En universell vedertagen metod för att minska ställtider är SMED, Single minute exchange of die, som anses kunna göras kompatibel i alla typer av industrier. Syftet med detta examensarbete var således att undersöka orsakerna bakom de långa ställtiderna samt hur dessa kan minskas. Vidare skulle en analysstruktur för ställtidsreduktion skapas.  För att uppnå syftet har intervjuer och observationer gjorts på Gevalia, samt en litteraturstudie kring berörda områden. Analysstrukturen som skapades är inspirerad av SMED och PDCA-cykeln. Strukturen innefattar även andra metoder som bland annat 5 Why och 5S, samt tar hänsyn till det mänskliga beteendet.

The purpose of this thesis is to study the relationship between the definition and bibliographical classification of a certain academic subject; social anthropology. The theoretical framework consists of views held in Information Science regarding the definition and classification of subjects. The methodological onset is based on hermeneutical concepts that allow an extended analysis of abstract structures of thought. This analysis comprises of two parts; a descriptive analysis and a comparative analysis. The result of the descriptive analysis, whose aim is to describe the academic subject social anthropology, shows that this is not easy to define, instead it is nowadays almost the same as cultural anthropology.

Syftet med det här examensarbetet var att undersöka hur förskollärare vid två förskoloruppfattar begreppet "lärande för hållbar utveckling" samt hur det kommer till uttryck iverksamheten. Syftet var vidare att undersöka hur sociala aspekter av lärande för hållbarutveckling levandegörs i förskolepraktiken. De sociala aspekterna i denna studie är hur barn ges möjlighet till inflytande, hur barn ges möjlighet till kritiskt tänkande samt förskollärarens demokratiska förhållningssätt. Vi ville med studien också uppmärksamma möjligheterna attarbeta medvetet kring dessa frågor i förskolan vars grund vi antog redan finns iverksamheterna. Vi valde att göra undersökningen som en fallstudie med en samtalsmetod som kallas stimulated recall, samt observationer av verksamheten med hjälp av ettobservationsschema.

Barnfattigdom är ett relativt nytt begrepp som florerar en del i dagens debatter. Dock råder det ovisshet om vad begreppet faktiskt betyder eftersom det finns så många olika definitioner av begreppet fattigdom.De som till största del arbetar mot barnfattigdom är ideella organisationer. Två organisationer som är särskilt framgångsrika i arbetet är Rädda Barnen och Majblomman. De är båda kända organisationer som har ett stort förtroende, men de har två olika sätt att bemöta och arbeta mot barnfattigdomen. Även skolan har ett stort ansvar för att se till att barn inte hamnar i utanförskap.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to study how well the online catalogue of The Music Library of Sweden works when ordinary users are searching for sheet music. The issues studied are: Why do the users fail to find the sheet music they are looking for? Do the users take advantage of the possibilities that the classification codes of the SAB system offer? If not, why?The source material of the study is 144 comments from a user questionnaire about the online catalogue and, in addition, the search log for one day (513 queries). The comments were sorted into seven groups depending on the type of information need, for example searches for certain instrumentation or genres and problems with spelling.

Sedan Sverigedemokraternas inträde i den politiska debatten har det diskuterats hur medierna ska bemöta partiet. I ett brev från Jimmie Åkesson till chefredaktörer runt om i landet i samband med valet 2010 vädjade han att Sverigedemokraterna skulle bli behandlat som övriga partier. Samma år kom partiet in i riksdagen och har sedan dess fått ett allt starkare väljarstöd i främst Skåneregionen samtidigt som stödet varit svagt i framförallt Stockholm, Västerbotten och Gotland. Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka hur tidningarna gestaltade och rapporterade om Sverigedemokraterna fyra månader före valet 2014 i regionerna där partiet fick högst respektive lägst väljarstöd i samma val. Vi har gjort en kvantitativ innehållsanalys baserat på 464 artiklar från tio tidningar. Vi har analyserat fem tidningar från Skåneregionen och fem tidningar från Stockholm, Västerbotten och Gotland.
