The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the relationship between space and consumer interaction at WEEKDAY, a contemporary fashion retail store in Malmö, Sweden. The thesis is based on a qualitative case-study and has a social constructionist approach. In order to understand the interaction taking place between consumer and environment we conducted observations guided by Kenneth Burke?s Pentad.The retail servicescape at WEEKDAY is conceived as a metaphorical stage where drama unfolds, analysing and defining the retail space using Kenneth Burke?s pentad of dramatism. We concentrate on the use of two terms of Burke?s pentad, the scene and the act, almost exclusively as we investigate how the scene stimulates the act.

The purpose of this study has been to examine how Afro-Cuban musical traditions and concepts are integrated in compositions for solo guitar by the Cuban guitarist and composer Ñico Rojas and how this can be expressed in the performance of his music by a classical guitarist. For this purpose a guide to Rojas music, which is included in this report, was written based on literature about Afro-Cuban music. Then a classical guitarist learned to play a piece by Rojas with help from the written guide. The result was examined using recordings of the guitarist's interpretations and an interview with him. The conclusion is that different aspects of the Afro Cuban musical tradition are present in Rojas? music, but that the concept of the clave was the most useful aspect for the classical guitarist that interpreted the music of Ñico Rojas in this study..

Med bakgrund av de händelserika åren 1917-1920 (ryska revolutionen, världskrigets slut, Versaillesfreden, bildandet av NF med mera) vill jag se vad det kan finnas för framtidsvisioner och farhågor vad gäller utvecklingen i Europa i några svenska tidskrifter mellan åren 1920 och 1923. Den största fredsglädjen har vid denna tid lagt sig och de första konsekvenserna av kriget var allmänt kända och debatterade.Jag väljer att granska sex stycken tidskrifter, vilka dels har olika politiska inriktningar; en konservativ, en socialistisk, en högerextrem, en vänsterextrem. Dels med olika intressesfärer; Allmänna försvarsföreningens tidskrift och Svenska freds- och skiljedomsförenings tidskrift.Versaillesfreden blev genomgående utdömd i de analyserade tidskrifterna. Freden måste inom kort revideras, fredligt med initiativ från segermakterna, eller så var ett nytt världskrig oundvikligt. Många skribenter förutsade att de hårda villkoren skulle stärka den tyska nationalismen, och att Tyskland snart skulle samla krafter till ett revanschkrig..

This examination studies the gender balance of contemporary art exhibitions in Sweden. To what extent genders are equally represented assumes to be based on how the curating process considers equality work. Three categories of art organisations are studied with the intention to determine differences in equality approach between the categories. Official documents of each organisation are examined to understand how they formally relate to equality work. Statistics of the actual gender balance of each organisation are produced based on the last two years exhibition archives.

Hamling och andra former av lövtäkt för utfodring av tamboskap, var tidigare mycket vanligt men har minskat betydligt fram till våra dagar. Arter, som under åtminstone ett par tusen år anpassat sig till ett liv i, eller i anslutning till de hamlade träden, hotas idag av utrotning. För att kunna säkerställa fortlevnaden för dessa arter samt för de hamlade träden och hamlingen som tradition, krävs kunskap, dels om hamlingsförfarandet i äldre tider, dels om förekomsten av hamlade träd i dagens landskap. Genom att samla in och datera grenprover, kartlade jag i detta arbete senaste hamlingstidpunkt i Bråbygden, i Oskarshamns kommun. För att bedöma hamlingens utförande och potentialen för ytterligare hamling i området, studerade jag också förekomsten av döda träd med hamlingsspår, grova (brösthöjdsdiameter över 30 cm) askar, lindar och lönnar utan hamlingsspår, samt tillgången på tänkbara nya hamlingsträd. En enkät ställd till markägarna i området samt en omfattande litteraturstudie över hamlingens praktik och historia i Sverige ingick också i studien. På de 72 fastigheter som besöktes, tog jag prover från 406 träd.

The purpose of this essay is to analyse how and why culture and tradition is created and maintained within a minor student society at a Swedish university by looking at its history. The West Coast Nation student society provided the material which was subsequently analysed and three sociological perspectives were applied in order to give the study a theoretical base. In order to investigate the purpose of the society, durkheimian theories on functionalism were applied. Moreover, Bourdieu?s thoughts on social fields were used as well as Elias? theories on the established and the outsiders.

The problem being examined is the disturbing noise that is created in an open plan office on a company working with a creative process, such as a newspaper or a communications agency. The purpose of this study was to examine the needs for today for a sound absorber in open offices and create and design a design proposal. The aim is also to develop a marketing material the product proposal. The problem has been broken down into the following questions:- How does the user look at the need of a sound absorber in an open offices solution today?- Does an interior designer apply sound absorbers when they furnish the intended environment? - How can a design that meets the needs that exists be achieved and to speak the user?The study is based on three choice of methods a literature review on selected topics that relate to the topic, an interview with an interior designer to explore how an interior designer applies absorbers in open plan office and finally an extensive survey that treats the user's needs and appropriate appearance for the product proposal.The design process has undertaken the following methods, design brief, requirements specification, functional analysis and sketches to produce the final product proposal.

Den här undersökningen belyser hur Norrköpings Auktionsverks image ser ut och vad som kan göras för att deras grafiska profil ska överensstämma bättre med den. Genom att skicka ut en enkät till auktionsverkets kunder samlades åsikter och attityder kring företaget och deras nuvarande grafiska profil. Utifrån enkäten kunde man utläsa att kunderna förknippar Norrköpings Auktionsverk med professionalitet, tradition, seriositet samt förtroendeingivning. Många tyckte dock att logotypen kunde utvecklas till något mer än bara typografi och att man tydligare borde visa att man arbetar med äldre och antika föremål. Idag använder sig företaget av en logotyp utformad på 1990- talet, som innehåller företagsnamnet skrivet i en vinröd färg, samt ett horisontellt streck som löper längs textens överkant.

Bakgrund: Det har visat sig att det i många fall kan vara svårt att jämföra kalkylinformation mellan likartade enheter trots att dessa använder sig av samma kalkyleringsmetoder, särskilt om enheterna i fråga är geografiskt placerade i regioner med olika kalkyleringstraditioner. Det är därför av intresse att undersöka hur kalkylinformationen kan skilja sig åt i dessa fall. Syfte: Syftet är att analysera försäljningsomkostnader med hänseende på deras urval och värdering i kalkyler. Genomförande: Vi har genomfört en casestudie med intervjuer med tre enhetschefer i den svenska divisionen samt med tre engelska chefer för motsvarande enheter i den brittiska divisionen inom en och samma globala koncern. Resultat: Vi finner i vår studie att kalkyltraditioner spelar en stor roll för vad kalkylinformationen visar, men att det även förekommer stora skillnader mellan enheter som har samma kalkyltradition.

The aim of this study is to examine new interpretations of homosexuality in Islam based on Scott Kugle?s book ?Homosexuality in Islam? and the documentary ?A Jihad for love? by Parvez Sharma. Through a theological perspective, a critical analysis is performed in order to find new interpretations and compare them with each other and with the Islamic legal tradition. Argumentative analysis is also used for both the book and the documentary for this essay.     Both Kugle and Sharma use new interpretations and arguments about love to find space for homosexuality in Islam. They use a Muslim language to have relevance with their discussions to Muslim readers and viewers.

This masters thesis is a gender study of the role of the artist in childrens literature of art. The study comprises forty-three childrens books presenting the life of a historic, contemporary or fictional artist. The books are published from the 1960s to the present day. They are written or translated into Swedish and available in Swedish libraries. The representation of the artist is examined separately in the text and in the illustrations.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the female reader of science fiction literature, a genre by tradition dominated by men. Through qualitative interviews with seven female science fiction readers, the relation between the reading and the readers? lives, as well as their concepts of the science fiction genre and the community of science fiction readers, was examined. The main theoretical framework used for the analysis was Yvonne Hirdman?s gender theory, Judith Butler?s concept of identity and Louise M.

The aim of this paper was to study how Instagram forms a space for the creation and development of religious and spiritual beliefs. For this purpose, Instagram updates from five women with yoga oriented Instagram accounts have been analyzed in relation to two theories: Paul Heelas? och Linda Woodhead?s theory of a spiritual revolution and Heidi Campbell?s theory of networked religion.The aim of the study was to explore how these women presented themselves in their Instagram flow and what part religion and spirituality had in their presentations.

During spring 2005 I, Hanna Brogård, undertook my bachelor degree project in furniture design. The trend is based on the escape from reality to dreams of foreign countries, past centuries and nature.
