Studieobjektet för detta kandidatarbete är Stortorget vilket är beläget mitt på Trossö i centrala Karlskrona. Staden är sedan 1600-talet starkt färgad av en omfattande militär aktivitet, något som påverkat stadsbilden påtagligt. Detta är en grundfaktor som gjort att Karlskrona sedan 1988 finns upptagen på UNESCO:s världsarvslista. Huvudsyftet för detta kandidatarbetets är att ge ett gestaltningsförslag för Stortorget utifrån platsens roll som offentligt rum i staden. Avgränsningen sträcker sig till att omfatta Stortorget med dess närmaste omnejd, dock sätts Stortorget in i en vidare kontext som utgörs av hela Trossö för att ge en bild av torgets relation till den övriga centrala staden. Gestaltningsförslaget i detta kandidatarbete utgår från renässansens syn på form, individ och stadsrum. Några av de teorier som använts för att underbygga denna strävan är Vitruvius tankar om form och proportion, Camillo Sittes stadsrumsteorier och Gordon Cullens Serial Vision för att nämna några.

Flertalet kommuner har arbetat fram grönstrukturplaner för att se över grönområdenas bevarande och utvecklingsmöjligheter. Grönstrukturplanen fungerar även som ett planeringsunderlag för att hantera förfrågningar om exploatering på grönområden. Färjestaden är en attraktiv ort i Mörbylånga kommun där inflyttningen ökar stadigt. Behovet av nya bostadsområden är stort. Mörbylånga kommun ser gärna en förtätning i Färjestadens centrala delar samtidigt som ett behov av att bevara grönområden aktualiseras i pågående planprocesser. Kommunen har idag flera pågående planprojekt som tar grönområden i centrala delarna av Färjestaden i anspråk, men saknar samtidigt en grönstrukturplan för Färjestaden. Ett grönområde kan värderas på flera olika sätt.

For one month during the beginning of 2011, the world followed the violent events in Libya. During this time the United Nations was faced with a complex question, could they handle the ongoing violence and find a solution to the killings or would the hostile situation go on. We now know what happened, but not why. It is this question that this essay aims to answer. This essay covers the discussion of sovereignty on the one hand and humanitarian intervention on the other and responsibility to protect in between.

Kandidatarbetet är utfört inom kursen Att gestalta Offentliga Rum. Syftet med projektet har varit att bidra till en djupare förståelse för begreppen offentlighet och offentliga rum samt att ta fram och presentera ett förslag som kan förväntas förstärka Stortorgets funktion som ett offentligt rum i Karlskrona. Gemensamt för olika teoretikers definition av begreppet offentlighet är att det består av två delar. För att ett stadsrum ska kunna kallas för offentligt ska det vara allmänt ? det vill säga öppet och tillgängligt för alla ? samt gemensamt i motsats till privat.

Skälby park is situated approximately 2,5 km northwest of the central parts of Kalmar and is one of fi ve town part parks. Originally Skälby consisted of a village of four farms. In 1965 the municipality in Kalmar bought Skälby and the agriculture ceased to appear. The land was parcelled out into plots and new roads. Only the area surrounding the old buildings remained, turned to a park.

Friluftsplanen är ett frivilligt dokument som enbart beskriver friluftslivets intresse i kommunen. Detta för att dokumenten är frivillig och att det inte finns några bestämmelser om vad ett friluftsdokument ska innehålla. Detta arbete är en fallstudie som syftar till att undersöka om friluftsdokumenten innehåll. Friluftsplanen visade sig ofta vara del i annan plan eller program vilket innebar att arbetet breddades och kom att undersöka flera friluftsdokument med olika namn. Innehållet i friluftsdokumenten analyserades och jämfördes sinsemellan.

Due to an increased population in cities the need of densification of cities increases. This means that the amount of ecological elements in the city is at risk of decreasing. Ecological services contribute to the city?s climate by softening the negative impacts that densification of cities means. Thus increases the will and ambition in city planning in to preserve greenery.This is an interdisciplinary thesis within the subject of geography that studies Biotope Area Factor (BAF), a planning tool that is used in city planning with the purpose of compensating for lost ecological services associated with new housing estate.

The vizualisation and creating of places is an essential part of physical planning. The notion of places as placeless, is likewise of importance for the creating of places. Some tendencies concerning architecture like modernism, as well as constructions whome don´t fit in their landscape, have contributed to the benaming and experience of places as placeless. Phenomenon as globalization and post-industrialism have in some cases conduced to the withering of the sense of place. With starting-point in litteraturestudies, observations of places and interviews, this is a lucubration concerning the means of placelessness in physical planning.

Grönstruktur och parker har betydelse för livsmiljön i en stad. Urbana trädgårdar och informell påverkan på grönstrukturen är en allt mer vanlig syn i städer. Ofta tar dessa verksamheter mark i anspråk utan att ägandeskap föreligger men rätten till marken kan med tiden förändras. Uppsatsen undersöker vilka motiv som ligger bakom initiativ till urbana trädgårdar genom fyra fallstudier i Berlin. Intervjuer med initiativtagare och deltagare undersöker om de urbana trädgårdarna är mötesplatser, hur de upplevs påverka sin omgivning och varför informanterna väljer att tillbringa tid i trädgårdarna.

We travel more nowadays. The increasing travel rate generates greenhouse gases which in the long run cause an increasing number of natural disasters over the world. Car traffic is a major contributor to this development. Out-of-town shopping centres have historically good accessibility for car traffic. This study aims to look into what are the factors that influence the choice of transport mode for dwellers in the outskirts of a town when going to out-of-town shopping centres.

Bakgrunden till denna uppsats grundas i ett egenintresse i förvandlingen av stationshuset i Vara. Sedan jag genom mina föräldrar som bor kvar i orten, på tidig vår 2010 fick reda på att huset skulle bli korallrött har detta numer blåa konstverk retat mig. Detta kandidatarbete har gett mig möjligheten att på ett vetenskaplig sätt utröna bakomliggande orsaker till stationshusets förvandling till det Vara kallar, Sveriges största konstverk. Syftet med denna uppsats är att utreda hur den estetiskt tilltalande utformningen av byggnader vilka klassas som konstverk bör regleras enligt Plan- och Bygglagen och vilken roll kulturell planering spelar i den estetiskt tilltalande utformningen av den offentliga miljön. Genom två olika typer av fallstudier har tre olika konstverksprojekt studerats och analyserats utifrån inventeringar, observationer, intervjuer och innehållsanalys om bland annat begreppen byggnad, estetik och konstverk. Problematiken i lagtextens definition av vad som är estetiskt tilltalande beror mestadels på att det är ett mycket svårdefinierat begrepp till skillnad från vad en byggnad och ett konstverk är.

Hotel and restaurant industry have always been seen as an industry with low status and poorworking conditions. Low wages, temporary contracts, illegal work, and sexual harassment are the rule rather than the exception when the employee?s working conditions discusses. By using the right dogmatic approach together with a social science perspective the purpose of the study has been answered. The purpose has been to contribute to a greater understanding of how it is that the hotel and restaurant industry?s poor working conditions can be maintained, the extent to which the working conditions of the employees is ensured and why mostly young people, women and people with foreign backgrounds are employed in the industry.

Singapore is a country which is higly-developt in both the socie-economic and economic field. Dispate this Singapore has not yet achieved to become a democratic state. The purpose of this essay is to study how the civil society can affect democracy in a country.

In contemporary Sweden political participation among foreign-born Swedes is viewed as low and it is well known that foreign-born individuals do not use their voting rights to the same extent as the general population. At the same time there are numerous ethnic associations around the country who work with various activities involving political, democratic and integration issues. This study aims to study how four members of a Somali association regard, relate to and work with politics, democracy and integration. The study is based on these four people, but also on their relationship with authorities and other agencies in the community. The conclusion of this study shows in brief that the desire to participate politically is great, but that democracy and politics is accessible to all, depending on the level of language skills and what political knowledge the individual has.

The number of new estate agent offices is increasing yearly and each year many hundred new estate agents graduate. The comparing of estate agents by sellers has perhaps been most common in larger cities, but as competition has increased even in smaller towns we experience that it has become a common phenomenon even there. We both come from a small town but are not afraid of the idea of moving to a larger city as newly qualified estate agents. We ask ourselves, which are the determining factors in the choice of a estate agent in a large city as opposed to a small town? Can we see any differences? The purpose with this essay is to give us added knowledge about which factors private persons consider to be important in their choice of an estate agent when selling a house.The body of information is based on two parallel surveys, one in Hudiksvall and one in Stockholm, together with interviews of people in this line of business.
