This paper examines how to use different kinds of source material for building surveys. The studyexamines how to use legends, construction archaeological surveys and Ground Penetrating Radar(GPR) as source material, and use them against each other to ensure the reliability they have.As a starting point I used Gräfsnäs castle ruin in Alingsås, Sweden, as an example. Gräfsnäs castlewas probably built in the Middle Ages and was rebuilt through the ages until it became a ruin in thelate 1800s. The castle ruin is today Alingsås most visited attraction.The investigation has focused on three areas which are located in the very ruin; rescue tunnels, thecellar vault and the treasure.There are legends that describe how the castle lord of Gräfsnäs fled an attack of the Danes in 1612 ina rescue tunnel which ended at the beach. At the construction archaeological surveys carried out in1935-36 they found a sewer in the courtyard that was once served as rescue tunnel and ended in themoat.

Recently, there have been intense discussions about the humanities and their role in society. Internationally, as well as in a Swedish context, the humanities have been regarded to be in a state of crisis. However, these discussions usually demonstrate a lack of historical perspectives based on thorough empirical research. The notion of a crisis needs to be historicized.In this study, a case is being examined where the relationship between science and society was renegotiated. In the context of World War II, a discourse has been identified in a borderland between science and politics through an analysis of Swedish journals and anthologies during the time period 1937-1947.

This essay in Art History treats the former Central Post Office in Gothenburg, Sweden, and its recent transformation into a luxury hotel. The magnificent original building in neo-classical style, inaugurated in 1925, has been supplemented by a twelve stories high Tower in postmodern style containing hotel rooms and suites, creating a complex architecture. The approach of this essay is that of ?lived architecture?, that is, how people experience and act in relation to the building. It is argued that the history of the building is rewritten in the marketing of the hotel and the management?s concept of creating a comfortable ?mini-world?for its guests.

This master thesis is one part of a project, called ?StabSim?, with the purpose to develop a simulation model for the align and stabilisation system in main battle tank 122. The origin of this project is that it should be possible to make control analysis without risking any hardware. Besides that it will be easy to change components in order to investigate the behaviour of the system. The report includes modelling of Tower and weapon mechanics and also the modelling of the synchronous motors, which control these.

Saab har utvecklat en produkt, Remote Tower, som tillåter flygledningen att fjärrstyra en flygplats, det vill säga att övervaka och kontrollera en flygplats på distans. Ett viktigt verktyg för flygledarna är VCS, Voice Communication System, som är Saabs egna röstkommunikationssystem, där både radio- och telefonkommunikation ingår. VCS används för att kommunicera med piloter och markpersonal på flygplatsen. Målet är att i framtiden kunna fjärrstyra fler flygplatser samtidigt, och då finns ett behov att visualisera de inkommande samtalen från de olika flygplatserna i realtid. Detta för att undvika ett scenario där flygledaren missar ett samtal.

Vår uppsats syftar till att skapa en bild av hur sociala medier påverkar en turistupplevelse. Teknologi är idag ett fenomen som har integrerats i det vardagliga livet och har även blivit en del av dagens resande. Sociala medier utgör en stor del av dagens teknologiska användande och används idag frekvent av många människor under en turistupplevelse. Vi anser att sociala mediers alltmer inflytelserika roll i människors resande skapar en möjlighet för oss att studera detta relativt outforskade område. Genom en empirisk utgångspunkt i form av djupgående intervjuer har vi skapat en tydlig uppfattning av hur sociala medier påverkar en turistupplevelse.

The purpose of this project was to produce signal relay stations that could receive information via 2.4 GHz radio and relay the information to a designated target station. If a relay station was located outside of signal range for the target station it was supposed to utilize other relay stations to transfer the information to the target station, so called multi-hop.The would-be application of the relay stations was orienteering. When an orienteer punches a checkpoint the signal stations would relay information of who punched the control, when it was punched and the checkpoint that was punched to the speaker Tower in the goal area.The work resulted in prototypes which fulfilled the statement of purpose and was tested at an orienteering competition with satisfactory results. The performance of the prototypes was tested and found adequate for the would-be application..

At Rottneros pulp mill mechanical pulp is bleached with hydrogen peroxide. The changes of bleaching chemicals that are used for different grades are taken from bleaching tables; however these tables are old and need to be updated. The purpose of this thesis was to be the basis of new documentation.In this thesis three pulps where studied with the aim to find the optimal bleaching chemical changes (total NaOH/VP-quote) for each pulp. The pulps were taken from the filter before the bleaching Tower and the pulps were bleached in the lab. The most important pulp property in this study was the brightness and how that was influenced by the chemical dosages.

At the time being there is limited experience within turbine decommissioning in Sweden and the economic effects are unknown. Despite this, there are expectations that revenues generated by sales of materials will cover decommissioning costs. The model developed identifies thirteen parameters that vary between different types of turbines and that affect the economic consequences of decommissioning. The three most important parameters are turbine location, Tower material, and the scope of decommissioning. Trends in the wind energy industry show that these three factors are developing in a manner that increases decommissioning costs dramatically.

Sweden is a country that has made some progress in developing energy efficient solutions. The problem in Sweden is that many houses and apartment buildings are old and have inefficient ventilation- and heating systems. This energy is lost when systems are inefficient, which then results in huge economic costs. Luckily, more and more people are becoming aware of this, which means that Sweden is on track to become even better within energy efficiency.Energy use for the housing- and service sector amounts to 166 TWh of total use at 616 TWh. Without distribution and conversion losses, these figures show that the housing- and service sector accounts for almost 40 % of the country's total energy consumption.

Användandet av betong som ersättare för stål vid produktionen av vindkraftverkstorn har ökat den senaste tiden. Betongtorn är betydligt billigare än ståltorn men problem som sprickbildningar, frostsprängningar och följaktligen armeringskorrosion har uppstått bl a på grund av vibrationer från rotorn. I fundamentet i vindkraftverk kan ovan nämnda problem också uppstå och det uppfyller således inte alltid funktionskraven. Det här examensarbetet undersöker möjligheten att eliminera dessa problem genom att använda en sorts högpresterande betong kallad UHPC 2.2 med syntetfiberarmeringen, STRUX. Jämförelser mellan tidigare empiri om högpresterande betong och laborativa tester på UHPC 2.2 visar att den senare är beständigare och ger möjligheter till en större sprickfrihet.

The fishing port of Bläsinge is located on the east coast of Öland, Sweden?s second largest island. Today the port has a limited supply of freshwater. The economic association of the fishing port wants to expand their business, so that they will also include tourist services. To do this the harbor will need a more independant source of freshwater, with a higher quality than the present well.

Saab har utvecklat en produkt, Remote Tower, vars syfte är att fjärrstyra en flygplats. Fjärrstyrning innebär övervakning och styrning av flygplatsen från en annan plats än flygledningstornet. På den flygplats som ska övervakas har kameror monterats på ett sätt så att en 360-graders vy ges och bilden från dessa skickas till den plats varifrån man styr flygplatsen. När en ominstallation av en eller flera kameror görs så behövs det i dagsläget två installatörer. Dessa kan behöva arbeta på olika orter då serverdatorn inte behöver vara placerad i närheten av flygplatsen i sig.

Den här C-uppsatsen är en studie om dyslektikers kommunikativa interaktion med kompenserande specialgjorda datorprogram för träning i sitt användande av att skriva olika sorters texter. Ämnets olika nyckelord är det som är relevant för denna C-uppsats. Denna studies undersökningar har skett genom intervjuer med en speciallärare och en specialpedagog som är en form av experter på detta område och kan extra fakta om de olika eleverna (respondenterna). De har intervjuats för att få koll på vad de tycker och anser om specialgjorda datorprogram som jag undersökt. De har även fått svara på en enkät med liknande frågor som i intervjuerna. En annan metod som används för denna C-uppsats är en sorts semiotisk kvalitativ innehållsanalys för att påvisa hur de specialgjorda datorprogrammen ser ut. När det gäller en sorts avläsning till resultatet har den skett med en avläsning av Shannon & Weavers kommunikationsmodell fast till en egen modell samt via en kvalitativ analys som beskriver de specialgjorda datorprogrammens uppbyggnad. Den främsta slutsatsen som fram kom är att denna C-uppsats kommit fram användarnas/elevers och speciallärares och attityder och tankar kring sitt användande av dessa specialgjorda datorprogram som är Oribi Spellright och Vital, via den egna omgjorda Shannon & Weaver modellen. Denna C-uppsats är relevant inom det medie- och kommunikationsvetenskapliga området för den använder sig av Shannon & Weavers kommunikationsmodell samt en form av ett interaktionsmoment mellan människa och dator..
