Justifying high price with Total Cost of Ownership awerness - possible or not on the Asian market?
Purpose: The aim with the report is to investigate if the South East Asian customer on the food processing market base their investments on Total cost of Ownership and if so, which are the cost drivers considered most vital. Moreover, do these cost-drivers diverge from the perception FP Ltd has, and if so, can a Total cost of Ownership-model help to achieve a mutual understanding? Methodology: First a descriptive approach will be taken, identifying FP Ltd?s employers? perception on how to meet the customer. This will later be compared to our empirical findings of the actual customer behaviour in Thailand and Vietnam. Thorough analyse of the gap between the two parts will give us the outcome whether or not FP Ltd will have any use of presenting a quantitative model justifying their higher price.
Förpackningslogistik på Haldex Traction Systems AB
the most obvious problem at Traction today is the in-between handling that demands much time and resources. The reason is that the packages are not designed with handling in mind. Several of the packages of today also have a poor degree of utilization that means there is room for a fewer number of articles. That in turn means more packages, more transports, more storage space and more staff. On the basis of a specification of demands ? which take quality and environmental influence, as well as transport, handling and economy in account ? we have developed suggestions on new packages that will facilitate handling and lower the Total costs, The time of handling will in some cases abbreviate to just a few seconds with the new packages.

Purpose ? The purpose of this thesis is to develop a Total cost model for container transports and create a tool that calculates a suitable transport quantity from an economic view, which fulfills the demands on delivery service. To achieve this purpose the following questions will be answered:Which costs are affected by the decision between the two transport alternatives LCL and FCL? How does the decision of sending product LCL or FCL influence the delivery service? How can a tool be constructed to simplify the decision-making process regarding the choice of sending products LCL or FCL? Method ? A Total cost model was developed. This model is supported from existing literature.

Total Cost of Ownership -Revealing the true cost of owning and operating equipment
Abstract Title: Total cost of Ownership ? Revealing the true cost of owning and operating equipment. Nilsson, Department of Industrial Management and Logistics, LTH, Lund UniversityCarl-Henric Nilsson, Department of Business Administration, Lund University Core issue: ?Which costs should be included in a general Total cost of Ownership model regarding centrifuges, and what input variables are needed in order to calculate those costs in a user-friendly way and with a maintained level of accuracy?? Purpose: The theoretical purpose of the thesis is to identify the cost items that have the greatest impact on a TCO calculation for a centrifuge.
Torkad eller gastät lagrad spannmål till värphöns : en fallstudie
The purpose with this study is to compare different systems of grain storage from a
financial point of view. Grain that is supposed to be fed to laying hens.
The systems that were compared were different airtight storage of grain and a system of
conventional storage.
To make this case study I choose to compare four different systems. In the case study
there was one system with bin drying of the grain, two systems with airtight storage of
the grain and one system where you buy dried grain during the season.
I made several of capital investment appraisal where I found the cost of each system,
then I took the cost and divided it with the total grain use and calculated the cost for
each kilogram of grain, and also the cost of the feed.
Then I compared the cost from my case study with the cost of buying feed.
All the systems except for one, gave a lower cost for the hen feed than buying feed from
a dealer The best system, witch were bin drying lower the cost with about 80 000:- SEK.

Buildings worldwide account for 40 % of the total energy use. Climate change is of increasing importance, but few are willing to reduce their standard of living or get a higher cost for the change. Energy efficiency of existing buildings gives the greatest benefit economically and environmentally. The real estate company Klövern AB manages 46 properties in Karlstad. Heating is the major cost of the total operating costs of real estate. Rising energy prices increase the need for Klövern AB to improve energy efficiency and to investigate alternative sources of heat.
Kostnadsallokering genom ABC-kalkylering – en empirisk studie av OMX
As IT service departments in organisations are becoming more complex and customised, the indirect costs are increasing in relation to the Total costs. The difficulty of fully estimating and identifying the spread of the cost in the IT service department is increasing. As a result, firms tend to budget the business unit as a Total cost rather than as a spread of defined costs. In order to deal with this challenge an ABC calculation will be applied. The Time Driven ABC model will be conducted in OMX´s Servicedesk unit within the IT services.
Total Cost of Ownership - en papperstiger: En studie av svenska industriföretags beslutsunderlag inför sourcing
Evaluating and choosing suppliers based on price alone, has traditionally been the dominant strategy for supplier selection within the purchasing function. With the origin of the Total cost of Ownership (TCO)-concept in the early 1990s, a new philosophy dawned that promoted the importance of knowing the effects of supplier performance on the buying firm?s internal costs. Since then, scholars have been arguing the case of TCO as a viable model for making purchasing decisions and conducting supplier evaluation. Still, after two decades little is known about its penetration and impact on the practices of buying corporations, leaving the questions of which costs are included in the purchasing organisations? decisions unanswered, and even more importantly why certain costs are considered and others not.

Är plöjningsfri jordbearbetning bättre än konventionell plöjning? :
The background of this study is the fact that it nowadays is more common to grow wheat after wheat. Usually we plow every autumn to remove the straw, and we wanted to study the effect of alternative methods to do it. We have done this experiment to answer the question if no tillage is better than conventional plowing. The results of the field experiment indicate that there is a link between plant establishment and the choice of equipment, but also a higher weed pressure in experimental plots with only ground tillage. The equipments which left much straw on the top of the ground the problems with fungi were more severe.
Effektiv partiformning : analys och tillämpning på Uppåkra Mekaniska AB
This paper is the result of a case study conducted at Uppåkra Mekaniska AB during the spring of 2006. The task that was presented by Uppåkra was to develop a basis for a decision for the planning activities at the company, so that in the future they can create lot-sizes which are based upon a Total cost perspective. Total cost in regards to lot-sizing is defined as the sum of the administrative reordering costs and warehousing cost per stock keeping unit.To collect data a series of interviews and observations were conducted. This data was then used during the lot-sizing simulation and analysis. The 15 units that the simulation was conducted on were grouped into three item classes depending how many different machine setups they required during the production process.
The Cost Saving Potential of Standardization, -a study at a global packaging company
To introduce a standardized component assortment takes a lot of effort in order to make real cost savings. The rationalization effect itself is important, but perhaps even more important is to state the aim of the standardization efforts in a well-defined way. How can an organization assure that they are working in a proper way? How do they know that their efforts are being interpreted into the whole organization? And, how do they know that the standardization efforts actually save money? Different components differ heavily e.g. in technical complexity and quality issues.
Underhållskostnader för tröskor :
Costs of maintenance on combines are a subject of interest thus it constitute a large
investment and cost for the individual farmer. Therefore it is important to have up to
date knowledge and the right facts to be able to do reliable calculations on one of the
largest investments for a farmer.
The aim of this study was to compare costs of maintenance on combine/threshingmachine
with the computer program for advising environmental issues in agriculture,
STANK. Interviews took place and data were collected by handing out questionnaires to
20 farmers. A similar study conducted by Neuman (2003) investigated costs of
maintenance and compared these with STANK. The results of this study have also been
compared and examined related to data from SLA - Skogs och
Lantarbetsgivarförbundet.
The result shows that 18 out of 20 combines were given a higher cost of maintenance
when using STANK compared to the numbers in this study.
