African elephants (Loxodonta Africana) are kept all over the world in different kinds of enclosures. The enclosures are however often unsuitable for the elephants. Research has shown that elephants are nocturnal animals. Therefore it is important to keep elephants occupied, for instance by using enrichments, also at the night. Five elephants were studied at Borås djurpark, four elephants in one room and one elephant, named Nyoka, in one room.

In Sweden, the most common way to castrate a bitch is by midline approach. In this study, flank and midline approaches are compared in order to evaluate incision by the flank as an alternative technique for ovariohysterectomy in the bitch. The study was performed on straydogs in the central part of Thailand under field conditions. 32 bitches were included in the study. The castration technique was by flank and midline approach, alternating with every other bitch.

Studien bygger på Implicit Leadership Theory, tidigare studiers noterade ledaregenskaper samt egenskaper noterade i denna studie värderade från ett medarbetarperspektiv. Implicit Leadership Theory bygger på hur ledarskap konstrueras av medarbetaren. Deltagare var åtta medarbetare varav tre män. Kvalitativa intervjuer utfördes. Syftet konkretiserades utav önskvärda ledaregenskaper, studiens gemensamma egenskaper och egenskaper överrensstämmande med tidigare studier samt teori. De upplevda egenskaperna delades upp i kategorier som beskrev de önskvärda egenskaperna.

Begreppet BIM (Byggnadsinformationsmodellering) har kommit långt inom husbyggnadssektorn och installationsbranschen medan anläggningsbranschen har legat efter i utvecklingen. Idag är anläggningsbranschen i stort behov av effektivisering och erfarenhet inom området BIM. Bristfällig kompetens och dålig information utgör några risker som behöver lösas för att få fart på utvecklingen.Detta examensarbete är utfört åt Trafikverket i Stockholm och genomfördes som en intervjustudie med totalt 12 olika ansvariga från både interna och externa företag. Varje person som intervjuades hade en koppling till de anläggningsprojekt vi fått som uppgift att kartlägga. Syftet med examensarbetet är att kartlägga vilka BIM-relaterade arbetsmetoder som redan används inom Trafikverket och hur de tillämpas med avseende på risker och projektering.

VBG Produkter AB is a process-orientated company that develops, manufactures and markets trailer couplings with belonging coupling equipment, protection equipment against skidding and stands for wagon-bridge for heavy vehicles. The company feels that their set-up time in production for couplings is not at an acceptable level. Due to high demands of customer oriented production the intermediate stock level of included products within the assembly of couplings has gradually increased which has resulted in high inventory holding costs. VBG Produkter applies Kanban in their production, therefore it is important to produce exactly the necessary amount and avoid overproduction. The objective of this project is to suggest appropriate solutions so that VBG Produkter is able to reduce their set-up time in assembly of couplings, by identifying internal and external set-up time for the chosen process bushing cell.

This essay is a time-geographic study of workinglife mobilities and investigates two days of work for five respondents. One from home and the other from the persons workingplace. Qualitative and quantitative methods has been applied to illustrate and analyze the two days along with time-geographic constraints. The findings are concluded into themes which represent the two local pockets of order: Home and Workplace. Themes of home are: Comfort station, Household, Curtained-off, Tele-contact and Environment.

Uppdragsgivaren, Erik Larssons Byggnads AB, utför skadereglering på uppdrag av flera olika försäkringsbolag i Tranemo, Svenljunga och Ulricehamn kommun. Året 2008 var företaget involverat i sammanlagt 104 försäkringsskador.Den ersättning som tillfaller Erik Larssons Byggnads AB grundar sig i det närmaste uteslutande på de kostnader kalkyleringsprogrammen MEPS och WinBygg 2000 beräknat.Examensarbetet är en studie om användandet av de olika kalkylprogrammen i kombination med respektive avtal haft betydelse för lönsamheten vid skadereglering. Skillnader mellan programmens kalkyler samt hur dessa överensstämmer med verkligt utfall undersöks. Brister i nuvarande arbetssätt kartläggs och förbättringar föreslås.Målet är att resultat och slutsatser skall kunna vara en hjälp vid framtida kalkylering och upphandling av skadeuppdrag - att lönsamheten på så sätt kan förbättras för Erik Larssons Byggnads AB.En fullständig inventering av företagets skadekalkyler genomfördes. The genus Campylobacter is globally recognised as the leading bacterial cause of human foodborne gastroenteritis. Every year around 8000 Swedes are infected by Campylobacter. Most people are infected by thermotolerant Campylobacter species, commonly C. jejuni and C. coli.

In the model three different time periods have been investigated to facilitate the origin of different patterns.

A considerable number young of students are suffering from sociopsychological complaints. The psychological complaints emerge from differnt sources. Important factors for psychological well being are experiences of a satisfactory social network, efficient coping strategies and a supportive school climate.The aim of this study was to examine how young girls in the age of 16-18 years old experience and cope with demands from school. To fulfill the aim of this study we have five questions: What do the girls apprehend as a satisfactory/unsatisfactory working environment? How do the girls define stress? How do the girls cope with stress? What importance has leisure time? What importance has the social network? The method we used for this study was qualitative and the material was collected through four focus groups.

This study where designed to investigate if there are any positive relationship between the extent of physical activity during adolescent's leisure time and the academic performance, and also if there are any negative relationship between the academic performance and the time spent in front of the television or computers. Another part of the study tried to find out if physical activity has a direct and immediate influence on the performance in school. 91 pupils (51 girls and 40 boys) in the 8:th year of the Swedish primary school, from three different schools participated in the study. All 91 pupils first responded to a questionnaire concerning there activities in leisure time. They where then tested in a mathematical test and the results where compared with the extent of physical activity and TV/computer time they had stated in the questionnaire.

The purpose of this study is to examin the depiction of culturalmeetings in history books in relatioon to the schoolguidelines, and how and why the description may have changed over time. To achieve this, a qualitative method was used to analyze the content of cultural meetings in Swedish schoolbooks after the World War II. The material used in the study was taken from eight editions of Alla tiders historia published between 1985-2011. The material was then put together and analyzed from the theoretical perspectives, which try to explain the factors that influenced the depiction of the texts.The results of this study shows, that over time, the school guidelines have incresed their focus on human value and the need for students to interact with people from other cultures. The depictions in the history books lives upp to the demands of the school guidelines, but this study shows that the main influence of the content of the book is the social context.
