Abstract   The actions of Sweden during the second world war has been richly discussed over the years. Sweden declared itself neutral in the war between the great powers but did not manage to maintain its neutrality. The nature of neutrality has often been discussed; whether it is of a idealistic or more pragmatic nature. Realism, a theory of international relations, would argue that it is of a more pragmatic nature, hence these two are in opposition. Realism also takes credit in claiming to explain how and why a state chooses to act in a situation. The aim of this essay was to, by examining specific decisions made by the swedish government during the Second World War, come to a conclusion whether or not Sweden?s proclaimed neutrality was of idealistic or pragmatic nature, and thereby possibly coming to a conclusion about neutrality in large.It was also to examine the worth of realism as an explanatory theory by applying it to this specific case; to examine its validity.The study was conducted using a qualitative method; presenting empiric facts and then by using a decision model interpreting the actions and results from a realist perspective. The study concludes that realism has explanatory power, although not a complete one.

This thesis is based on two different parts. First a presentation and a brief insight of the most comprehensive picture educational structures/theories and their various branches in Sweden from the post war period. Secondly a presentation of my artistic masters project Fantasy World, where I together with a group of children aged 7-12 freely created an artwork in the form of a world of its own, in sculptural expression. The idea behind the thesis has been to study how the perception of picture education and children?s creation has been in the recent decades and how different picture educational theories looks like and then to compare with the idea behind my project and how it may look in practice..

This thesis discusses South Scandinavian cup marks in general, and cup marks in Kronobergs County in particular. The question is whether the cup mark phenomena can be viewed as an ordinary family-based cult for a kind of everyday use, or more likely as a community passage ritual. The thesis also suggests that cup marks were made by ritual participants in, or in the process of trying to reach, an altered state of consciousness..

The recent turbulence in the financial markets has contributed to the banks becoming more restrictive to lend to real estate financing. Deleveraging in Europe's banking sector has also contributed to banks reducing their leverage and increasing capital adequacy to meet the new requirements. The ?civilized? world is in need of fossil fuel in order to function. Hybricon AB is a company in Umeå that is developing a technology that hopefully can reduce parts of this need. They are currently testing their two electrical busses (with Hybrid backup) in city traffic on the roads of Umeå in cooperation with the county of Umeå.                               The busses are originally diesel-busses, but the diesel motor has been replaced with two electrical hub-motors with a power of 145 kW each that are powered by batteries.The batteries are charged at the end station after each route. In case the batteries should run low on capacity during driving, they can be recharged by the so called genset.

In the prison of Kumla, Sweden`s highest security classified institution, spiritual retreats are pursued since 2001. The aim is to offer the inmates a possibility to enter deeply into spiritual contemplation. This spiritual contemplation is made possible through the fact that the prisoners carry out a retreat designed after guidelines written by Ignatius of Loyola in his Spiritual Exercises. The purpose of this examination is to study how ordinary institutional life in comparison to monastic life defines and creates different attitudes and roles amongst the inmates. A secondary aim is to describe the consequences of the retreat on individual basis.

The alpaca is a camelid that originate from the South American highland. During recent years it?s been possible to keep alpacas in other parts of the world. Today there is a world-wide interest in alpacas, but there is still limited knowledge about this fascinating animal. There are approximately 350-400 alpacas in Sweden in 2007.

This study aims to highlight the activities and needs of students in order to explain how mobile services can provide support and facilitate students on a daily basis. The empirical data is based on discussions with a focus group combined with already existing research concerning the areas of mobile service development, contextual-awareness and ubiquitous computing. The results from the focus group show that students have a need for mobile services to help and support them in their ordinary tasks and activities. Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka hur möjligheter till flerstämmigt lärande såg ut i ett dataunderstött samarbetsprojekt World of Warcraft i årskurs 6. Frågan angrips med hjälp av metodtriangulering, vars huvuddel består av två lektionsobservationer, vilka förstärks med lärarintervjuer samt elevernas utvärderingar. Jag konkretiserar kartläggningen med produktioner som eleverna gjorde under projektets gång. Som en övergripande teoretisk ram för undersökningen används det sociokulturella perspektivet där relevanta aspekter belyses mer ingående ? flerstämmighet, livsvärldar, lärarens roll och lärande tillsammans.

This project practise methods used in the interaction design discipline to develop a concept related to the Swedish Guinness World Records Magazine. This project is a challenge to accommodate both the users? and client?s needs. We focus on interaction and the experience, which is acquired through the use itself, and how to connect it to a theme from a client. The aim of this project is to create a meeting place for children where they can interact with technology.

Det här arbetet behandlar frågan huruvida man kan använda etablerade studier av spelartyper och spelarbeteende av främst Bartle och Bateman, för att på ett praktiskt sätt hjälpa spelare att optimera sin spelupplevelse. Målet har varit att ta fram en metod för att hjälpa spelare att hitta den roll i onlinerollspelet World of Warcraft som passar spelarens spelartyp allra bäst och som denne har störst chans att uppskatta spelupplevelsen mest igenom.Detta har gjorts genom ett personlighetstest innehållande 21 frågor baserade på forskning av spelartyper och spelarbeteende. Utifrån testtagarens svar bedöms dennes spelartyp och den klass i World of Warcraft som bäst bedöms passa spelarens preferenser föreslås. Personlighetstestet har testats av en 15 personer stor testgrupp och resultaten visade på ett övervägande positivt mottagande och merparten var nöjda med den föreslagna klassen och tyckte spelartypsbeskrivningen passade dem.Utifrån resultaten av undersökningen dras slutsatser kring att det finns ett stort intresse för en personlighetstest av den typen, och att det har en stor potential att hjälpa både spelare att hitta sin roll i spelvärlden och för spelutvecklare att se vad som lockar i sin spelvärld och vilka spelartyper som de kanske bör satsa mer på att locka om de vill utvidga sin spelarbas..

Business valuation is something that has been more general and discussion around this subject is very common. The discussions often revolve the various principles and procedures that a business appraiser can apply when a valuation of a business should be done. When there are different evaluation methods there are also resulting in an assumption that there are not so easy to create a complete objective business value. The individual evaluator choice of method will determine the result of the business value. The global world for each business has been more uncertain and turbulent/changeable which have tended to exacerbate the work for the evaluator to determine a business value.
