I have always been told that form follows function. But does it have to be that way? I decided to see it  from another angle.Kinesics is a term form non verbal komunication. In my thesis project I have been working with body language in furniture.  I believe that furniture, just like us, has an expression and a character. We often tend to desccribe furniture with the same words as we describe people, for example: "A relaxed chair" or "a cocky table".

Bakgrund Att inducera en förlossning innebär att försöka manipulera igång ett förlossningsarbete i syfte att åstadkomma en vaginal förlossning. Nyttan med induktionen måste alltid överväga riskerna för förlossningskomplikationer. Riksgenomsnittet för inducerade förlossningar var år 2007, 13,2 %. Syfte Kartlägga inducerade förlossningar på en förlossningsklinik i södra Sverige under året 2009. Kartläggningen inbegrep induktionsindikation, använda induktionsmetoder samt förlossningsförlopp och utfall.

The aim of this essay is to create an understanding, of how teachers comprehend knowledge, grades and tests in a school context. It is important to get a grip of the different parts of the teacher?s reality. The test, the grades and knowledge are deeply connected as a part of a whole. The teachers view on knowledge can not be understood without asking about the practical parts of their work and understand how the different parts are dependent on each other.The main material consists of interviews with four teachers that work in a public mandatory school in the south suburbs of Stockholm.

I detta examensarbete har vi granskat Skellefte-Tekniken, som är en arbetsmetod inom NO-Teknik (åk1-6). Konceptet bygger på elevaktiva praktiska uppgifter inom NO-Teknik, främst inom kemi, fysik och teknik. Syftet med detta examensarbete, var att undersöka om Skellefte-Tekniken som arbetsmodell, sett ur ett genusperspektiv, bidrar till att väcka elevernas intresse för naturvetenskapliga studier. Syftet var även att ta reda på om skillnader i förståelse förelåg mellan elever som arbetar enligt modellen och sådana som inte gör det. Undersökningen genomfördes i två klasser som arbetar med Skellefte-Teknik och två klasser som arbetar på annat sätt, samtliga i årskurs 6.

Introduktion: Artros är en av de vanligaste anledningarna till funktionsnedsättning hos äldre varav knäartros är en av dem. Prevalensen ökar med åldern, dock kan man även drabbas i medelåldern. Risken att drabbas i medelåldern ökar med predisponerande faktorer som ärftlighet, övervikt, muskelsvaghet och ledskada. Grundbehandlingen idag är träning, information och viktreduktion. Endast en bråkdel av alla artrospatienter träffar en sjukgymnast innan operation.

Mellan yta och form är ett examensarbete i smyckekonst, påkandidatnivå som undersöker vad en monoton bearbetning av metall kan resultera i. Jag har använt mig av en puns för att göra avtryck i tunt utvalsad plåt. Det bildas små gropar i metallen, sakta växer en nystruktur fram och den tunna plåten blir hård av bearbetningen.Jag har undersökt relationen mellan den enskilda pricken och den yttre formen på plåten, vad händer med ytan när jag går upp i storlek och inom vilken form ska denna yta befinna sig i? Hur förhåller sig den nya ytan till den gamla? Och hur blir ytan bärbar? Bland annat dessa frågor har varit underlag för mitt arbete, men under processens gång harmycket annat kommit till. Tankar och reflektioner kring mitt arbete, framförallt vad bearbetning av metall innebär för mig, upprepningens effekt på arbetet och min fascination för förvandlingen av materialet har varit framträdande..

Användandet av mobila enheter tillsammans med stationära datorer ökar ständigt. När användare interagerar med mobila enheter uppstår ofta problem som i första hand beror på de mobila enheternas små skärmar. Vid migrering av information visar forskning att det är av stor vikt att minska användarens börda att återskapa familjariteten som en gång upplevts med tidigare gränssnitt. Den här studien belyser problematiken med att migrera information mellan artefakter oberoende skärmstorlekar, samtidigt som familjariteten bibehålls. Uppsatsen är ett resultat av en kvalitativ studie som undersöker vilka olika designelement som påverkar familjaritet vid migrering av information.

The purpose of this thesis has been to assess whether leaching from one particular Swedishlandfill site, Skörbytippen, is contributing to elevated levels of heavy metals in a ditch runningfrom the landfill site to the lake Mälaren in the communal region of Håbo kommun. Since theditch is stretching approximately five km downstream from the landfill site, in situ observationsand maps with known points of inflow was utilized to determine appropriate test points for thecollection of samples.Soil, water and sediment samples were collected and analyzed for content of organic material, pHand conductivity. Data on plant-available elements and total amounts of heavy metals wasacquired through ICP-analysis.The results show that the Skörby landfill is currently in the methane-forming anaerobedevelopment phase, which indicates that the concentration of free and complex-bound metals inthe leachate water should be low due to chemical binding with other landfill compounds. The pHof the sediment samples was generally one unit higher than the soil samples and some of themeasured data, such as pH and conductivity, show that an environmentally disturbing dischargeof some kind of strongly alkaline chemical(s) has been made from Benders? takpanneindustri inclose proximity to the landfill.

The report presents a thesis carried out on behalf of the company SAAB Training and Simulation which is situated in Huskvarna. The authors of this report are going to graduate as mechanical engineers focusing on product development and design, and this thesis should reflect the knowledge obtained during the education. The assignment, given from the company was to develop a concept of a stand that will constitute as a part of a mobile system for target practice. The reader get to follow throughout the project and can hopefully learn from the smart solutions and approaches that have arisen during the process.Today SAAB doesn?t have a mobile application in their portfolio that utilizes the benefits of their sensor measuring system, also called the LOMAH-bar.

Hälsans Trädgård is a project which is going to start in Gamla Linköping, Sweden. The authors were commissioned by Arbetslivsresurs, a company working with work rehabilitation, to select, define and make job analyses on five work tasks at Hälsans Trädgård in Gamla Linköping. A job analysis means an analysis of the demands the job make of the individual. The job analysis used in this study is called The Revised Handbook for Analyzing Jobs (RHAJ) and is from the US Department of Labor (DOL). As RHAJ is an American instrument, the authors produced a form where the concepts are translated into Swedish to make the analysis easier.

Syftet med föreliggande studie är att undersöka om det finns ett samband mellan nominalfraskonstruktion och betygsnivå på Tisus. Studien genomförs på åtta texter hämtade från delen för skriftlig färdighet av Test i svenska för universitets- och högskolestudier (Tisus). Fyra av texterna är godkända och fyra underkända och det är okänt för mig vilka de godkända är under studiens gång. Performansanalys används som modell för att besvara frågorna som delats upp i en kvantitativ och en kvalitativ analysdel. Utifrån resultatet av de båda metod- och analysdelarna har jag bedömt vilka fyra som är de godkända.

Children with Reading and Writing Difficulties and Their Language and Cognitive AbilitiesA Comparison with Children with a Cochlear ImplantAbstractThe aim of this study was to examine the cognitive abilities that are important for reading in children with reading disabilities, children with a cochlear implantation and typically developed children. 64 children aged 10-12 years participated in the study. To answer the question at issue we used the following tests: Block Design from WISC III, PPVT III, TOWRE, SL 40 and a few chosen tests out of the SIPS battery. On tests of the lexical access children with reading disabilities performed at the same level as hearing children, while the children with a cochlear implant performed significantly lower. Test of the phonological and complex working memory showed that children with reading disabilities performed significantly higher than children with a cochlear implant, but at the same time lower than typically developed children on the test of phonological working memory.

There have been debates on the big differences in mathematics knowledge concerning pupils in Sweden and Finland. Especially, one common issue in the discussions of education is the Pisa test results, which take up in the media. In the Pisa research the Finnish pupils get through well year after year. Because of the discussions about the distinct school systems in Sweden and Finland, I found it interesting to investigate the divergence of the curriculums in these two countries. The main research questions asked were, what are the main differences and similarities in the Swedish and Finnish curriculums in primary school? Such as, is the assignment of primary school similar in Sweden and Finland?In my study I analyzed and compared by means of the curriculum especially mathe-matics teaching in primary schools in grade three in Sweden and in grade two Fin-land.

The ability to tackle NP-hard problems has been greatly extended by the introduction of Metaheuristics (see Blum & Roli (2003)) for a summary of most Metaheuristics, general problem-independent optimisation algorithms extending the hill-climbing local search approach to escape local minima. One of these algorithms is Iterated Local Search (ILS) (Lourenco et al., 2002; Stützle, 1999a, p. 25ff), a recent easy to implement but powerful algorithm with results comparable or superior to other state-of-the-art methods for many combinatorial optimisation problems, among them the Traveling Salesman (TSP) and Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP). ILS iteratively samples local minima by modifying the current local minimum and restartinga local search porcedure on this modified solution. This thesis will show how ILS can be implemented for MSA.
