The aim of this master thesis is to examine the opinions of the students of Linköping University regarding the role of the university library in their learning process. The study addresses the student?s expectations and satisfaction regarding the library services. The questions we seek to answer are: What are the students? conceptions of Linköping University Library as a part of their learning process? What expectations do the students have regarding Linköping University Library? Does the library fulfil the students? expectations? In what way has the library?s pedagogical ambition reached the students? What are the students? opinions about the user education? The study is based on a web survey complemented with interviews.

The purpose of this study is to examine to what extent the senior level Swedish school can be viewed as supporting, or counteracting, a colonial discourse that legitimizes global and national injustices. The study is executed through a discourse analysis of five textbooks in social science for senior level Swedish schools.Using elements from Foucault and Edward Said a theoretical framework is constructed, in which a colonial discourse is perceived as structured around four clusters of ideas, namely (i) the use of dichotomies, (ii) the concept of progress and civilization, (iii) the construction of -we- as synonymous with (ii), and (iv) the construction of -the others- as the opposite of (ii) and, therefore, the opposite of -us-.The results show that a colonial discourse is still highly present in the textbooks, in that the texts are structured around dichotomies such as tradition/modernity and democracy/dictatorship. Sweden and the Western world are perceived as closely associated with democracy, freedom, and modernity, whereas -the others- of the world are being associated with e.g. poverty, conflict, tradition, and ignorance. -The others- within Sweden, i.e.

Denna uppsats studerar hur krisen drabbat den svenska fondmarknaden och tillväxtmarknadsfonder ur perspektivet risk och avkastning. Detta är i denna studie belyst utifrån en svensk småsparares perspektiv.Problemlösning: Utifrån portföljteorin i form av Sharpekvoten och Modigliani-Modiglianis modell för riskjusterad avkastning har avkastning, till för de båda kategorierna gemensam risknivå, fastställts. Den placering med högst avkastning till likställd risk används som en indikator för val av placering.Slutsats: Skillnaden i avkastning givet gemensam risk är marginell under perioden och anses inte vara tillräckligt hög för att användas som indikator, gällande placeringsalternativen emellan, för en svensk småsparare..

This report describes the work with creating a CMS (Content Manager System). A CMS is a web tool so you easy can publish materials on your web page. With a CM Scan you can without any knowledge of programming web pages create and maintain a web page. This will result in that you and your organisation save time and money. You can also split the responsibility for the webpage in different roles, but still keep the control. We have chosen to create our CMS in a script language called php4 and with the database server MySQL, we have also used JavaScript a lot.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the process of transferring information from science to "the field" of environmental protection in Sweden. I have studied four Swedish environmental organizations, Greenpeace Nordic, WWF Sweden, the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation and Friends of the Earth Sweden to see how they search/get information. I have also studied the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and its role as sender of information, since it is the authority which is responsible for environmental information in Sweden. I have used information and communication theories as a help to analyse my results. While working on this paper I realized that my methods were not the best.

The main focus for this essay is to describe the relationship between human and nature through a material investigation that takes its shape through sculpture. With the help of a fairytale-like story the reader can share the creation of the sculpture and how my thoughts flow through the process that will result in an exam project. Rooted in earlier projects I discuss the crash between civilization and the wilderness as well as talking about the likeness of the creative process and child play. I also discuss the body's place in the forest and the loneliness that we humans created that has cut us off from the rest of the creatures and plants in the forest. My aim is that in the final piece I will create a fiction place where these can be joined together again.

The aim of this thesis is to explore the institutional design of Participatory Budgeting (PB) in Sweden and how the design may contribute to realize central democratic goods. The study records the different PB experiences in Sweden and focuses on one particular case, which is the only case that successfully qualifies as a genuine PB-process according to international standards and definitions. To examine this, the following questions are asked: which municipalities in Sweden have implemented Participatory Budgeting? How can the institutional design of Participatory Budgeting be described and to what extent does it enable the realization of central democratic goods? To what extent does the institutional design enable the realization of the democratic goods inclusion, popular control, considered judgment and transparency? To what extent does the institutional design enable the realization of the institutional goods of efficiency and transferability?The study is based on an institutional theory of democracy. The method used is a mixed method ideal type analysis that combines document analysis, surveys and interviews.

Syftet med föreliggande studie är att studera en svensk skola utomlands och dess mellanstadielevers och lärares upplevelser av den thailändska religionen. Uppsatsens frågeställningar:· Hur upplever eleverna att de påverkas av att gå i en svensk skola utomlands?· Hur beskriver lärarna att de arbetar med undervisningen i religion på en svensk skola utomlands?· Hur upplever eleverna den thailändska religionen i skolan? Finns det några likheter eller skillnader, enligt lärare och elever, med svenska skolan hemma, när det gäller religionsundervisningen?Resultatet av undersökningen visade att eleverna uppskattade den lärarledda tiden som de tyckte var möjlig i större utsträckning på skolan utomlands. Undersökningen visade även att lärarna upplevde att det fanns många likheter med religionsundervisningen i Sverige såsom kursplaner och ämnets innehåll medan de ansåg däremot att det som skiljde dem åt var möjligheten till mycket mer studiebesök och möjlighet till lärarledd tid på skolan i Thailand. In this study we have interviewed eight teachers about when and how particle concepts should be taught. All of the surveyed teachers argue for an early introduction. This view is also consistent with the scientists on when the particle concepts should be introduced. By an early introduction teachers and scientists consider the age between 6-12 years old. A majority of the scientists and the surveyed teachers use concept of change as a entery point to talk about particle ideas.

In most software engineering project, users are only involved in the beginning of the project as a help to design the requirements specification but users can be involved after this phase too, but is it effective to do so? With this report we would like to investigate how effective it is to involve users after the requirements specification has been written and approved. To find out how effective it is to involve the users we try some fast and simple involvement techniques on a quite far gone project. These techniques include ethnographic studies, prototypes and surveys. We also interviewed a couple of people who work with usability and finally delivered a report with our results to them to find out if they found our result relevant. By also documenting how much time we spent involving users we will show to which degree user involvement is effective. We found out that a couple of fast techniques could get very much result in the form of usability enhancing suggestions to the developers.

The purpose of our master thesis was to investigate how a multicultural society is reflected in childrens books picture books, books for children and young people, published in 2002. We found this issue interesting since children of today experience a change in society, where people of many ethnicities, cultures and religions live together to a greater extent than before. Since children in their everyday life are exposed to these different cultures, we think they also should be exposed to them in the books they read. In order to enhance an understanding of why such books are important to children, especially immigrant children, we have in our thesis included a passage with childrens linguistic development, identification and stereotypes. Other passages concern libraries and their roles in a multicultural society.

Syftet med vår uppsats har varit att granska hur svensk kod för bolagsstyrning, koden, påverkar de olika maktgrupperna i den svenska ägarmodellen. Vi vill i vår studie studera om koden kommer att påverka den maktstruktur som idag kännetecknar Sverige med starka och inflytelserika ägare.Vi använder en av oss utvecklad analysmodell som vi kallar Kodnyttan. Denna modell ska hjälpa oss att mäta vad svensk kod för bolagsstyrning har för påverkan på de olika maktgrupperna. Utifrån denna kan vi se hur de olika maktgruppernas intressen tillgodoses, dels från de olika delarna i koden samt koden som helhet.I vår analys har vi kommit fram till att inte någon av de tre grupperna påverkas av kodens införande. Ett av kodens syfte är att skapa en väl avvägd maktbalans mellan de olika bolagsorganen, ägare, styrelse och verkställande ledning.

Under de senaste åren har det blivit vanligare att arbetsgivare väljer att avskeda en arbetstagare istället för att säga upp denne. En skillnad mellan dessa två åtgärder är att vid ett avsked avslutas anställningen omgående medan en uppsägning följs av en uppsägningstid. Den skillnad som är av största betydelse för arbetsgivarens val är att om arbetstagaren yrkar att uppsägningen ska ogiltigförklaras kvarstår anställningen tills tvisten är löst. Detta gäller inte vid avsked, där skiljs arbetstagaren från anställningen även om denne yrkar att avskedandet ska ogiltigförklaras.
