The purpose of this study was to describe and analyze youth community service in the Kalmar municipality. Our focus was on juvenile offenders and predecessor of public authorities. The juvenile offenders in our study have completed youth community service. A qualitative study was undertaken which include seven interviews. Our empirical data were compared and analyzed with previous research data.

Syftet med denna studie har varit att undersöka om och hur kulturen påverkar svenska och thailändska förskollärares förhållningssätt till barn och till sitt uppdrag. Studien har genomförts i en svensk och i en thailändsk förskola i Thailand för att kunna uppmärksamma skillnader. För att besvara syftet och frågeställningarna har kvalitativa intervjuer och observationer genomförts. Resultatet av intervjuerna och observationerna har visat att kulturen påverkar förskollärarnas förhållningssätt. Förskollärarna såg sitt uppdrag och förhållningssätt på olika sätt.

My purpose is to describe and analyse how care managers experience their position as middle managers in the public sector. I have used a qualitative interview method to answer this question and also to capture my six interview persons opinion and understanding of their own position as middle managers. From my six interviews I noticed some difference in their opinions about how it is being a care manger. The results show that the role as care managers have challenges such as to intertwine their own notion how the caring of the elder should be with strict politic decisions. Other challenges are the limitation of economic recourses and reorganisations.

In this essay we have examined how social workers experience their positions as a public authority person in a society of democracy. As a public officer you have to follow rules and obey the law, which can be difficult if they don't agree with your personal opinion and values. In social work you work with people in a vulnerable situation and it may become extremely demanding to stand between the directions of established public administration and your own opinions. We have interviewed ten social workers working in social childcare division and analysed how they experience their situation at work. Our starting point is the critical theory of professor Lennart Lundquist about how democracy works in Swedish administrations.

The purpose with this study is to examine what kind of support there is for school libraries at the selected independent upper secondary schools and how these schools ensure that libraryservices is available to their students and their teachers. The purpose is also to examine what attitudes the administrators of the schools have to school libraries and teaching in information seeking. A qualitative method with interviews was used to fulfil the purpose. As a theoretical basis of the study Loertschers taxonomies of the school library media program and Limbergs three levels of pedagogic research were used and the interviews were analysed with these two theoretical frameworks as a background. The result of the study showed that neither one of the three examinated schools has a school library which means that they use the public library instead.

The purpose of this bachelor?s thesis is to examine how public librarians and people engaged in sports associations think of the possibility of collaboration between their organizations regarding children and youth and furthermore how they think this collaboration and collaboration in general would or should be practiced. This is done in the light of the increasing necessity of collaboration in today?s information society as well as the view that reading and sports could make a good match. Focus is placed on the libraries? perspective and also on the respondents? perceptions and thoughts.

This is a reception study on how the idea of Paneuropa, as launched by the austrian count Richard Nikolaus Coudenhove-Kalergi in 1923, was received by the political weekly magazine Tidevarvet, a product of ? and an opinion forming organ for ? the social liberal wing of the Swedish suffrage- and peace movements. The main purpose is to examine to what extent there was an existent Europeanism in the public debate in Sweden during the interwar period, and how that discourse was constructed through the conceptual pairings disruption/unity and parts/whole. The study is conducted mainly through discourse analysis, combined with partly new research into sources such as the parliament, the newspapers and civil society to try to initiate a mapping over the wider reception of the Paneuropa project in a Swedish context. The study finds that the subject of Paneuropa is present throughout the almost entire period of the publication, namely 1924?1936, and that the question of a federal Europe is closely connected to the pacifist attitude of the editorial staff in general and writer/editor Elin W?gner in particular.

This thesis examines how techniques from place marketing, developed to market places, can be used in the process of designing a visual identity for an institution. The thesis is a case study of the development of a new visual identity for the public art institution Malmö konsthall. The essay presents Malmö Konsthall, defines the term visual identity and describes the main principles in place branding. I then define target audiences and key values, discuss the application of place marketing principle and go through the design process of the new visual identity. The process showed that theories about flagship buildings, signature design and signature districts have the biggest influence on the design.

Kollegiet för svensk bolagsstyrning, ett samarbete mellan det privata näringslivet och den statliga Förtroendekommissionen, har arbetat fram en kod vars syfte är att ge en samlad bild av god svensk praxis på området och bidra till en förbättrad styrning av svenska bolag. Denna uppsats bygger på en kvalitativ undersökning, där intervjuer har gjorts med fyra mindre företag och två sakkunniga inom ämnet bolagsstyrning. Uppsatsen ämnar undersöka hur revideringen av Svensk Kod för bolagsstyrning påverkar våra intervjuföretag, Oasmia Pharmaceutical AB, Tretti.se AB, Avalon Enterprise AB och Firefly AB. Analysen utvärderar skillnaderna mellan Kollegiets syfte med Koden och företagens inställning till den. Ett flertal observationer kunde göras, genom vilka författarna har dragit slutsatsen att företagen i dagsläget inte är fullt insatta i Kodens syfte och att de har en varierande inställning till revideringen av Koden.

The aim of this thesis is to explore possible differences between public and private companies? way to manage projects. In order to analyze the managerial aspects, we have studied the project of a new payment system implemented at the public-transport organization Upplands Lokaltrafik (UL). The project enables mobile payment by text message (SMS). Most theory concerning the management of projects is developed for private companies.

This essay aims to map the ideas behind the Swedish cultural reform called Kultursamverkansmodellen, and how the ideas are forming a discourse. Furthermore it examines the social praxis on the three levels that constitutes the model. The three levels are the state, the region and culture creators/civil society. This is a qualitative study based on primary and secondary sources collected on the three levels. The theoretical frame of reference is based on institutional theory, on Michel Foucault?s lecture on The Discourse of Language, and on New Public Management.

Inspired by the great arts of scientist and poet Robert J. Oppenheimer, the purpose of this paper is to unveil and highlight the attitudes towards the atomic bomb in Swedish newspapers during the early and most vivid years of the atomic era. By pinpointing and analysing central discourses caused by this paradigm breaking invention, this academic effort reveals the morbid moral of the story caused by loose speculations and the lack of knowledge..

Efter den svenska välfärdsstatens uppbyggnad ansåg man att den svenska förvaltningen var i behov av reformer. Dessa reformer skulle komma att förändra i stort sett hela den kommunala verksamheten, vissa kommuner mer än andra. Reformerna hade till stor del inspirerats av de idéer som av forskare kommit att kallas New Public Management. Då de fundamentala tankegångarna inom NPM har nyliberala förtecken, verkar det rimligt att anta att högerpartier varit mer mottalgliga för dessa idéer än vänsterpartier. Den kommunala förvandlingen har dock påverkat de flesta kommunerna oavsett politisk färg, vilket leder oss pröva teorier och hypoteser, där den ideologiska grunden som förklaringsfaktor till anammandet av dessa reformer.Genom att studera samtliga svenska kommuners tillämpande av dessa reformer kan vi med hjälp av olika förklaringsvariabler som, ideologi, ekonomi, kommuntyp, geografiskt läge, och på så sätt stärka eller falsifiera de teorier vi prövar.

Uppsatsen tar sin utgångspunkt i antagandet att det existerar ett antal så kallade misfits inom svenska elitfotbollsklubbar. Detta grundar sig i att 13 av 16 klubbar i Allsvenskan visade ett negativt driftresultat 2009. Med anledning av detta är syftet med uppsatsen att identifiera problem och möjligheter som finns relaterade till affärsutvecklingen inom svensk elitfotboll. I ett andra steg analyseras vilka åtgärder som krävs för att lösa de identifierade problemen och tillvarata möjligheterna. Svensk forskning inom affärsutveckling och fotboll är högst begränsad, varför vi anser att vår uppsats har ett betydande kunskapsbidrag.För att uppnå syftet har intervjuer med VD:ar i fyra olika allsvenska klubbar samt generalsekreteraren för Föreningen Svensk Elitfotboll genomförts.

Det engelska språket har sedan efterkrigstiden haft en allt större inverkan på svenskan, bl.a. genom att vara det främsta långivande/lånförmedlande språket. Med dessa nya lån följer ofta svårigheter att anpassa orden till svensk grammatik. Målet med min uppsats har varit att undersöka hur engelska inlånade substantiv böjs i plural på svenska: vilka böjningsformer som används, huruvida engelsk eller svensk böjning används oftare, vad försvenskad stavning har för betydelse för pluralböjningen, och om språkbrukare upplever pluralböjningen som något problematiskt. För att besvara dessa frågor genomfördes en undersökning av språket i bloggar samt en enkätundersökning.
