Elevers uppfattningar av musikundervisning i skolan

AbstractWe´re surrounded by music in many different ways. Sometimes we choose the music ourselves and sometimes it?s just there. The purpose of my thesis is to illustrate the Students apprehension and understanding of the teaching of music in school. Moreover, my own interest in this subject and its influence during my school years motivated me in researching my thesis.

Genom kunskaper om historien förstår vi nuet : En kvalitativ studie om gymnasieelevers uppfattningar av historieämnet

The purpose of this survey is to better understand how Students in Swedish upper secondary school perceive knowledge in history. 44 Students from two different schools took part in the survey. The Students partaking were asked to make a rough plan for a course in history, in which they were to both suggest contents of the course and also motivate their choice of content by arguing their view of the purpose of knowledge in history. The results of the survey were then compared to the curriculum of the history subject. The survey shows that a majority of the Students asked find modern history, especially World War 1 & 2, and Swedish history to be of importance.

AbstractThe intension with this paper was to describe the understanding Students in third grade had about mathematics and how these Students, based on their previous mathematics experiences, apprehend the coming national tests in mathematics. After the test period the student was interviewed on how they experienced their participation in the test. The choice of method was the qualitative case study where the data was collected from interviews and observations. In the result that was found, the interviewed Students described mathematics as counting. Students preferred easy math work and to solve routine tasks in math books instead of more demanding work.

The purpose of this essay is to examine how high school Students (age 13 to 19) search for information on the web and in databases. Furthermore, it aims to look into how critical of sources they are. The questions asked was: how the Students search for information in digital media? Which kind of sources do the Students use? How they evaluate the information they find? Do they get any education in information retrieval and source evaluation? To answer these questions Students were interviewed in groups about their information retrieval behavior. Furthermore two school librarians were interviewed about their experience of the Students? information retrieval.During the interviews it was clear that the Students had received quite sparse instructions on the subjects of information retrieval and criticism of the sources.

The purpose of this Bachelor?s thesis is to examine university librarians? perceptions of information literacy, of Students? information literacy and of education in information literacy. The focus is on how they perceive the Students? information literacy development during their university studies. Also of interest in this study is how librarians think that their teaching in information literacy should be included in the Students? other courses. Three librarians at a Swedish university library were interviewed using qualitative interviews.

AbstractIt is unclear how L2 Students acquire vocabulary ? how is it taught ? or wheather it can even be taught. In an SSL (Swedish as second language) program for young adults the ambition has been to integrate the L2 Students? into the national high school (gymnasium) courses as quickly as possible, in order to meet the Students? demands for subject education and to challenge them on an appropriate knowledge level. Teachers noticed quite early that the course ? integrated L2 Students seemed to have a deeper understanding of words and an easier flow in their speech.

This study aims to examine what Students in two schools think of the physical environment in their school, and how this affect their studies. My main question I wanted to answer was:How does the Students think that the physical environment affect their day in school?I also wanted to find out what the Students think is important in the physical environment in their school. The study is based on interviews with Students i two different schools. One secondary school, in which three eight-grade Students were interviewed, and one high school in which two Students were interviewed. The result of the interviews is that the Students think that their work in school is affected by the physical environment. The most important things is to feel safe in school and to have the possibilities to do studies without limitations in the environment, for example room to do their own studies, and a flexibility and variation in the environment.

AbstractThe aim of this essay was to examine the process from the teachers plan to what the stundents actually learned in the history subject. Too respond to the aim, I have performed interviews with one teacher, four Students and also observed one lesson. The interviews and observations have been analysed according to other writers works in this subject. The questions the essay starts out from is: What is the teachers plan for the lesson? How did the teacher and the Students carry trough the lesson? Have the Students achieved the teachers aim for the lesson? Thanks to the teachers plan for the lesson, how the teacher carried trough the lesson, and the teachers relation to the Students, there was good conditions for learning.

This study is about how Students 'performance in school is influenced by parents' educational background. The study has been performed by cooperation with two schools in Stockholm. One class in each school has participated and the Students have amongst other questions answered regarding their grades in natural science subjects. To examine whether parents 'educational background affect Students' performance, a quantitative survey in the form of poll has been conducted. Even a literature review was conducted in this area to get a clearer picture of how parents' educational background affects the performance of Students.This study shows that Students who have academic parents perform better than Students who have not got academically educated parents.

Truancy is a problem in the Swedish schools today, just as well as in other European and other developed countries where educataion is gratuitous. Teachers all over Sweden go to classes with a clear and well-planned schedule for the day. But some are unable to do their work because of asent Students. In this study I have chosen to focus on the perspective of the youths and the main question is: how do Students discuss and think about truancy. During the study I have chosen a qualitative approach and have therefore done observation in various classes in a Swedish senior high school in a suburb outside Stockholm during twelve weeks.

?This is a study of two school extern homework activities dedicated to helping Students with their homework. The questions at issue are 1) how are the homework activities organized when it comes to financing, planning, marketing and implementation? 2) Who participates as staff as well as Students and what are the requirements for participants? 3) What are the reasons for Students to attend school external homework sessions? Material was gathered by a survey among the Students at the activities and by interviews with principals for each activity. Two main findings are that the homework activities are almost exclusively visited by Students with immigrant background and that the main reasons for participating are difficulties with the Swedish language, and parents not being able to help their children with homework.
