Interkulturell pedagogik och nyanlända elevers erfarenheter och förkunskaper

The purpose of this paper is to find out pedagogues approach to intercultural education through IVIK, goals and guidelines, the school for newly arrived students and how student experience and knowledge are utilized. In my study, I used a qualitative research method. I have interviewed four teachers and four students and a school administrator at IVIK. Results of the study show that most teachers have a good understanding of interculturalism, but that doesn?t mean that teachers make of this relationship means in their teachings.

Mentorers betydelse, funktion och nytta för elever i gymnasieskolan : En narrativ studie kring mentorer och mentorskap utifrån ett elevperspektiv

The study describes six upper secondary school students? thoughts of and stories about mentors and mentorship in secondary school. The mentorship has been studied with a hermeneutic approach from a narrative pupil relational perspective, which is influenced by the phenomenological humanity perspective. The aim of this study is to describe a few pupils? life worlds and to try to interpret how they describe and explain their own behavior related to mentorship and their mentors.

Ledarskap och motivation. : Baskettränares ageranden och ungdomsspelares motivation.

Relativt få studier har undersökt tränarens betydelse för motivationen hos idrottsutövarna trots att många är överens om att tränaren är en viktig person inom idrott (Frederick & Ryan, 1995). Syftet var därför att studera tränarens beteende och hur detta förhåller sig till idrottarnas motivation. Föreliggande studie är en enkätundersökning (N = 104) utförd bland kvinnliga ungdomsbasketlag.  Hierarkisk multipel regressionsanalys användes för att undersöka sambandet mellan ledarskap från tränaren och motivation hos spelarna. I likhet med tidigare studier visade resultaten att framförallt tränarens fokusering på utveckling av idrottsliga färdigheter var betydelsefull för spelarnas inre motivation.  Mindre självbestämd motivation var däremot förknippad med låg tillfredsställelse med sin egen prestation. Studien visade också att amotivation var högre ju äldre spelaren var, vilket är viktigt för tränare att känna till och försöka motverka för att kunna behålla fler unga flickor inom idrotten..

The present study deals with the usage of the school library for upper secondary school students. Is it a place for working or studying? The questions are:? What do the students say they use their school library for?? Are there any differences between students in theoretical programs and students in practical programs with regard to their use of the school library?? What are the features of the ideal library from a students? point of view? My study represents a user?s perspective. The investigation is both quantitative and qualitative. Eighty-two inquiries from four different classes, representing two theoretical and two practical programs were carried out.

Förhållningssätt och bemötande i studie- och yrkesvägledningssamtal av elever uppväxta inom Jehovas vittnen

This essay aims to investigate how students raised in Jehovah's Witnesses have experienced their career counseling during their middle and high school education. My main objectives are, based on the testimonies of former Jehovah's Witnesses, to investigate how career counselors can find a strategy to approach these students in a non-threatening way. I also try to take into account the contextual elements which are of great importance when counseling students raised as Jehovah's Witnesses. A qualitative study has been carried out with five informants with a background in the movement. The material has then been analyzed using a qualitative, narrative method.

"Det bästa med skolan" : En elevinriktad studie om motiv och attityder till internationella utbildningsutbyten.

In Sweden, little research has been done on the topic of international exchange programs that various schools offer to their pupils. This study investigates how pupils view these exchange programs, and how in their opinion it affects their learning and their level of motivation. The study also investigates the motives for taking part in or declining an international exchange. To answer these questions a quantitative survey and qualitative interviews with pupils with and without experience respectively was carried out.The study indicates that pupils that have not taken part in an exchange believe that it is a time consuming quest that may affect the student?s results in other courses, which is not a belief shared by the other group.

Barn och sociala medier : Hur sociala medier påverkar elever och skolans arbete mot kränkande behandling

This work is about the rights of children, how students use social media and how effective teachers are using social media in their work against abusive treatment. The purpose of this work is to examine what students have rights in school, what and how students use social media and how schools and teachers are working to prevent the abuse that takes place over the internet and via mobile phones. The method used to investigate this is partly a survey of students in grades five and six at four different schools and interviews with four practicing teachers, working as a teacher in each class who made survey. My conclusion is that children have a variety of rights in school, and all schools and teachers are working on this through rules, values ??clarification and collaborative exercises. More and more younger children use out of social media, the survey shows that many of the students in grades five and six uses much social media.

Att arbeta med pedagogisk dokumentation för att överbrygga klyftan mellan teori och praktik : Ett undervisningsförsök för att skapa större förståelse i frisörutbildningen

The aim of this project was to change the way cutting techniques are being taught. I wished to try a method which I believed to enhance my students´ participation and understanding of their education. My purpose was to reduce the gap between theory and practice. After conducting a learning style test I found that most of them considered the best way for them to learn was by combining practice with dialogue and reflection of the tasks being done. That is why we tried to start working with the practical elements rather than traditionally starting with the theoretical aspects, while carefully intertwining terms and language of the trade into the education.

?Jag vill vara där dom andra är" : Specialpedagogiska insatser ur elevperspektiv

This study was about how pupils described their school situation with special education. The specific focus was on pupils which are described as ?troubled pupils?, unconcentrated pupils?, pupils in social and emotional difficulties or characterised by similar concepts. The study was based on a sociocultural perspective and an interactional perspective. The empirical material consisted of interviews with eight pupils in age between 9 to 12 years old and who had special education.

Should I stay or should I go: Effekter av inre och yttre motivation på tendensen att stanna kvar på en arbetsplats.

Syftet med denna studie var att försöka hitta ett svar på om inre och/eller yttre motivation var faktorer som bidrog till att individer stannar kvar hos samma arbetsgivare under en längre tid. Undersökningen gjordes på ett industriföretag där testpersonerna, som var 81 stycken, delades upp i tre grupper beroende på längden av sin anställningstid, och fick svara på en enkät med påståenden om motivation. Undersökningen utgick från Self Determination Theory (SDT) som bygger på tanken att beteenden som styrs av inre motivation har större chans att upprätthållas än de som styrs av yttre motivation. Detta är intressant för vår undersökning då vi vill se om det finns ett samband mellan motivation och anställningstid. En longitudinell studie påbörjades för att i förlängningen få svar på om motivation är något som finns från början av anställningen eller något som kommer med tiden.

Attityd till högre utbildning och studieengagemang bland gymnasieelever på landsbygd : Attitude to higher education and study engagement among high school students in a rural community

The present study examined high school students? attitudes to higher education at university/college and their study engagement in an industrial town in klarälvdalen in the county of Värmland. The main research question was whether there are any differences between students in vocational and theoretically oriented programs regarding their attitude to higher education and study engagement. The results was also compared with a study with the same research question conducted in Countryside town in fryksdalen, Värmland county to see whether attitude and student engagement differ between high school students in different parts of Värmland. The method used was quantitative with data collected by using questionnaires.

Elevinflytande genom pedagogisk samsyn : en undersökning av ett specifikt arbetslag

In this study we wanted to have a closer look at how a specific working team of pedagogues in the senior part of elementary school works with student influence through a pedagogical concept created by themselves. We have used qualitative interviews as a method to achieve relevant information from the pedagogues, and from students teached by the same.The purpose of the study was to investigate how the working team, through the concept, pursue real student influence within different school subjects and how the individual student is favored in his/her learning process. Another intention was to find out to what extent the students experience this influence. We also wanted to elucidate the advantages as well as the disadvantages of this concept, and to shed some light on how the informants view the future development of the concept.The result shows that consensus prevails to a large extent among teachers and students regarding the signification of real student influence in the everyday learning situation. It also appears that the students? abilities to exercise influence vary between different school subjects.

Läsundervisning på mellanstadiet : En studie om svensklärares arbete och förutsättningar att stimulera elevers läsglädje

This thesis aims to study how teachers develop pupils' motivation to read. Using qualitative interviews, three Swedish middle school teachers describe their experiences regarding pupils' motivation to read. They comment on how they attempt to stimulate motivation and the conditions and circumstances they experience while carrying out their work. As a basis for the teacher interviews, their pupils completed a web based survey about how they value reading as an activity and how they see themselves as readers. An analysis of the interviews raises several issues for discussion: pupils have different needs, good readers are described through their abilities, not through their experiences or reading habits, and teachers feel they can be limited to implement the teaching they think is necessary to promote reading abilities.

"Det är svårt att gå i två klasser samtidigt" : En studie om nyanlända elever i den svenska skolan

The essay aims to highlight the newly arrived immigrant students? experience of social integration and social security in the Swedish school system, which is important for their further language and learning development. This essay aims to see it from the student's perspective. The main question in this essay is: What factors seem to matter the most for the newly arrived immigrant students in their language and learning skills, and what does the students themselves think about the issue? The study is based on a qualitative research method in the form of interviews and observations conducted in a multicultural school for a period of two weeks.

Arbetstillfredsställelse - är motivation viktigare än organisationskultur

Med Hackman och Oldhams (1976) teori om grunderna för att känna arbetstillfredsställelse undersöks här om motivation, organisationskultur och personlighet kan ha något förklaringssamband. Motivationshygienteorin som är framtagen av Herzberg (Herzberg, Mausner & Snyderman, 1959) används för att undersöka motivation. För personlighet används den välkända och väl validerade femfaktormodellen som McCrae och Costa har gjort sig kända för. Organisationskultur mäts utifrån Scheins (1990) definition av organisationskultur. Utifrån dessa teorier utformades en enkät som var mätinstrumentet.
