Nowadays naval units are participating in international missions, where new and in many cases tougher conditions will affect their propulsion. This essay deals with some of the now developed nanostructure coatings and gives a presentation of how the coatings could function on some exposed parts of the naval powertrain. The essay investigates the possibility that the coatings can be used as a protective layer that will reduce or prevent wear on selected parts of the naval powertrains. As a basis for the essay, nanotechnology is described, as well as different reasons that wear occurs and application techniques for coatings The conclusion is that nanostructured coatings can be applied and provide a much better result on hardness and wear resistance as of naval powertrains compared to micro-structural coatings, both for manufacturing and renovation. The essay presents a few examples of the military utility of the nanostructure coatings as well as suggestions for further research..

The European Union is a 60 year long collaboration between the European countries. It was born from the intention to ease trade and thereby reassure peace. Within the 60 years EU has functioned it has developed and expanded further. In 1952 it evolved around the trade of coal and steel between six countries, today it includes 27 nations and oversees a large number of topics such as foreign affairs, a common currency and regional politics. EU has grown at several times, the latest expansion was the largest where 12 new countries became members. The unions of countries that only 60 years ago were at different sides of a world war can be considered an accomplishment.

The essay begins by asserting that the theoretical approaches of men?s violence against women are just as important to study as its extent. The purpose is therefore to analyse and compare two theoretical approaches which is done by a comparative text analysis of two texts written on the subject. The essay attempts to answer two questions; what the theoretical approaches are and how they can be understood in light of feminist theory.Previous research on men?s violence against women discuss especially three theoretical aspects.

Uppsatsen är avsedd att vara ett inlägg i frågan om hur vår grundläggande yrkesidentitet präglar våra identiteter som psykoterapeuter. Den tar upp frågan om man kan urskilja identiteten hos socionomer och psykologer efter den gemensamma psykoterapeututbildningen, utifrån de svarsalternativ en grupp psykoterapeuter gör i en vinjettundersökning.De teoretiska ingångarna är psykologi respektive socialt arbete och centrala begrepp för de bägge professionsfälten idag.Resultaten har analyserats med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys och visar på en skillnad mellan de två grupperna, framförallt när det gäller begreppen kognition och empowerment.I diskussionen framgår att det finns en linje även i fler av resultaten, som understryker att likheterna är större än skillnaderna, men att man kan se grundutbildningens påverkan i psykologens mer intrapsykiska förhållningssätt medan  socionomen reflekterar över  faktorer som berör människans kontextuella och samhälleliga tillvaro.  .

Drawing on a broad theoretical framework that includes theories about globalisation and honourculture, this thesis aim is to demonstrate that globalisation and honourculture, constitute a conceptual network, i.e a structural relational matrix in which concepts are embedded. Being part of conceptual network, these concepts are related to each other ontologically. The idea of conceptual network, and the thesis as a whole, draw upon what has been called ?relational perspective?This study aims to show the impact of globalisation on honourculture. The study shows the importance of narrative in the construction of discursive boundaries.

This thesis is based on thirteen qualitative interviews with civil servants and politicians. The purpose of the study is to research these informants? attitudes towards integration and their reflections about immigrants? lower chances in an ethnically segregated housing and labour market. The theoretical frame of references is based on social constructionism and focuses on including and excluding power structures. The empirical material provides both structural and cultural explanations to immigrants? problems as regards inclusion in Swedish society.

Syftet med studien var att undersöka hur äldrevårdspersonal upplever sin yrkesroll utifrån sig själva och hur de tror att samhället ser på åldringsvård och på dem som arbetar inom äldrevården. I begreppet samhälle ingår samhällsmedborgare, media och andra yrkesgrupper. En kvalitativ metod i form av intervjuer har genomförts och spelats in samt transkriberats. För att sedan tolka svaren för att försöka finna svar på syftet. Undersökningen syftade till att ta reda på om empowerment kan tillämpas i yrket.

AbstractIn this thesis I will discuss the relationship between the European Union and the regions of Europe. The development of the European Union has meant that many decisions are taken in Bruxelles. Many actors participate in the policyprocess ranging from national goverment to policynetworks of different kinds. An emerging actor has been the regions of Europe. Their influence on the policyprocess have grown and today almost all of them are represented in Bruxelles through Region Offices.

The elderly care is an area of great importance to women. Women are more often in need of elderly care; they work with the service and provide a majority of the informal service. Research shows that managers? work-related prerequisites are significantly different between the male dominated technical administration and the female dominated care and educational administration. Studies also show that what the highest managerial organisation gives priority to, often permeate the whole organisation.

Interaction is an important part of children?s development. The school is a main arena in which children learn to interact, mainly through their playing. This study aims at investigating the role of interaction in a leisure school didactic setting. The aim of the study is to gain a better understanding for how the pupils develop though use of social interaction.

The need of raw material does of course fluctuate but the long term view is an increasing demand due to the growing consumption of sawn timber products, pulp, paper and lately also biomass. This has led to a keener competition for wood. At the same time there is an ongoing structural change of a significant part in the Swedish wood supply market, the private forest owners. In 1992, 22 % of Sweden´s 335 000 private forest owner lived apart from their forest. In 2007 this figure had risen to 36 %.

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study has been to analyse and understand the effects of heteronormative structures in the Swedish asylum process. Homosexual refugees, seeking asylum in Sweden, is in focus when proceeding an analysis about these social structures and normative phenomena. The main discourse, being handled in this study, is between homosexuality and heterosexuality. However, central findings in this study consists of how different approaches, such as gender based identities as well as sexual preferences and ethnic background, combined is influencing the asylum process and the treatment of the asylum seekers.The analysis is based upon legal material, as well as the guidelines and work ethics of the Migrationsverket, which is being compared with theoretical approaches on heteronormativity and structural hierarchy. Sjukförsäkringen genomgick en förändring 2008 (SFB; 2010:110) och skulle med den nya inriktningen få fler sjukskrivna att delta i arbetslivet och minska på antalet bidragstagare som inte har möjlighet att bidra till stadskassan. Det medförde ökade krav för att vara sjukskriven och även på de som redan var i en pågående sjukskrivning genom att rehabiliteringskedjan infördes. Rehabiliteringskedjan innebär tidsgränser för bedömning av återgång i arbete för att förhindra fleråriga sjukskrivningar. Ökade resurser lades på Arbetsförmedlingen för att öka möjligheten för så kallad arbetslivsinriktad rehabilitering och bedömning av arbetsförmåga. Denna uppsats är utförd med kvalitativ metod och genom öppna intervjuer, Syftet med denna uppsats är att beskriva hur personer med lång sjukskrivning upplever övergången mellan sjukskrivning och arbetslivsinriktad rehabilitering hos Arbetslivsresurs.

The major focus in this study is structural inequalities in primary school in Sweden. UNESCO points out that in many developing countries, up to 40% of the children perform at or below the lowest proficiency level in language and mathematics. Sweden has been criticized by the UN about the large differences in educational achievements between different regions. Based on an official study Sweden considers that those differences are related to ethnically segregate residential areas. My research question is whether the Swedish government takes adequate consideration of the impact that socioeconomically aspects have on educational achievement.

The purpose of this study is to explore and understand the social and structural dynamics of an organization working with questions regarding development. The organization in question is Vi-agroforestry, a Swedish based NGO that works around the lake Victoria basin and the focus will be on their office in Rwanda. I have used a qualitative approach and conducted participatory observation as well as semi-structured interviews to gather data. I have emanated from the individuals in the organization by using a theory of microsociological organisationperspecive to understand how the employees create and is created by the existing social structures. (Blomberg, 2003) Even though the office in Rwanda only is a relatively small part of Vi-agroforestry?s operations it is still highly individual and independent from the rest of the organization.
