Miljö- och hälsoskyddskontorets tillsynsarbete - ur verksamhetsövarens perspektiv
Nanofiltration is a proper way of preparation of drinking water. The process has a lot in common with reverse osmosis where a semipermeable membrane is used to separate a pure water flow from the remaining water. A pilot plant was used to ensure that nanofiltration is a suitable technology for a specific waterworks station in Glemmingebro, Ystad. The purpose was also to find out if a pH-adjustment is needed for feed water in a possible full scale plant. In this case nanofiltration is used mainly to remove sulphate and calcium since the raw water contains concentrations of these substances which exceed the limits for potable water. It is important to receive a high recovery (RC), otherwise the deliviery of water won?t be high enough.
Distribution of wild boar (Sus scrofa) damage and harvest loss in crop fields
The last decades the populations of wild boar (Sus scrofa) has increased rapidly over the species? entire European range, including Sweden. This is followed by increasing human-wildlife conflicts as a result of the wild boar foraging behavior, causing damage to agricultural crop fields due to trampling and feeding. To be able to minimize damage we need more knowledge of where in the fields the risk of damage is high and what features in the landscape that affect this risk. I analyzed damage distribution in relation to the distance to six different landscape features; forest, road, ditch, building, game field and bait station, in the study area, the Island Mörkö in eastern central Sweden.
Astma hos katt : etiologi, patofysiologi och diagnostik
Precis som människans allergiska astma beror kattastma på en överreaktion av immunförsvaret i nedre luftvägarna med IgE som huvudsaklig mediator. Detta resulterar i ett Th 2-svar som leder till kronisk eosinofil inflammation med hosta, bronkkonstriktion och andnöd som följd.
Forskning och diagnostik försvåras av att mycket om sjukdomen är dåligt beskrivet. Eosinofiler i luftvägarna är en av de parametrar som används mest i forskningen, trots att det idag inte finns några fastslagna referensvärden för friska och sjuka individer. Oklarheter om eosinofilvärdet är den största bristen i dagens forskning och diagnostik och är den parameter man bör lägga mest fokus på i framtiden.
Astma behandlas normalt med fokus på symptomen genom systemisk administration av glukokortikoider. Glukokortikoiderna ges i så låg dos som möjligt som fortfarande lindrar symptomen.
Manukahonung vid sårbehandling på hund och katt
Honung har en historia inom sårvård som går långt tillbaka i tiden. Idag används honung både inom veterinär- och humanmedicinsk vård. Den honung som används är framförallt Manukahonung från växten Leptospermum scoparium i Nya Zeeland. Honung anses ha ett flertal positiva effekter på sårläkning och här fokuseras på tre av dem: antibakteriell effekt, påskyndad sårläkning samt antiinflammatorisk effekt. Syftet med denna litteraturöversikt är att se vad det finns för vetenskaplig grund till Manukahonungs påstådda effekter och för att få en uppfattning om användbarheten inom veterinärmedicinsk sårvård för hund och katt.
Den allmänna uppfattningen är att den antibakteriella effekten hos Manukahonung är bekräftad då flertalet studier har visat detta, även på multiresistenta bakterier.
Nya metoder för vibrationsmätning på vindkraftverk
This project has revolved around finding better ways of overseeing vibrations of the gearbox at a wind power station. The gearbox has been a huge problem at the stations located at Gässlingen and the sooner the warning of an incoming breakdown is at hand the more money you can save from preparations. The work has been carried out together with Askalon AB in cooperation with consults from ÅF. Askalon is a company with a department focused on overseeing vibrations and it is in collaboration with that department the work has been carried out. During this work, new positions for the sensors and new methods of gathering and analyzing data have been worked out. This was then implemented at a wind power station to be tried out on site.
Konstruktion av en autonom vindstation
Construction of an autonomous wind station was a project with the goal of creating a product that could collect wind data from a sensor and then transfer this data to a server wirelessly over the GSM network. The device would be powered by batteries and solar cells and function fully without requiring external power supply. This required that a small computer was constructed and programmed to store and send data at predetermined cycle times and programming of a server that received the sent data. The project also required optimization of power consumption and dimensioning of solar cells and batteries based on this. The construction of this station demanded research both for the selection of hardware and programming software. The computer was based on a microcontroller and a GSM module that sent the data over the 2G network.

Plesiomonas shigelloides is a gram-negative, oxidase-positive rodshaped bacterium of the family Enterobacteriaceae. P. shigelloides is most frequently isolated in tropical and subtropical areas, but has also been isolated in colder areas for instance in Sweden. The primary natural habitat of the bacterium is fresh water and indirectly waterliving animals, but the bacterium can also be recovered from humans, mammals (of which cats are over-represented), birds, insects and poikilothermic animals. Småskalig vattenkraft vid Olofsfors bruksmuseum : Med faunapassage
In Sweden there are 1894 small-scale hydropower plants in operation, which together generate 4.3 TWh of electricity per year according to Swedish hydropower compound (SVKF, 2011). This corresponds to the annual consumption of about 860,000 Swedish households (based on an annual consumption of 5000 kWh). In the mid-1950s there were around 4000 small-scale hydropower plants in operation in Sweden before cheap fossil fuels and uranium competed with them, in the current situation only 1,894 of these are in use. If slumbering small hydropower plants once again would be taken into use and some new ones are built, we would be able to extract about 7 TWh of renewable electricity from these annually in Sweden, representing about 1.4 million households.The thesis intends to calculate and construct a hydroelectric power plant at the existing dam in Olofsfors and give suggestions on how the power station should run during the time that fish migration is greatest in Leduån.The turbine and generator to the station in Leduån at Olofsfors is designed by the height of the fall and the water flow through the dam. The turbine selected for the station is a CK-1000RM turbine with a 4-pole 250 kW generator from Cargo & power turbine Sweden AB, which is expected to deliver 1.2 GWh per year.

This Thesis in Military Technology deals with experiences drawn from the forced introduction of Weapons Station 01, 2009. The work aims to identify the experiences regarding the forced procurement of military equipment to see how they can develop normal and fast procurement of equipment. The main conclusions of this work, is to achieve greater capability and increase the military utility, are: -         Common objectives and priorities of stakeholders-         Response and joint types shall determine requirements for system-         Ensure an integrated project team also at lower levels-         Engage the integrated logistic support early in the materiel process-         Include Armed Forces staff as early as possible in the testing and validation-         Prioritize work to facilitate the rapid development of decision on use (BOA)-         Provide back up for increased redundancy in the mission area .

In this thesis a transport system is sought after thatif realised in the city of Uppsala could provide bothwell-being to all its inhabitants and sustainability,here jointly refered to as liveability. It is found thatthe car dominated transport system that is inoperation today provides two fundamental values,namely accessibility in both time and space, whichsets it apart from other transport solutions. Thesetwo values are of immense importance for theliveability in our modern world. On the other handthe car dominated system decreases the liveabilityof Uppsala in several different ways. Some of theseproblems, it is argued, could be solved within thecar system, through the adoption of moreenvironmentally friendly cars etc., but otherproblems are inherent in the car system and willremain no matter what changes are made.
Kan flamskyddsmedel i hemmet skada kattens sköldkörtel?
Bromerade flamskyddsmedel (BFR) är kemiska föreningar innehållandes brom som tillsätts till föremål med syfte att minimera skador vid en eventuell brand. De finns bland annat i möbler, textiler och elektronisk utrustning och de blev under senare delen av 1900-talet mycket frekvent använda över hela världen. I dag har man börjat fundera på om dessa ämnen lämnat oönskade spår i våra hem som kan ha negativa följder för vår och våra husdjurs hälsa. Man misstänker att vissa grupper av BFR stör det endokrina systemet i kroppen och en specifik frågeställning som ställt av många forskare är om de har en negativ effekt på sköldkörteln och dess hormon. Sköldkörteln är ett av kroppens viktigaste endokrina organ och styr bland annat tillväxt och metabolism i flera olika vävnader.
Analys av produktionsflödet
Detta examensarbete utfördes våren 2007 på industriverkstaden Ducorail i Luleå. Målet med examensarbetet är att få in tre nya arbetsstationer i den nuvarande produktionskedjan, dessa tre stationer är en demontering/monterings station för cylindriska lager, och en liknande station för TBU lager samt att en tvättanläggning ska nyinstalleras. Den befintliga kedjan ska ses över eftersom en del stationer kan hamna i vägen om man låter dem vara kvar. Utan omorganisation skulle det leda till onödigt truckanvändande eftersom hjulen måste lyftas över stationer som ligger felaktigt. Några alternativa lösningar togs fram, efter utvärdering av dessa valdes en idé att arbeta vidare på.

In the past, poisoning cases was considered unusual, but nowadays they are considered more common. As a veterinary nurse, it is important to know the common symptoms of poisoning, especially when working with emergency veterinary care. A very essential part of the profession as a veterinary nurse is to inform pet owners about the potentially dangerous substances and how poisonings can be prevented.
The purpose of this report was to find out what is written scientifically about some common poisonings in dogs and cats and to present available statistics that covers the number of animals poisoned by various substances in Sweden. Hopefully this essay can also be used as a handbook for professionals in animal health care and to assist in educating pet owners.
The report mainly covers groceries found in many homes, often easy accessible.
Integrering av ekodesign i produktutvecklingsprocessen hos Blå Station
Eco-design is all about improving products environmental performances throughout the products lifecycle by including the environmental aspect into the product development process. There are a large number of different tools that can be used for this, but there are several factors that can affect which one will be the best to use. Some tools for eco-design takes comprehensive studies and can only be performed by experts, while some tools can be used more time- and cost efficient and with basic knowledge. The choice of tool should be based on the company?s situation.This report describes the research of how the design and furniture company Blå Station could include a tool for eco-design in their product development process.
Värmeåtervinning av gruvventilationsluft - LKAB i Kiruna
For att brytning under jord ska vara mojlig maste stora mangder frisk luft pressasned till brytningsnivan, vilket gors fran olika gruvventilationsstationer. For att undvikanedisning i schakten varms tilluften upp till 1. innan luften transporteras nedi berget. Idag sker denna uppvarmning av varmebatterier som nyttjar spillvarmefran kulsinterverken. Finns ett extra varmebehov spetseldas det med olja.Franluften ar fuktig och varm.
