Climate change is expected to lead to increased rainfall and higher temperatures, among other things. This will have a major impact on our cities. Floods can lead to property damage as well as damages to human and animal health. Higher temperatures will increase the frequency of heat-related health risks and premature deaths. The consequences of climate change will be particularly large in our cities because of the city's morphology with a high amount of paved surfaces and buildings that affect the natural processes in areas such as drainage and absorption of solar radiation.

This thesis is about language planning in Faeroese libraries as seen from the countrys specific situation, with Faeroese as a mothers tongue, but with great dominance of the Danish language within media. The purpose of my thesis is to examine language planning activities within the library, and the consequences this planning has for the system. Different theories about language planning provides a framework for my model of the library as a linguistic eco-system with actors performing status planning, represented by the government with its influence in cultural politics, the librarian with his or her library tasks and the user with his or her needs. The thesis has a qualitative attempt, and the empirical material consists of different documents about the country and materials from interviews made with seven qualified librarians, employed within general libraries in the Faeroe Islands. The analysis shows that the librarian in different ways promotes the Faeroese language within library activities, and because of the attention paid to the user in the public library he/she influences the librarians planning.

Översiktsplanen är ett verktyg för kommunen att visa sin vision med mark- och vattenanvändningen. Eftersom planen ger förutsättning för typer av verksamheter som bedöms påverka miljön betydande ska den miljöbedömas. Miljöbedömning genomförs med syftet att integrera miljöaspekter i planeringsprocessen och genom att beskriva konsekvenser av verksamheter och planering ges också beslutsfattare ett bredare beslutsunderlag, samtidigt som allmänheten ska kunna få en bättre insyn i planeringsprocessen. Det är viktigt att identifiera och bedöma konsekvenser av planering, för att forma planeringen på så sätt det skapas förutsättning för en hållbar utveckling. Denna studie är en fallstudie med inriktning på att beskriva skillnader i kvalitet vid olika typer av miljöbedömning, utförda av kommun respektive konsult och med miljökonsekvensbeskrivningen integrerad i planen respektive separat. Processen miljöbedömning och dokumentet miljökonsekvensbeskrivningen styrs till innehåll och utformning i Miljöbalken och hur god kvalitet en miljöbedömning har är både kopplad till process och dokument. The current planning philosophy is based on a political utopic modernism founded during the first part of the 20th century. The focus is, in planning a defined area, to maximize the internal efficiency and to create a competitivesociety. During the latter part of the former century globalization changed the context, thus creating the need for a new way of approaching physical planning. This paper shows that the historical and philosophicalmetaphor of flow can be applied to meet the demands in the global city. It also shows how the edge, as where interaction takes place, is an important part of the content that has to be defined.

This study has been performed with the help of forest machine operators in order to improve the forestry planning at Holmen Skog Örnsköldsvik-region. For Holmen Skog forestry planning is basic for a successful forestry. In a survey I have investigated what can be improved in some areas that are planned for harvesting. The result of the investigation will be used to support the machine operators as much as possible. The study has generated 49.5 % of responses and because of this low response rate, no clear conclusions to anyone else except the responding machine operators can be drawn. It has been proved that there are some details in the forestry planning system that are inadequate, such as marked routs for trails, tractor paths and buffer zones against streams. The quality of forestry planning varies greatly between different locations, as much as 50 % of the responding machine operators thought so. Over 40 % of the responding machine operators claim that the information from Holmen is insufficient. One thing that would improve the forestry planning within Holmen would be to educate all forestry planners and then do continuous follow-ups..

The main advantages they can see is that they are able to influence technical solutions and methods that will be used later on in the production. Therefore it is important to consider when construction workers should be involved in the planning process so that they get the chance to influence in this decisions.When it comes to the decision making the construction workers should be involved in the decisions that are related to their tasks in the production such as technical solutions, choice of methods and materials. Their main duties and working hours should be in the production.Involvement in planning does not automatically mean that the construction workers are involved in the decision making, it is up to them how much they participate.

Syftet med arbetet är att undersöka hur Eskilstunas centrala stadstorg, Fristadstorget, kan bli mer inbjudande och attraktivt då det idag råder en vedertagen syn bland medborgare och kommun att torget inte är inbjudande nog. Torget brukas inte i den utsträckning som stadens publika vardagsrum kan och bör göras. För att möjliggöra en ökad användning och uppskattning bör torget omvandlads, och det flexibelt. Arbetet är indelat i tre huvuddelar som leder fram till ett gestaltningsförslag vilket konkretiserar hur Fristadstorget kan göras både flexibelt samt inbjuda till en mer vardaglig användning då den flexibla ytan inte fylls av ytkrävande evenemang. Öppna och omöblerade platser har sällan någon dragningskraft och alstrar inte folkliv och attraktivitet, därav uppstår problematik i planeringen av stortorg för de dagar flexibiliteten inte nyttjas fullt ut. Arbetet är en fallstudie som belyser det generella genom att se till det enskilda fallet för att ge svar på varför det efterfrågade i undersökningen inträffar (brist på attraktivitet och låg användning).

Studien syftar till att söka samband mellan gestaltning av den fysiska miljön och upplevd trygghet runt ett förortscentrum, samt undersöka hur dessa förhållanden behandlas i en centrumomvandling. Detta gjordes utifrån en fallstudie över Mörby centrum. Genom observationer, intervjuer och frågeformulär samlades data in, som sedan ställdes mot beprövade teorier av såväl forskare som myndigheter och författare. Dessa användes sedan för att granska den nya detaljplanen över området ur ett trygghetsperspektiv. Studien visade att sambanden mellan upplevd trygghet och gestaltning av den fysiska miljön är många och starka. Den nya planen över Mörby centrum ger utifrån analysen goda förutsättningar att öka den upplevda tryggheten, då den behandlar många av de samband som hittades. Det uppdagades dock att nya otrygga områden kan utvecklas runt centrumet, men att dessa inte kan påvisas med visshet innan planen är genomförd..

AbstractThe importance of good construction planning affects the final costs of the production and the timing of the project. Planning for building projects has been studied with the aim of identifying how three week planning appears in the construction industry today.A case study has been conducted in Navisworks Simulate to assess whether the software is suitable to connect the task schedule with the BIM model to create a 4D model. 4D models are used for performing 4D construction simulation to visualize the project. In order to use the benefits of the model, investment in equipment and software is required. This means higher costs for the companies.

The purpose of this essay is to study how the local creators of a "master plan" for the swedish city Kristinehamn, the years between 1940 to -43, looked on their planning. It is an analysis of ideas case study. A hypothesis is upheld for the research: that the local physical planning had largely extended ambitions what regards central state control in a way that is similar to planned economy. Questions that are asked include: Was the planning assumed to be a tool for the state to regulate the environment? Can the planning be seen as a mean to control the society in time and space? The essay search for verification of the hypothesis by a theoretical analysis apparatus made upp of ideal types.

Syftet med uppsatsen har varit att jämföra Naturvårdsverkets förslag till en förändring av strandskyddsbestämmelserna, som kom år 2002, med de nya strandskyddsbestämmelserna som i fullo trädde i kraft den förste februari år 2010. Vidare har frågan hur de allmänna intressena tas till vara i strandskyddsbestämmelserna ställts samt hur förändringarna i lagstiftningen har påverkat detaljplaneringen av strandområden i tätortsområden. En fallstudie gjorts över ett strandnära område där ett planförslag har gjorts för att visa hur de nya strandskyddsbestämmelserna kan tillämpas vid detaljplanering. Avgränsningen av arbetet har varit intresseavvägningen mellan de allmänna intressena och de privata utmed strandkanten vid detaljplanering samt till att studera strandskyddets påverkan vid detaljplanering i strandnära lägen. Every plan and program decided on by an authority or municipality, where the environmental impact can be considerable, must be environmentally assessed according to Environmental Code, the Planning and Building Act (PBA) and the Regulation on Environmental Impact Assessment.The purpose of this study is to examine the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for The Region Development Plan for the Stockholm Region, RUFS 2010. The plan was approved by at that time the Regional Planning Office (Regionplanekontoret), which procured the process by consultants. RUFS 2010 includes two merged plans ie. a regional Development Plan (RUP) and the Regional Spatial Plan for Stockholm. It was necessary to establish an environmental assessment of RUP, but not for the regional plan.

I uppsatsen har fallstudier gjorts för att undersöka hur stadsodling kan fungera som appropriation av stadsrum, på vilket sätt den kommunala organisationen påverkar stadsodlingens förutsättningar liksom om stadsodling kan bli en del av planeringen. Stadsodling har mer eller mindre varit närvarande i svenska städer sedan medeltiden. Syftet och uttrycket har dock kommit att variera över tiden. Stadsodlingsformen som uppsatsen undersökt handlar om kollektiva odlingar i dagens stadskärnor eller i dess periferi. För att undersöka detta har fyra fallstudier i Sverige gjorts, två i Lund, en i Malmö och Umeå.
