People recieving social assistance is today very common in Swedish society. Of those receiving social assistance single mothers is one ofthe largest groups. The purpose of this study is to examine how single mothers with social assistance experience themselves to be treated by social services, how this treatment affects their confidence in the social services and how they experience it is to live with social assistance. To answer the question, we use qualitative interviews with three clients. Previous research has shown that single mothers receiving social assistance experience vulnerability, and how they perceive it is affected by how they are treated by their social secretaries.

The main purpose of this study was to examine, and illustrate, highschool social workers experiences of pupils with self-injurious behaviour. Self-injurious behaviour in this study refer to individuals who harm them-selves, with physical injury as consequence, without purpose to commit suicide. A qualitativ method was used and five highschool social workers, in the south of Sweden, were interviewed.The main questions were:- What kind of experiences have highschool welfare officers of pupils with self-injurious behaviour?- What view, and personal opinion have the welfare officers at the problem, and how do this affect them in their work with these pupils.The school social workers experiences of pupils with self- injurious behaviour, were for instance that the pupils often feel ashemed over their behaviour and that they often have lowe self-esteem. The social workers seemed to imagine the behaviour as a copingstrategy.It turned out that the social workers personality and their personal opinion regarding self-injurious behaviour, were of great importance in their work with these pupils..

The purpose of this study is to interogate the tension-laden relationsship between men (of the dominant classes and ethnicities) and feminism. Closely linked to this lies the question of how valid and relevant official Swedish goals of gender equality can be to the Centres for Women´s Studies and Gender Research in Sweden.The essay is mainly an in-depth qualitative study concerned about questions such as; how does feminist researcher in Sweden perceive the question of men in/doing feminism and what are the implications of these perceptions for the Swedish goals of gender equality? Thus, in this study I´ve interviewed six feminist researchers, five women and one male, about their view of men doing/in/and feminism and about the adequacy of equality goals to the Centres for Women´s Studies and Gender Research in Sweden.The main questions I posed in this essay was prompted by the Swedish political scientist Bo Rothstein accusation of two feminist Swedish researchers, Yvonne Hirdman and Maud Eduards, of deliberately harassing men interested in feminist theory and striving to create women-only spaces at the different Centres for Women´s Studies and Gender Research around Sweden. This would according to Rothstein violate the Swedish goals of gender equality where equal representation is essential.However, the empirical material shows a benign attitude towards men doing feminism and the interviewed all stressed the importance of diversity among feminist scholars and students.As for the Swedish goals of gender equality, the interviewed expressed diverse and contradicatatory answers concerning how valid those goals should be to the Centres for Women´s Studies and Gender Research in Sweden.Contrasting the empirical material, my own argument in this essay circles around a critique of the validity of the Swedish goals of gender equality to the Centres for Women´s Studies and Gender Research in Sweden. Seeing men as a group with groupbased experiences, perspectives and interest puts the female dominance at the Centres for Women´s Studies and Gender Research in Sweden in another light, making the absence of men not a question of harassment but a question of male privilege to stay ignorant and indifferent of gender relations..

This master's thesis sets out to explore information literacy in a contextualized learning environment with emphasis on students at a vocationally oriented program in the Swedish upper secondary school. The concept of information literacy is widely discussed and furthermore a common subject for research within the field of Library and Information Science. Information literacy can be described as a set of skills or a range of attributes defining an information literate person. The skills and/or attributes facilitating the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills are often linked to knowledge about computers and libraries.Another view on the concept of information literacy has been developed by the Australian researcher Annemaree Lloyd. She stresses the importance of social and physical information sources and that these also should be included in the development of information literacy.

Syftet med denna studie har varit att studera hur gymnasieelever på yrkesförberedande-och studieförberedande program upplever sin lärmiljö. Upplevelserna kan i sin tur påverka lärandet. Med lärmiljö menas den plats där eleven befinner sig och skall lära sig något, i det här fallet lärmiljön i skolan. Studien genomfördes i form av en enkätundersökning om lärmiljö och lärande med slutna och öppna frågor. Enkäten delades upp i tre olika delar med fokus på lärmiljö.

Background: Infection with Human Papillomavirus, HPV, is one of the world's most common sexual transmitted infections. The virus causes genital warts (condyloma) but certain virus types can cause cancer. The most common cancer type caused by the virus is cancer of the cervix. Nowadays there is a screening program for women between 23 and 60 years of age where Pap smears of the cervix is taken to discover abnormalities at an early stage. Cervical cancer is very common all over the world and this screening program saves many lives, but not in the less developed countries since the screening program is too expensive.

Detta examensarbete belyser hur svenska skolor arbetar mot mobbning. Mobbning är ett stort problem som orsakar stor oro bland skolbarn. 1969 ville läkaren Peter-Paul Heinemann uppmärksamma mobbning då han upptäckte att många barn blev mobbade och att vuxna inte brydde sig. 1973 forskade psykologen Dan Olweus kring pojkars beteende kring mobbning. Detta var början till antimobbningsarbetet.Det finns ett flertal antimobbningsprogram och jag har valt att undersöka Friendsprogrammet och Olweusprogrammet.

Hälsofrämjande och förebyggande arbete rörande barn och elevers hälsa och utveckling berör en rad olika arenor i samhället, jag har i min studie valt att koncentrera mig på skolan och de förebyggande program som kan finnas där. Mitt syfte med studien var att belysa hur valet av dessa förebyggande program går till, vem beslutar att de ska användas och vem efterfrågar programmen. Jag har i en kommun genomfört kvalitativa intervjuer med aktörer på olika nivåer i skolsystemet, ordföranden i barn- och utbildningsnämnden, förvaltningschefer i skolnämnderna samt tre rektorer, alla med rätt och förmåga att fatta beslut i sin verksamhet. Att jag valde de olika nivåerna i skolsystemet beror på att skolan ofta ses som en generell institution istället för det mångfald av olika organisationer som den faktiskt är (Karlsen & Persson 2004). Jag har därför valt att i min studie utgå från Gunnar Bergs (2003) teoriSkolan som institution och skolor som organisationer samt ett struktur- och aktörsperspektiv som en grund för att belysa det i förhållande till mitt syfte.I kommunen där jag genomförde min studie så var användandet av ICDP (International Child Development Programmes) och SET (Social och Emotionell Träning) utbrett.

Den heta debatt som pågår om det individuella programmets vara eller inte vara var ännu ett skäl för mig att lyfta ämnet. Syftet med det här examensarbetet var att undersöka om det individuella programmet hade en större betydelse för eleverna som gick där än att bara läsa upp sina betyg. Jag ville även undersöka vad dessa elever hade för erfarenhet av sina tre år på högstadiet samt hur lärarna på det individuella programmet såg på sin lärarroll.

Syftet med denna undersökning är att ta reda på hur lärare i gymnasieskolan arbetar med fiktioner av olika slag och om arbetssätten skiljer sig åt beroende på om undervisningen sker i ett yrkesförberedande program eller ett högskoleförberedande program. Fyra verksamma lärare intervjuades utifrån en halvstrukturerad intervjuguide. Resultatet visar att lärarna har frångått de gamla traditionella arbetssätten där man ofta arbetade i kronologisk ordning och där eleverna fick skriva recensioner. Idag läggs fokus på att hitta teman, koppla fiktioner till samhällets utveckling och elevernas egna liv och erfarenheter samt att analysera fiktioner via gruppdiskussioner alternativt helklassdiskussioner. Filmens roll i skolan har fått högre status och filmens språk har tagit plats i undervisningen.

Examensarbetets huvudsakliga syfte var att ta fram en metodik och en manual för hur tester kan genomföras på ett program som arbetar mot en databas. Manualen innehåller exempel på hur verktyg används, hur data skall tolkas, olika problem som kan uppstå med mera. Med metodikens hjälp skall användaren kunna hitta de delar av programmet som kan förbättras med hänseende på prestanda. Manualen skall vara så pass lättanvänd att den skall kunna användas av någon som inte har alltför djupa kunskaper inom databaser eller mjukvaruutveckling. The aim of the study was to examine if and how the social service and the social welfare secretary provides against threat and violence in the encounter with clients. The study is qualitative and carried out with six semi-structured interviews with social welfare secretaries and participation observations at the social welfare offices in three municipalities. The theoretical starting points used were symbolic interactionism and strange loops. The result shows that social service and social welfare secretaries both use measures to prevent threat and violence to occur. The precautionary measures mainly used by social services are ; looked doors, alarm device, loose objects removes and interview rooms are furnish in purpose for the social welfare secretary to flee the room at urgent need.

This paper is written to take a close look at teaching methods used at the Summer Academy (SHS), which is held at Södertörns Högskola in Stockholm. SHS is a subdivision of the institution of teaching education, which annually, during summertime, offers an eight-day program for pupils between 13-15 years of age, from different schools located in socio-economically disadvantaged suburbs of Stockholm. The intention of SHS is to give the participating pupils an insight into higher education, especially that of university. The purpose of the activities, such as field trips, guided tours and corporate visits, is to make pupils aware of their own responsibility for their educational situation through different methods of knowledge transfer, to diversify the means of the education, and to bring awareness to the array of possibilities which they have access to within the Swedish system of tertiary education.The study is based on six deep-interviews, three with pupils and three with student mentors. Together with 131 surveys from the course given during the summer of 2014, and theories of John Dewey on ?Learning-by-doing?, the results show that pupils participation in SHS give them a better understanding for, and knowledge about their own educational responsibility.Another question this paper seeks to address is how significantly the SHS program is changing the pupil?s experience of education in general and their view upon higher education specifically.
