The aim of this study is to investigate differences that exist in Estonia and Russia with regard to civil society, democracy and corruption and try to find out what can be possible causes to the vast differences in these two countries. Many political scientists claim that civil society plays a key role in democratic transitions. This paper takes its point of departure in 1991, when the Soviet Union collapsed and Estonia and Russia became independent. Since then Estonia has had a flourishing economy which attract many foreign investments, with Sweden as the greatest investor. The country has also managed well to adjust quickly from totalitarianism to democracy.

Type 2 diabetes is a growing disease in the population which includes that older people are a risk group. With the disease grows even cost?s. A lifestyle change is a major part of the treatment for type 2 diabetes. There are several factors that suggest positive effects on prevention among the elderly where, among other things, economic and health benefits are presented.

Studien har syftat till att undersöka samband mellan samsjuklig psykologisk problematik och katastroftänkande hos ungdomar utifrån ett transdiagnostiskt perspektiv. Katastroftänkandets roll för förändring av social ångest och depressiva symtom undersöktes utifrån en studie av internetbaserad KBT-behandling mot social fobi (N=18).  Resultatet indikerar att ungdomar med hög initial nivå av katastroftänkande har större reduktion av depressiva symtom än ungdomar med låg nivå av katastroftänkande. Detta talar för att hänsyn bör tas till grad av katastroftänkande vid utformning av behandling för personer med social fobi, särskilt vid samsjuklighet med depression. Kopplingen mellan katastroftänkande och samsjuklighet undersöktes utifrån en tvärsnittsstudie av gymnasieungdomar (N=713).  Resultatet visar på en koppling mellan katastroftänkande och social rädsla, sömnproblematik och nedstämdhet..

Ill health takes different expressions during different periods in life and habits during the early years affect the health during the rest of the lifetime. Bronfenbrenners ecological systems theory has been used as a theoretical starting point in this cross-sectional study. The aim of this study was to identify differences in self-rated health and health-related factors between boys and girls and between the compulsory school and the upper secondary school in Sundbyberg municipality as a basis for the planned activity in the Young Women?s shelter in Sundbyberg, as well as in other municipalities A questionnaire consisting of 24 questions based on different variables has identified disparities in health and health-related factors between boys and girls in Sundbyberg municipality (n=323). This paper found pronounced differences between the sexes in terms of sex and relationships, security, emotional support and psychosomatic complaints.

The aim of this study is to through six interviews, with six experienced, social workers?, in three cities, understand how the child?s position in the Swedish child protective services? enquiries has change, and the factors behind it. In an international perspective the Russian children s library is a unique institution, being solely committed to children up to 14 years of age. In Russia of today it is, however, being exposed to hard pressure as the economical and social conditions have changed dramatically since the collapse of the USSR. My interest lies in examining this change of living conditions for the children s libraries and how this in turn affect their work and role in the present state. In order to view this change in a longer perspective, I compare the situation for children s libraries during the time of communist regime with that of today using documents about and from children s libraries. I have studied its legal position and conditions, financial and political state, and how the modern society affects children and youth, especially their daily cultural life.

I have chosen in my study, to do a comparison between pupils´ expectations of the future, how they would meet adult life or working life after their education. These pupils are ending their programmes during this term. One program is Business and Administration Programme and the other programme is Qualified Vocational Education in Business, which is a post-secondary education and training programme. This investigation is done in Haninge municipality.The purpose of this study has been to investigate if these students´ expectations differ between each other, compared with factors such as age, sex, ethnical origin and different study programmes. Further it has been interested to see how teachers and future employer meet these pupils´ expectations in education or in their planning working life.There have been two other important questions to investigate in this study.

This is a qualitative study with a hermeneutic and partially inductive approach. The study?s purpose is to enhance the understanding of young adults experiences of unemployment and the importance of being employed. In this study, eight young adults participate in the project Framtid Kronoberg. The youths are 19-25 years of age.

Research shows that unemployed´s motivation to seek work affects their health and Social life. Employment officer?s motivational work should be based on strengthening the individual's confidence in their abilities. Five motivational theories underpinning the study is Cognitive Theory, Self-determination theory, Expectancy Value Theory, need theory and Goal Theory. The purpose of this study was to investigate individuals' job motivation, and emotional experiences, also in relation to contact with the employment officer.

The primary purpose of this essay is to study and describe what student?s self experiences of the media coverage of social work. The theoretical perspectives applied to analyse the empirical data are social constructionism, roles, and construction. The method of this study is qualitative and based on ten personal interviews. The material has been analysed by condensed meaning units and three themes have been used, the media coverage of social work, the relationship between social workers and media and the influence media coverage has on the students.The results given from these interviews show that the majority of the interviewed group considers the media coverage of social work as negative.

The society of suburbs is frequently discussed in media, which often focus on the problems related to these areas. The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to examine how Swedish contemporary youth literature may contribute to create, strengthen and articulate social representations of the society of suburbs. The analysis is based upon six youth novels published during 2003 to 2007. The theoretical framework consists of two parts and is based on Anthony Giddens? theories about late modern society in which the youth novels in our study take place, and those living conditions that this society creates.

This essay aims to investigate the perceptions of responsible personnel in a primary school about the use and importance of EQ, emotional intelligence, in the school's early years. With a hermeneutic approach and by qualitative interviews, we have taken note of the respondents perceptions about EQ. The result shows that EQ can be understood in different ways. Instead of having a common understanding of what EQ is the respondents mention that there are different areas associated with EQ.  Two major results are 1.
