Integration policies have failed to make diversity into anything more than occupying the same physical space. People of different cultural background still do not share their lives to any real extent. Attempts made within planning and landscape architecture to catalyst the integration process have mainly been focused on structural measures, such as residential policies. As for outdoor environments, non-verbal casual encounters in the shape of crossing paths are assumed to lie at the heart of urban social integration.The aim of the thesis is to question this assumption and, as the thesis will show, there is literature supporting this aim. Looking at the works of Gordon Allport, Lewis Coser and some of their followers, I find intercultural contact to require more complex ways of interaction in order to reduce prejudice and to generate tolerance and understanding.

Den här uppsatsen syftar till att ta reda på om det finns något samband mellan social kompetens och stress. I uppsatsen presenteras vad social kompetens är och vad stress är. Sambandet har undersökts med hjälp av enkät med 16 slutna frågor, 8 som handlar om social kompetens och 8 som handlar om stress och en öppen fråga på slutet. Urvalet, som var ett bekvämlighetsurval, var 60 anställda på olika arbetsplatser i Karlskrona, av dem erhölls 52 svar. Med hjälp av en Pearsonkorrelation och en fenomenologisk analys visade det sig att det finns ett samband mellan social kompetens och stress.

The aim of this essay was to examine what kind of help and support social services departement can offer gamblers and their relatives. We also want to examine what the relatives to the gamblers think about the help and support they have got from the social services departement. Central questions we asked were: What kind of help and support can social services department offer the gamblers and there relatives? What kind of help is there to get for children respectively adult relatives? Do the relatives consider that the social worker have enough knowledge about the problem? Do the social workers consider that they have enough knowledge about the problem? This is a qualitative study of three women relatives to the gamblers, three social workers and one specialist in this problem. We have delimited the study to one big city in Sweden.

The problem with keeping horses with to little social contact has come to attention in a new regulation that comes into effect august 1st 2009. It states that horses? need of social contact has to be accommodated. That?s why it feels important to try to survey the horse owners? awareness about the regulation and its present fulfillment.

The purpose of this study is to use a qualitative approach to get an understanding of what is expected of social workers targeted towards women managers in social services. Nine social workers were interviewed. The empirical data was then analyzed on the basis of gender theory. Respondents did not see their supervisor as a manager but more as a social worker with special tasks. Our empirical data indicates that there is a strong belief that men and women possess different properties.

The focus of this research is to investigate how the client's emotions can affect the social worker and how the social worker manages these feelings in order to make the right decisions. We have used a qualitative approach in our investigation. We have interviewed six social workers at social welfare bureaux in southern Sweden. Our theories are ?Nai?ve Theory? and ?Affect Theory?.

The purpose of this study was to examine how social work professionals view their professional role and how they think about the concept of social work. I also wanted to investigate what they believe characterize a professional social work. For the purposes of this study, I chose a qualitative approach in which I interviewed five people linked to the social work. The theories which I have assumed in the analysis of the results are power theory, organization theory and professional theory. The results of this study show that the respondents believe that a professional social work is performed by someone who has training and experience in the field.

Social sustainability is often regarded as a solution to social problems in general. In this study, on the contrary, social sustainability is conceived as a socially constructed concept and the result of a certain way of looking at the world, the human being and the ideal society. The study centers around Kinda municipality in the southern region of Östergötland and a few of its elder inhabitants. What meaning and substance social sustainability is contained with as well as the effects that are produced by these conceptualizations is explored and analyzed. Also, the study examines the encounter between political policy?s and judgments on the one hand and the experiences and preferences held by the municipality?s elder inhabitants on the other..

Vi har i vårt arbete försökt belysa hur ungdomarna i Umeå uppfattar polisen. Vi har även försökt få en inblick i hur ordningsavdelningen vid polisen i Umeå i dagsläget arbetar för att skapa god kontakt med ungdomar. I det här arbetet har vi även tittat på olika teorier om varför vissa begår brott och vilka orsaker som kan ligga till grund för detta. Anledningen till att vissa begår brott kan b l a bero på brister i de sociala banden till det konventionella samhället. Genom att polisen tillsammans med andra aktörer kommer närmare ungdomarna kan de lättare påverka ungdomarna.

Syfte med examensarbetet är att få kunskap om och förståelse för barns upplevelser ochkontakt med sina frihetsberövade föräldrar, samt hur samverkan sker mellan kriminalvårdenoch frivilliga organisationer för att främja kontakten. Våra frågeställningar är hur barnupplever att ha frihetsberövade föräldrar, hur barns kontakt sker med frihetsberövade föräldrarsamt hur samverkan sker mellan frivilliga organisationer och kriminalvården för att främjakontakten mellan barn och deras frihetsberövade föräldrar. Vår metod i studien är kvalitativdå vi gjort en litteraturgenomgång och kompletterat med en mindre intervjustudie via telefonsamt tagit del av information från kriminalvården via e-post. Vår teoretiska utgångspunkt föratt analysera studiens resultat är samverkansteori. Vårt resultat pekar på att det finnssamverkan mellan frivilliga organisationer och kriminalvården i syfte att främja barns kontaktmed frihetsberövade föräldrar i liten skala.

Ett examensarbete som undersöker relationen mellan social stigmatisering och hjälpmedelsformgivning, med en vision om att ta fram en funktionell kryckkäpp anpassad för lågtidsanvändning där formen och det visuella uttrycket inte uppfattas som ett handikapp.Genom analys av standardkryckan från Swereco, intervjuer med sjukgymnaster, hjälpmedelsansvariga och långtidsanvändare av kryckkäppar lades en grund för formgivningsarbetet. Materialet och tillverkningsmetoden hos ett företag som heter Fiberforge tillåter en inbyggd svikt i handtaget, vilket i sin tur förhoppningsvis kan vara ett steg i ledet att minska risken för nervskadan "ulnar nerve compression" som lätt uppstår mellan tumme och pekfinger..

The purpose of this study was to enlighten the views of male social work students on; the social work profession, social work status and their career options. Also, the study aimed at getting these students angles of approach on the fact that they, being men, are a minority group within the profession of social work. Some of the main questions were: Why does not social work as a profession seem to attract men? What about the status of the profession of social work? What were the thoughts of male social work students about this? What advantages or disadvantages did they recognise, being a minority in the profession? The method used in this study was doing separate interviews. All of the interviewed students were convinced that they had a better chance of getting a job.

In Sweden the social assistance from a historical perspective, has been a part of the social legislation, since the 18th century. In that time called poor relief. Through the centuries this has established the social assistance we have today. With focus on the child, we have attempted to illustrate how the social workers consider the child perspective when they are dealing with the social assistance. We wanted to get a view of how the social worker reasons about needs the children have and how they can see that the benefit has been provided for.

The aim of this study was to enlighten social workers experiences of social networks direct influence in Swedish social services, and in which ways those influences are manifested. Some of the issues that are being explored in this study are: The separation of the private sphere and professional duties; boundaries and dual relationships that occurs inside social networks; the use of social networks as a control-instrument in authority exercise towards clients; and social networks arising impact on social work. The empirical material was collected with nine qualitative interviews with social workers stationed at different social service departments in a Swedish municipality. Also one qualitative e-survey was sent out to, and answered by four social workers with a managerial position in the same municipality.The results reveal that several informants have experienced different problematic situations involving clients within the social networks. This study shows that the informants are very restrictive with what information (text and pictures) they publish on their facebook-profiles, because of their position of authority and the awareness of the possibility of always being watched.
