Bakgrund: Avståndet mellan länder har försvunnit och världen har blivit mer homogen i och med globaliseringen. Många studier och praktiska exempel visar på att det fortfarande finns betydande skillnader i sättet att göra affärer, liksom i sättet att leda och organisera verksamhet i olika länder. Företag konfronteras därmed med många viktiga frågor i samband med ett internationaliseringsbeslut. Marknadsinformation spelar en central roll för företags utlandsetablering då kunskap om kunder, konkurrenter, intressenter samt om den institutionella och kulturella miljön ger företag starka konkurrensfördelar på marknaden. Allt fler företag inser vikten av att bevaka och analysera förändringar i omvärlden för att kunna ta väl underbyggda beslut under internationalisering.

This essay examine how temporal claims (past, present and future) are used in two Official Government Reports (SOU) in Sweden considering rape and sexual assault. The Official Government Reports constitute an important and particular system for long-term planning, and the reports are used as an instrument to achieve desirable changes within the nation. The temporal pretensions in SOU 1976:9 Sexual offences: proposed new wording of Penal provisions against virtue, and SOU 1982:61 Rape and other sexual assaults, are analyzed in relation to the concepts realization of the possible and actualization of the virtual, in order to see how the concepts correspond to the process of desirable change in the reports. The temporal claims are used in a spatially sense where space is assimilated to the concept of time which in return create notions of spatio-temporal images of the past, the present and the future. This is partly a problem for the reports in their aspiration to transform old norms and create innovatory values and ideals..

This thesis gives suggestions as to how to design a wooden-based wave-power buoy. The thesiswas carried out at Uppsala University in collaboration with the Division of Electricity and AppliedMechanical Engineering. The product was conceived and developed taking into consideration anumber of requirements put forward by the supervisor, Magnus Rahm. The most importantdemands were that the material used should be able to withstand pressure from the sea withoutbeing damaged and that the production costs should be low.Department of Engineering Sciences, Division of Electricity at Uppsala University was visitedseveral times to discuss issues including the various ideas with the supervisor Magnus Rahm, andwith several people in the department.The work started by studying available literature in order to get background information aboutsuitable methods available for the project and to see how similar projects were carried out. Thereason for this was to get a better understanding of this particular problem and how to solve it.After consulting the supervisor, the group decided to construct four different buoys using fourdifferent materials.

Denna uppsats syftar till att, utifrån kunskaper om det offentliga rummet och människors användning av det, ge idéförslag till utformning av en busshållplats vid Stadshuset i centrala Uppsala. Meningen är att designen ska stimulera till fler upplevelser i människors vardag. Med upplevelser menar vi bland annat möten mellan människor samt sinnesstimulans som bidrar till återhämtning och aktivering. Eftersom människor naturligt måste uppehålla sig här, ser vi en stor potential i att busshållplatser genom attraktiv design kan erbjuda mer än att vara en väntplats mellan två destinationer. För att ta reda på vilka faktorer som påverkar människans upplevelse av omgivningen gjordes en litteraturstudie. Vi använde oss av boken Svensk Miljöpsykologi samt Jan Gehls och Jane Jacobs teorier om hur människor använder det offentliga rummet. För att förankra denna kunskap till vår busshållplats valde vi att observera människors beteenden på platsen.

AbstractThis is a story about the Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme and his struggle against USA´s war in Vietnam in the late 60´s and the early 70´s. We follow the young Palme from his childhood to his travels to America and Asia, there he learns what true poverty means. Further we see Palme change side from his conservative background to a new social idealist. In Prag he learns to truly mistrust communism, an ideology he later in life paradoxical will be accused to stand for. Palme´s politic interests seems to take a great step forward when he starts to write articles in the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, there he?s writings take more and more colour from Palme´s own politic stands.

The aim of this thesis is to clarify the affect that preferential and regional trade agreements have on the World Trade Organization (WTO), as being establisher of the international trading regime. The essay is an explanatory literature study, which strives to answer the following questions:Are regional and preferential trade agreements a threat or a complement to the WTO?Is an undermining of the MFN principle weakening the WTO?How do regional trade agreements made by the EU affect the future of the WTO?The empirical material is to be analyzed using an explanatory framework, which is based on neo-liberal instutionalism, theories on regime changes and a game theoretical approach, using prisoner?s dilemma. I will employ the EU-ACP relation, the Cotonou agreement to exemplify how an agreement of this kind can have an influence on multilateral trade. The result shows that preferential agreements do have an impact on the WTO, one that is fairly negative in scope.

Sweden experienced a decline in exports of 16 percent in the period after the financial crisis. The decline has created a lot of question marks regarding the traditional exports which has started a process with the aim of finding Sweden?s next cash cow in export.Sweden adopted stringent environmental laws early which positioned them as a strong nation in environmental awareness. The stringent environmental legislation meant that the Swedish companies were required to minimize the environmental impact, which created a demand for eco-efficient products. Despite the early demand for eco-efficient products, the international success of the Swedish cleantech companies has been modest.The government can increase firms international competitiveness by encouraging, supporting and promoting activities on the domestic market.

The amount of cargo has since the 1970s increased in Sweden and the road traffic accounts for a large part of the transported volume. In Stockholm County the amount of cargo is calculated to be doubled in size from year 2001 to 2020 which means a greater need for transport is required. Much of these transports are being carried out by haulage companies of varying sizes which acts externally as carriers for their customers. All of this despite a greater awareness, laws and demands regarding environmental performance.The trend shows that the haulage industry in Sweden are moving towards fewer but larger haulage companies, which means that the competition is getting tougher for the smaller haulage companies. Smaller haulage companies and research about their competitive strategies is a neglected part of this industry.

Syfte: Att undersöka hur nöjda patienter 75 år och äldre är med vården som bedrivs på akutmottagningen på Akademiska sjukhuset i Uppsala avseende väntetid, miljö, kompetens, förtroende, tillgänglighet, bemötande, information, kommunikation och smärtlindring.Metod: Deskriptiv tvärsnittstudie. 38 patienter 75 år och äldre som besökt Akademiska sjukhusets akutmottagning svarade på en enkät avseende hur nöjda de var med sitt besök.Resultat: Patienter 75 år och äldre var i stort mycket nöjda över vården som bedrivs på Akademiska sjukhusets akutmottagning. Patienterna var minst nöjda över väntetiden som ibland ansågs vara för lång i relation till deras besvär. Ingen skillnad gick att utläsa mellan hur nöjda män och kvinnor var med vården avseende väntetid, miljö, kompetens, förtroende, tillgänglighet, bemötande, information, kommunikation och smärtlindring. Någon skillnad gick inte heller att utläsa mellan hur nöjda patienterna var med vården och vilken typ av besvär; medicinskt, kirurgiskt eller ortopediskt som patienten hade sökt för.Slutsats: Studien visar att de patienter 75 år och äldre som besvarade enkäten i stort är mycket nöjda med vården som bedrivs på Akademiska sjukhusets akutmottagning avseende väntetid, miljö, kompetens, förtroende, tillgänglighet, bemötande, information, kommunikation och smärtlindring.

AbstractAim: The aim of this study was to describe cancer patients? experiences of quality of life and wellbeing in relation to yoga practice.Method: A descriptive qualitative study with semi structured interviews was carried out during the fall of 2009 at the University of Uppsala. Informants in the study were cancer patients who were participating in the yoga/psychotherapy group at the clinic of oncology at the Akademiska hospital in Uppsala.Result: Five out of six informants experienced that their quality of life and their wellbeing improved by practicing yoga. One informant had mixed feelings which were not due to the yoga practicing, but to the place where it was practiced. For her this place was associated with illness.

This article starts with a review of the literature regarding the normal reproductive physiology of the mare, normal luteolysis, different causes of prolonged luteal phase and theories behind these. The article also presents a study where it was examined if treatment with human choriongonadotropic hormone (hCG) during the luteal phase induces prolonged luteal phase in mares, thus preventing estrus. The study consisted of two parts: one intensive study of eight mares at the former Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at SLU, Uppsala, Sweden and one field study of seven mares at a stud farm 70 km north of Uppsala. The mares in the intensive study were divided in two groups: one with four mares that were injected with hCG in luteal phase when they had a follicle of minimum 30 mm and a second group with four mares that were injected with sodium chloride at the same time. These mares were examined with ultrasonography and blood samples.

Att kunna nå ut med sitt budskap och att budskapet uppfattas på rätt sätt blir allt viktigare inom marknadsföringen i vissa branscher i och med den ökande konkurrensen mellan företag och då företag försöker differentiera sig gentemot konkurrenterna. Det är viktigt för vissa företag att redan under studenternas studietid försöka förmedla sina budskap, som studenter sedan kan ta med sig ut i arbetslivet då de exempelvis ska söka arbete eller då de kanske kommer att inneha beslutsfattande positioner i olika företag.Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka kommunikationen som två valda företag, KPMG och Lindebergs Grant Thornton, använder sig av för att marknadsföra sig som potentiella arbetsgivare till ekonomistudenter i Uppsala. Uppsatsen undersöker hur väl företagen förmedlar sina budskap samt hur budskapet tas emot av målgruppen, det vill säga studenterna. Utgångspunkten är dock studenternas uppfattning av viktiga budskap, detta jämförs sedan med skickade budskap. Om diskrepans mellan förmedlat budskap och uppfattat budskap föreligger kommer en diskussion att föras om vad detta kan bero på.

The artist Pehr Hilleström has been credited as the founder of the Swedish genre painting. In the second half of the 18th century he began painting everyday subjects of the different social stratums. Today his paintings are noted for their way of showing us the culture of the time since the photograph still had still not been introduced.   Hilleström was a court painter for King Gustav III who wanted him to depict the Swedish people and their different costumes. The king thought the costumes were of great significance for their psychological impact on people and therefore used them as a way to unite the nation psychologically, both by the genre paintings and also by making a national costume. The costumes were used as a symbol of an unbroken tradition and national heritage.
