Studien syftar undersöka vad individer, från län där statistik visar färre som väljer studier på högre nivå än övriga län, anser vara meningsfullt för deras val att studera läkare vid Uppsala Universitet samt eventuella gemensamma nämnare. Kvalitativa intervjuer har genomförts med nio läkarstudenter vid Uppsala Universitet. Detta har analyserats med Pierre Bourdieus teori och begrepp. Fenomenologi och hermeneutik har använts för att förstå det meningsfulla för respondenterna. Motivation, engagemang och uppmuntran från omgivningen har varit viktigt för att respondenterna studerar till läkare.

Denna uppsats har studerat sex gymnasieskolor i Uppsalas hemsidor med syfte attundersöka och jämföra gymnasieskolors strategier i konkurrensen om elever i Uppsalagenom att analysera relationen mellan deras marknadsföring via hemsidor och deraspositioner i elevrekryteringens sociala struktur som tidigare studier visat på. Denteoretiska utgångspunkten utgår från utbildningssociologen Bourdieus begreppsarsenaldär begreppet strategi har varit det mest centrala begreppet. Studien har studerathemsidorna genom en kritisk diskursanalys och gymnasieskolorna har både varit friskoloroch kommunala skolor. Skolorna valdes genom Emil Bertilssons (2014) sociala kartaöver elevrekryteringen i Uppsala. Skolorna studerades utifrån hur de beskrev sinutbildning, lärare, elever, tidigare elever, samarbetas aktörer, geografiska läget,användandet av medium och slogan.

North Korea has been on people?s minds lately. This essay is a study of what image Swedish press gave of North Korea starting in 1948 and ending in 2011. The study looks at two of the largest newspapers in Sweden, Aftonbladet and Dagens Nyheter.  During the 1950´s the image given was that North Korea was part of the communists, a puppet state of the Soviet Union.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur olika potentiellt skadliga faktorer påverkar nyetablerade stadsträd. För att göra detta utvecklas en metod för inventering av träd och ståndort, som sedan appliceras på ett urval på 94 stadsträd fördelade på 11 anläggningar i Uppsala och Stockholm. Faktorerna som framkom som resultatet av studien jämförs med skadliga och gynnsamma faktorer enligt uppgifter från trädexperter och litteratur. Uppsatsen inleds med en beskrivning av stadsträds situation idag och historiskt, samt nuvarande kunskapsläge. Därefter följer ett metodkapitel som beskriver metodutvecklingen. Metoden bygger på inventering och analys av ett antal punkter. Exempelvis behandlas vilken information stamomfång kan ge och hur det inventerats under rubriken Stamomfång.

This project operate an environmental assessment of total waste was conducted by using a life cycle assessment (LCA), that examines the environmental benefits of recycling production waste from Atlas Copco at Stena recycling. Atlas Copco is a company engaged in the development and production of rig-mounted hydraulic breakers and handheld air breakers and handheld motorized rotisserie. Stena recycling is a recycling company engaged in recycling, processing and refining of metals, paper, electronics waste and hazardous waste.The purpose of this study is to focus on Stena customer Atlas Copco and evaluate environmental benefits between to recycle and not to do it. The result shows that the total energy gain, resulting from the recycling of waste fractions, lands at 6 990 089 MJ, corresponding to drive 3 times around the Equator with a truck (40 t). The result shows that recycling 3040 kg paper provides an energy gain of (38 600 MJ) compared with burning paper (19 500 MJ) is 19 100 MJ, which corresponds to heat a house for 11 weeks.

The division of Electricity at Uppsala University runs a project called Lysekil project, they have designed a buoy that uses the waves to create electric power from a generator attached to the bottom of the sea.Uppsala University is closely connected with the company Seabased and the university makes use of their facilities in Lysekil. When they designed the buoy issues occurred, the geometric design was flawed, brackets with a short shelf life and it is generally uneconomic.A study visit was done in Lysekil on Seabased facility. With this visit the project started, which is to improve the design of the buoy and the attachment of wires leading to the generator. In this project we have chosen to use a beam system with three beams that are attached to the buoy. Then a wire attached to a plate that sits between the beams will be leading to the generator. Two proposals for construction are created, what distinguishes them are the brackets between the beams and the buoy.From these constructions, the design that is considered most optimal for our project is chosen.All parts of the buoy have been modeled and the drawings are designed in ProEngineer software.The two constructions are compared with each other, but the whole focus is on the second and final structure. The report begins with an introduction describing Lysekil project, and a task description of our project.The project aims to produce an optimal buoy that will be easy to design, materials restrictive with good durability and an economical solution.Wave power true function has been studied, mechanical and finite element analysis of beams, buoy and plate design.This has been presented in this report, where in the various chapters can read more about the processes. En bostadsgård är ett viktigt uterum för de som bor i lägenhet. Saknar man en egen trädgård kan bostadsgården bidra med kvalitéer som är svåra att uppnå någon annanstans. Frisk luft, växlighet och rekreation nära bostaden är värdefullt för många människor. Trots detta är bostadsgårdar ofta nedprioriterade och eftersatta. I min undersökning har jag funnit att i studentområden så finns det inga undersökningar om vad studenter vill använda sin bostadsgård till.

 The aim of this essay is, by using tree conductive Swedish newspapers, see how thesubmarine violations that Sweden suffered during 1980s, was depicted in the Swedish press in terms of threats. Two major submarine violations will be investigated in this paper, U137-incident in Karlskrona archipelago in 1981 and Hårsfjärden-incident in Stockholm archipelago in 1982. To achieve the purpose, I use a qualitativ method and a threatperspective to answer my questions. These questions are for instance- From which nation, according to press reports, comes the threat?- What is, according to the press, threatened?The results show that the press saw the submarine violations as a major and serious threat that mainly come from Soviet Union.

Det lägre priset hos Internetbutikerna har gjort att konkurrensen mellan den vanliga bokhandeln och Internet har blivit allt hårdare. Detta har framför allt drabbat bokhandlare som tillhandahåller kurslitteratur. Det främsta skälet till detta är studenters generellt sett dåliga ekonomi.

A decision has been made that the Swedish and the Finnish Navy will expand their cooperation by creating the ?Swedish-Finnish Naval Task Group? (SFNTG).Based on Michael Codner?s theory of interoperability, this essay?s aim is to investigate if the Swedish and the Finnish currently are interoperable with each other, due to their military strategic concepts.According to Codner, similarities between the cooperating nation?s military strategic concepts are required in order to reach a high degree of interoperability. This essay will analyze and compare Sweden and Finland?s military strategic concepts, based on three categories; Global Projection, Territorial Defence and Combat Capability.The conclusion is that there are differences between the Swedish and the Finnish military strategic concepts in every category, of varying degrees. By looking at the results of this investigation, it is clear in what direction the two nations have to adapt their concepts to enable a high degree of interoperability for the future of the SFNTG..

The aim of this report was to do a case study at a geothermal heating system which has been in operation for about 5 years, and study if its performance has changed during this period of time. A literature study about the processes involved was also done in purpose of background knowledge.The tenant-owner?s association Duvan at Petterslundsgatan in Uppsala installed year 1999-2000 a geothermal heating system. The purpose of this installation was that they hoped it would lead to a smaller usage of district heating which would lead to a reduction of the heating expenses for their buildings. The geothermal heating system consists of 19 energy wells and 4 geothermal heat pumps, and it is one of the first systems of that size in the region of Uppsala.

With the end of the cold war as a major revolution in matters of international security, a major overhaul has taken place to transform the static total defense plan of the nation to a less rigid operational system.Following an analysis of the budgets total amount from the governments of 2002 until 2015 it is clear that while the amount of resources has never directly been lowered, it has shrunk in relation to the countries total GDP. The possible futures for the defense of Sweden bring three possibilities forward in correlation three unique perspectives on military and political policy.Out of the three possibilities the focus on military strength as a political resource seems to be garnering the most support with the latest incursions made my foreign submersibles and the ever growing presence of 5th generation of warfare.

Tidigare har det framförallt varit företag som IKEA, Ericsson och Volvo som expanderat utomlands och branscher såsom musik, telekommunikation och skogsindustri som stått för exporten men idag väljer även många svenska modeföretag att expandera sin verksamhet utomlands. När ett företag etablerar sig på andra marknader ställs det inför andra förutsättningar, exempelvis; kulturella olikheter, skilda konsumtionsmönster och preferenser. Därmed tvingas företagen att ta ställning till i vilken utsträckning de skall anpassa sin marknadsföring efter varje lands specifika villkor. Syftet med undersökningen har varit att undersöka hur och varför svenska modeföretag expanderar internationellt, och vidare hur det i så fall påverkar deras image och identitet. Vi har funnit att företagen tillämpar samma strategier som i Sverige även på marknader som skiljer sig från den svenska.

Uppsala County has ambitious environmental aims for the planned residential area inÖstra Sala backe. In this thesis different energy sources have been evaluated todetermine which system that would be most favorable given currently availableinformation about the project. Planned energy usage has been divided into tap waterheating, space heating and power. Three base case scenarios were made with districtheating, small scale bio fuel and heat pump. Solar power and solar heating were thensimulated and the production from the two could individually be deducted from theenergy need in the base cases, constituting 9 different scenarios.
