Mer än bara en leksak : En kvalitativ studie om surfplattan som ett verktyg för att stödja barns språkutveckling och sociala samspel

The purpose with the examination is to examine a preschool head and three teachers experiences and opinions of whether the tablet can be used to support childrens linguistic development and social interactions in preschool. To answer the purpose we will use these questions of issue:What is the purpose with tablets and how are they used in preschool activity?What pros and cons do the teachers see with tablets?How do the teachers resonate about the use of tablets to develop childrens language skill and social interactions?What type of social interaction occurs when children use the tablet?We have used interviews and observations as our methods. We interviewed three teachers and one preschool head in the capital city of Sweden. They all have a positive attitude towards the use of tablets in preschool.

Lärare och digitala verktyg i matematikundervisningen : En kvantitativ studie om lärares inställning och kompetens kring användningen av digitala verktyg i årskurserna F-3

The purpose of this study is to examine in what extent primary school teachers, teaching children in the age of 6 to 9, choose to use digital tools in their teaching of mathematics. I also want to examine what these teachers think, in terms of advantages and disadvantages, about using digital tools on their mathematics lessons. Finally I want to examine what skills they possess about digital tools.I am using a quantitative method to collect my data. The quantitative survey consisted of a questionnaire survey of ten questions that 38 primary school teachers have answered.The results of my study show that the teachers to some extent use digital tools when they teach mathematics and that the availability of various digital tools are generally good. But it turns out that the availability of tools is not a guarantee that they are used in teaching of mathematics.

Pilotstudie av användningen av Tablet PC som mobil enhet inom vården

Allt större och större andel företag väljer att presentera och förmedla varor och tjänster via e-handel. En viktig aspekt vid e-handel är att kunden känner förtroende för e-handelsapplikationen och företaget. Denna rapport redogör för vilken inverkan multimediala inslag har för förtroendet av en e-handelsapplikation, vid initialt användande. En undersökning har genomförts med hjälp av en kooperativ utvärdering av fyra e-handelsapplikationer vilka innehåller olika typer av multimediala inslag har.Resultatet av undersökningen visar att multimediala inslag inverkar positivt på förtroendet för e-handelsapplikationer. Däremot finns indikationer på att för hög grad av multimedialt inslag inverkar negativt på förtroendet för e-handelsapplikationer..

Webbdesign och användbarhet för tablets : Designmönster och konventioner för ökad kompabilitet mot tablets.

Undersöknings syfte var att närmare ta reda på hur ett grafiskt gränssnitt för en och samma webbplats lämpligt kan anpassas för att ge en likvärdigt god användarupplevelse oberoende användaren använder sig av en vanlig dator eller en tablet.För att undersöka problemlösande designmönster prövades en teorisyntes baserad på befästa användbarhetsläror, så som metoder för visibility, affordance, mapping, begränsningar och feedback samt tekniker för grafisk gränssnittsdesign och navigation mot en fallstudie.Fallstudien utgjorde en del av ett större projekt, att ta fram ett koncept för en webbplats avseende ett arkitekturmagasin, att vara kompatibel med såväl en desktop som en tablet avseende möjligheten att med gott resultat ta del av samma tjänstekoncept oberoende plattform.Fallstudien gjordes i flera steg genom att först skapa ett passande tjänstekoncept avseende webbplatsens syfte, för att sedan i iterationer skapa ett interaktions- och ett grafiskt ramverk. Under produktionen togs framför all två saker i beaktande; inputmöjligheter både för desktop med mus och tablet med hand eller finger samt konceptuell modeller vad gällande navigation från både tablet och desktopbruk. Iterationerna avslutades med användartester där fyra personer fick prova de framkomna koncepten.Resultatet och analysen av fallstudien pekar på att det finns riktlinjer vilka en designer kan och eventuellt bör följa för att få ett lyckat resultat.Bland dessa riktlinjer är finkänsligheten gällande input den klara skillnaden mellan en desktop med en mus och en tablet med pekskärm. Därför bör alla interaktiva objekt alltid utformas och placeras så att de är lätta att aktivera oberoende metod för input.För ökad läsbarhet bör inte för liten text användas och dessutom tillkommer avvägning för navigation där det är viktigt att inte fastna i gamla webbdesignkonventioner med djupa hierarkier, utan i stället sträva mot en informationsarkitektur som möjliggör för enkel översikt och navigering.Analysen visar även på att överdådig grafik bör undvikas för att inte försätta användaren i en situation där den behöver fundera över hur den ska göra något snarare än vad..

"Got Skills...?" : En kvalitativ studie om kompetensutveckling baserat pa? StarCraft II

The use of computer games has grown exponentially in the past few years and StarCraft II is one of the most popular e-sports today, played by millions of people worldwide. This study investigates the game?s effect on skills, as perceived by the players of StarCraft II.The study was conducted by using an empirical survey and interviews. The skills being investigated were both physical and mental in their nature. The conclusion was that the majority of players perceived that their skills regarding reaction speed, multitasking, APM, analysis and strategy were increased the most, while there was a smaller change in social skills and language skills.

Livskunskap : En inre kompass i skolan

Through qualitative interviews with five teachers from three schools, two public schools within the same school management and a Waldorf school, the purpose of this study is to find out teachers' views on the phenomenon of life skills in the lower classes in school. What is the subject, how do teachers work with life skills, and should it be seen as a separate subject or integrated in all school subjects?The results show that the definition of life skills is a term with many interpretations. Two concepts that can be seen as the common denominators in the educators' views on the subject, however is, social and emotional skills. This is something that educators believe develop self-awareness and empathy in children and sees that as important as learning other subjects.

This is qualitative study of, four teacher´s views on the use of iPad in teaching and learning. In addition, I will examine the disadvantages and advantages of iPad use as a teaching tool in preschools.My questions are:What is the practical use of tablets in preschools today?Are preschool teachers using the tablet as a teaching tool? If so, how?Is the use of tablets in preschools contributing to children´s social interaction, as well as between children and teachers` social interaction?The purpose of this study was to find out how the four teachers uses the iPad as a teaching tool in the interaction between children in preschool. I have chosen to use Vygotsky?s and John Dewey´s theories.

Simulering av bildöverföring från en inbyggd plattform till Android tablet

Detta examensarbete utfördes på Syntronics kontor i Linköping. De hade en idé om att göra en porttelefon med hjälp av ett kretskort som de själva utvecklat, Midrange-plattformen. Detta kretskort är till för att vara flexibelt och kunna användas till olika syften.De förutsättningar jag utgick ifrån var att fortsätta på ett annat projekt som hade undersökt möjligheterna till att koppla in en videokamera till Midrange-plattformen. Jag skulle således fortsätta med samma hårdvara som de valt ut och använt.Min uppgift var att utveckla en Android tablet-app samt ta fram ett protokoll för överföring av bilder/video från Midrange-plattformen till Androidappen.Resultatet blev en Androidapp och ett egendefinierat protokoll för överföring av bilder. Men då problem uppstod med användningen av den kamera som jag fick gjordes istället en simulerad version av Midrange-plattformen med inkopplad kamera..

Why is that? The aim of this survey was to examine if there were any differences between girls and boys regarding communication skills when they begin in school.The main questions taken in account were:Which differences and/or similarities in communication skills are discernible between boys and girls this particular preschool?How do boys and girls communicate with each other in different room contexts on this particular preschool?           To be able to answer the questions, I adopted observations and audio recordings from children aged five.

Responsive web design : En studie i hur designkonceptet påverkar användbarheten hos en webbplats

The main topic of this thesis is to evaluate the impact on the usability of web pages when using responsive web design, a concept for developing web pages whose design adapts to the screen size being used. This is done by creating a responsive prototype based on an existing web site. A number of usability tests are conducted on the two versions of the site in order to compare the time to complete the tests and to observe the behaviour of the test participants. The tests are conducted on desktop as well as on mobile devices with varying screen size.The number of test participants was relatively low, and so the quantitative result is not statistically valid. However, the conclusion is that the most effective combination is to use either of the sites on desktop format.

Preschool has a long tradition of using picture books, both as entertainment and as a resource for educational activities. In science there are two main application areas. The first one is science concepts and the second is to teach basic science process skills. These skills, observing, communicating, inferring, classifying, measuring and predicting reflects the methods used by scientists. Picture books potential to put science concepts and activities that promote the use of science process skills in a meaningful context, recommends using picture books for this purpose.

Social kompetens : -inte bara att varatrevlig och snäll

AbstractMy study is based on that I think there is a problem at the Handicraft program for hairdressers where I currently work as a hairdresser teacher. I believe that there are clear objectives and a wide range of courses focusing in craft knowledge, but the social competence goals are unclear and there are no courses on the subject. Since I have 13 years hairdressing experience and know roughly what it requires, I wonder where and how the teaching of social skills is performed at the Handicraft program for hairdressersThe purpose of this study is therefore to find out how some of my colleagues perceive the teaching of social skills. The issues I have focused on are what these teachers believe that social skills are, how they perceive their teaching of it and when they believe that teaching really should be. There is not much literature on this subject because it is a relatively unexplored area. I have therefore concentrated on literature dealing with social skills in general, and theses and essays dealing with the quality of hairdressing education. I have chosen to make a qualitative interview study. The objectives related to social skills can be incorporated in the teaching of many subjects; I chose to interview two core-subject teachers and four vocational teachers. The interviews have been based on respondents' own interpretations of social skills. They have been individual interviews of about 30 minutes. My results show that most teachers believe that social competence is about a good meeting between people and to coping with different situations in a good way.

Pedagogiskt samarbete mellan bibliotek och förskola i syfte att främja barns språkutveckling.

The present thesis is about how preschool children develop their language skills. The purpose is also to discuss how library and preschool can collaborate and in different ways together help the children to achieve different skills and to use their first and second language in a more appropriate way. The main problem identified from literature and own observations is why library and preschool dont collaborate to help young children to develop their language skills? Which reasons are behind a lacking collaboration? What can be done to increase collaboration between the library and the preschool? How can librarians and preschool teachers use their different professional skills in the best manner to be able to help the children to develop their skills in language acquisition? Is it possible to measure childrens language skills and how can one decide what characterizes a good collaboration? We started with a literature review and continued with collecting qualitative data by means of interviews with people who worked as librarians and preschool teachers, who were supposed to collaborate in a language oriented project. We have chosen different language theories by well-known scientists and we have only picked a few of them, which we considered relevant for the chosen topic.
