In my work as speech and language pathologist I often meet people emerging from coma andtheir experiences intrigue me. Coma is an eluding human condition that offers a challenge formodern science and our view on body and mind. In my Master project in Creative Writing Iwanted to try to enter this zone that is so hard for a clinician to reach: the personal experienceof being in a coma. By writing HUSK MIDAS I have tried to create a realistic fiction based onresearch on coma state and real-life stories of people waking up from coma.In my exploration of the coma state I found that lucid dreaming is common apart fromdreaming, many patients experience sensory inputs like sound and touch which aremisinterpreted and woven into dreams and creating a feeling of confusion and fear.Coma is a frequent theme in literature and film but is often depicted unrealistically andmisleadingly. A few works like Artur Lundkvist?s Journeys in Dream and Imagination andthe film The Descendents by Alexander Payne show a more reality based fiction.

IntroduktionBröstcancer är den vanligaste cancersjukdom hos kvinnor i den svenska befolkningen. Vid icke spridd cancer är behandlingen alltid operation där en del eller hela bröstet opereras bort. Det kan vara mycket svårt för många kvinnor att acceptera bröstförlust och mastektomi upplevs ofta av kvinnor som ett trauma och ger en försämrad kroppsuppfattning. SyfteSyftet var att beskriva kvinnornas livskvalitet och psykosociala tillstånd efter mastektomi. MetodEn systematisk litteraturstudie baserades på granskning av 14 kvantitativa artiklar och en kvalitativ artikel. Artiklarna kvalitetsgranskades, analyserades och diskuterades och sammanställde resultatet med olika tema. ResultatAnalysen resulterade i två huvudkategorier: Livskvalité och psykosociala konsekvenser. De psykosociala konsekvenserna efter genomförd mastektomi bestod av tre subkategorier nämligen: sämre kroppsuppfattning, minskad sexuell lust samt ångest och depression vilket i sin tur ledde till försämrad livskvalitet. Slutsats    Försämrad livskvalitet, dålig kroppsuppfattning och psykisk ohälsa såsom depression, ångest samt försämrat sexualliv påvisades hos majoriteten av kvinnor som genomgick mastektomi.

Perchlorate and chlorate are naturally occurring in the atmosphere, from here it sediments into groundwater and soil. The pollution is increased by discharges of perchlorate and chlorate from agriculture and paper mills. Bacteria capable of reducing perchlorate and chlorate to chloride and oxygen can be used to get rid of these contaminants. However an anaerobic environment needs to be sustained in order for this reaction to be used. For this reduction to work in an aerobic environment as well, a greater knowledge of the reducing enzymes, regulating factors and their corresponding genes is needed.

Bakgrund: Höftfrakturer hos äldre ökar varje år, både hos män och kvinnor, och är ett av de största hälsoproblemen. Cirka en fjärdedel av alla platser på ortopediska avdelningar upptas av höftfrakturs patienter och detta kostar sjukvården miljonbelopp varje år. I stort sett alla höftfrakturer uppkommer till följd av fall. Dessa fall behöver förebyggas och i detta arbete har sjuksköterskan en viktig roll. Osteoporos är en utbredd sjukdom som ger en minskad hållfasthet i benet och ökar risken för frakturer.

Föreliggande studie är dels ett led i att kvalitetssäkra EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) som behandlingsmetod för barn och ungdomar och dels att utröna om behandlingen bidragit till ett förbättrat mående. EMDR som behandlingsmetod för barn och ungdomar har stöd i kontrollerade studier, men ytterligare forskning behövs. I den här studien deltog åtta barn och ungdomar med varierande diagnoser, vilka fått EMDR-behandling i barn- och ungdomspsykiatrisk öppenvård. Behandlingen ingick i en individualterapi i ett familjeterapeutiskt sammanhang.Barnen/ungdomarna intervjuades per telefon om hur de upplevt behandlingen och om sitt mående i efterförloppet. Information om diagnoser, C-GAS, antal EMDR-sessioner samt terapeutens bedömning inhämtades som komplement till intervjun.

The purpose of this study is to explore the Swedish site Funbeat which is a space dedicated to people who share an interest in exercising in general, and running in particular. By applying a netnographic analysis, I will investigate if Funbeat matches the criteria of a participatory culture and how the members manage to establish a collective intelligence within the community. In order to achieve this, I will analyze the interactivity between the participants which occurs in discussion threads concerning injuries related to running, in the sites discussion forum. The results will then be discussed in relation to previous research within the field for participatory culture, collective intelligence and interactivity.The outcome of the study revealed that Funbeat can be regarded as very good example of a participatory culture. By each member sharing their individual knowledge in matters regarding injuries, a collective intelligence was established.

Personal inom ambulanssjukvård utsätts ofta för svåra situationer i sitt arbete. Svåra olyckor med starka synintryck, patienter som utsätts för starka psykiska trauman i form av exempelvis dödsfall av närstående och andra trauman kan även bli ett trauma för den personal som är involverad i händelsen. Syfte: Studien syftade till att undersöka förekomsten av symptom på Posttraumatisk Stress hos ambulanspersonal samt förekomsten av stöd för att bearbeta traumatiska händelser. En kvantitativ enkätstudie utfördes som inkluderade en screeningdel för PTSD. Inklusionskriterierna för studien var personal, oavsett utbildningsnivå, med aktiv tjänstgöring på akutambulans.

In Scandinavia the general idea of the Bronze Age society is that it was organised as chiefdoms. The model for what they looked like is taken from the anthropological studies of the Polynesian chiefdoms. The aim of my study is to investigate a Scandinavian Bronze Age feature, known as cairns mainly containing fire-cracked stone. This is compared with how people in different Polynesian chiefdoms, looked at similar remain. This is done to get a background for new ways of interpretation of such remains.

Bakgrund: Artros kan utvecklas utan påvisbar anledning eller till följd av en inflammatorisk sjukdom eller ett trauma. Det är framförallt äldre personer som drabbas av artros och kvinnor drabbas oftare jämfört med män. Knä- och höftleder samt stortån- och tummarnas grundleder är de leder som framförallt drabbas av artros men sjukdomen kan även förekomma i ryggradens leder. I åldrarna 65-74 är 20?30% drabbade av röntgendiagnostiserad knäledsartros.

Burnt alun shale and lime is the residual product that was formed when alun shale was used as fuel to convert limestone to quick lime. The material contains arsenic, vanadium, molybdenum, cadmium, nickel, lead, and uranium among other elements. The aim of this paper is to examine the uptake of trace elements in vegetables grown on burnt alun shale and lime to determine whether or not the surrounding environment and humans are exposed to these elements by eating plant products. A cultivation trial was carried out where onion, carrot, and lettuce were grown on three mounds of burnt alun shale and lime in the Falköping area in Sweden. The treatments were burnt alun shale and lime mixed with peat, only burnt alun shale and lime, and a reference soil. The reference plots were natural soil mixed with peat adjacent to the mounds.

Möjlighet till vila är ett grundläggande mänskligt behov. Vid kritisk sjukdom eller trauma som kräver intensivvård befinner sig människan i en miljö med andra rutiner och annan dygnsrytm. Miljön på intensivvårdsrummet kan leda till sömnstörningar och utgöra ett hinder för vila. Brist på vila och sömn förhindrar läkning och återhämtning och beskrivs som en bidragande faktor till IVA-syndrom. Att befrämja patientens behov av vila är intensivvårdssjuksköterskans uppgift och att befrämja vila för en annan människa borde innebära att själv ha en tanke om vad vila kan innebära.

The goal of this essay was to study if the way gaming review sites presented their review evaluation has any influences the level of product involvement in the users it attracts. The assumption we did during the essay was that there was a connection between user?s level of product involvement and the quality of the community. To test this assumption we started out by performing observations on the comment sections in three gaming news sites which varied in their method for evaluating games. The result of these observations showed a significantly higher community quality in one of the websites.

In this thesis I have decided to take a closer look into my own ?backyard?. A river that runs through my hometown, Akureyri, has been a thorn in some people?s side. Glerá river has taken lives but it has also given the town possibilities to develop.

In my study I have participated at the Fifth Dimension / Active Worlds site in Villa Gymnastiken in Ronneby, where I have worked both as an assistant to the project leader and as a researcher, but also as a participant together with the children. The children are working in a virtual world called Femtedim, created in a internet-based program named Active Worlds Education Universe. The Femtedim-world are bridging together two physical worlds in Ronneby and Copenhagen. My main focus is on an intervention that occurred in the 12th of March when the research-team in Copenhagen, which runs the project in Denmark, decided to create a new challenge for the children since some of them started to get bored. They added gravitation to the Femtedim-world, which lead to a few different reactions among the children. Most of the children didn´t like it and were very hostile towards the idea that they would not be able to fly around freely in the Femtedim-world.

In this thesis we present a qualitative study of Employer Branding through a perspective of gender. We examine the awareness of Employer Branding as a tool to break gender patterns in female and male dominated administrations in three Swedish municipalities. Six recruiters people were interviewed, including three pre-school managers and three managers of technical administrations, to see if there are any differences or similarities between the organizations? Employer Branding to break gender patterns. In addition to the interviews, the Web pages of these three municipalities were investigated through a contextual perspective.We found that our interviewees do use Employer Branding, but that they were not necessarily aware of its? meaning.
