Abstract  Interest in Lean grows and spreads to the public from industrial and service sectors. Lean is currently used in administrative processes and it is called Administration but can administration be Lean? The aim of our study is to develop a useful model for a successful implementation of Lean Administration by using various scientific articles, books and information from the case study.The part of the purpose is to: ? Identify critical success factors that arise? Identify the challenges arising from the implementation of Lean Administration.We have studied a Division within Distribution at GE Healthcare in Uppsala. The model that we have developed provides challenges and success factors for a successful implementation.In order to succeed in implementation, a culture that promotes continuous improvement must exist in the organization. A key success factor is to understand Lean Administrations structure and principles.

Modern technology and fast development of heat pumps, the hunt for savings in energy consumption and the strive for environmentally friendly energy sources, convenience, and financial profit, have made heat pumps a reasonable alternative for the heating of houses.When the heat pump starts it will consume a considerable amount of current, which may result in a short-lived voltage-drop if the power grid is weak compared to the start-up current.The company Fortum Distribution which owns and administrates electrical network is interested in an investigation that deals with heat pumps affect on the quality of electricity.The purpose of this investigation is to study fast electrical fluctuations (flicker) as a result of start-up currents for single as well as multiple heat pumps on the same electrical station and from this evaluate whether there will be any problems installing heat pumps..

Green Cargo är den största aktören för godstransporter på järnväg i Sverige. Dotterbolaget Road&Logistics erbjuder kombinerade transporter bestående av järnväg och lastbil. Järnvägen utnyttjas för de långväga transporterna och lastbilarna för slingtrafiken. Med hjälp av crossdockingterminaler samlastas även gods från olika lastbärare till en enhet. Detta för att optimera kapacitetsutnyttjandet, vilket ger synergieffekter i form av miljövinster och sänkta kostnader.

The aim of this thesis is to find a statistical model that sort logs according to a predicted modulus of elasticity on the sawn boards. The input parameters for the model are X-ray variables from an X-ray scanner. For some of the log classes sawn at the sawmill it is desirable to have a narrow distribution of modulus of elasticity on the sawn boards. 250 pine logs from five different diameter classes were numbered and followed through the sawmill process. Log data were collected from X-ray and 3-D scanners in the log intake.

Detta examensarbete är det avslutande momentet på civilingenjörsutbildningen Ergonomisk design och produktion. Arbetet har utförts på Scanias utvecklingsavdelning för hyttergonomi och design i Södertälje och handlar om hur framtidens lastbilar kommer att styras. Utgångspunkten har varit att skapa förbättringar i- och kring förarplatsen med fokus på ratten. Scania är en världsledande tillverkare av tunga lastbilar och bussar, företaget grundades år 1891 i Södertälje, där det idag har sitt huvudkontor. Scania utvecklar, tillverkar och marknadsför lastbilar för fjärrtrafik, bygg- och anläggningstransporter samt distribution.

The main purpose of this report is a first step to cover the scarcely investigated subject of interspecific competition between roe deer, Capreolus capreolus, and fallow deer, Dama dama. The report focuses on the distance between individuals of roe and fallow in the study area as well as which factors that is affecting the variation in distance depending on fallow deer group size and changing population density over time and in two areas. For additional information the history of the populations, such as harvest and distribution, is also investigated. The report came to the conclusion that interspecific competition between the species do occur. The elevated distance between individuals of the two species is clearly significant. The most important factor affecting the distance seemed to be the size of the fallow groups.

Fler än 350 miljoner människor i världen hade en depression 2012 och sjukdomen tillhör tillsammans med hjärt-kärlsjukdom de mest kostsamma sjukdomarna i västvärlden. 2007 behandlades över 700 000 personer i Sverige med antidepressiva läkemedel till en kostnad av 990 miljoner kronor. Depression kan vara unipolär (endast nedstämdhet) eller bipolär (även med maniska inslag). En primär ?egentlig? depression, major depression, MDD, har ofta en biologisk orsak.

Med detta som utgångspunkt var mina frågeställningar: Anser idrottslärare och skolsköterskor att det finns ett problem med ortorexi i skolan? Anser idrottslärare/skolsköterskor att media påverkar elevernas kroppsbild? Har skolpersonalen tid och möjlighet att upptäcka ett eventuellt problem?Skiljersig idrottslärarnas och skolsköterskorna uppfattning åt?MetodHalvstrukturerade intervjuer ligger som grund för denna kvalitativa studie. Urvalet skedde genom ett bekvämlighetsurval. En e-postförfrågan skickades ut till tjugofem idrottslärare och skolsköterskor i Östergötland.

This essay is an investigation of the level- and importance of interactivity on YouTube for the active user. YouTube is a great example of a user-friendly Internet environment which enables the users to take part in a virtual community where they can create the content and, with the various functions the site has to offer, interact with each other. With Uses and Gratifications as a tool for this research we look at the motivations and needs of the user and how they come into play on the most popular video distribution site in the world today. Qualitative interviews on Swedish respondents give us insight in how the YouTube-users with their own words perceive this relatively new highly interactive era. We focus on a narrow group of the most popular age-group of YouTube-users to go deeper - not to expand.

New technology makes it possible to remotely measure all consumers in a power network onan hourly basis and store the values in a database.This thesis work describes the conversion process between automatic meter reading systemMActor and calculation software Xpower.Then the possible differences between calculations of power networks using load curves incombination with a yearly estimate of consumption and calculations using hourly measuredvalues is examined.The result of the comparison shows that, for the power network under inspection, nosignificant difference could be noticed. This does not mean that calculations using hourlymeasured values would be unnecessary. I believe that in a near future calculations using hourmeasurements will be the primary choice for many power companies to whom technology isavailable.Also some basic calculations of fundamental power network parameters, such as power factorand loses, are presented using hourly measured distribution transformers in combinations withits hourly measured loads.The report is written in Swedish.

The dissertation deals with an account of actual problem, which can arise within EMC and power quality. The cause of power interruption and what can be done to minimise the power interruption is discussed. It also includes a definition of planning levels and which factors one needs to have control over to carry out a possible planning strategy and how the local distributions net could be more secure. The electrical net could be secure but no system can be free from interruption.The dissertation examines two distribution transformers: GLA40T1 (Glansås) and T399 in Tranås Energy which don?t have regulators.

Denna rapport återger arbetsprocessen kring att utvärdera datalagringsstruktur och förbättra prestanda för generering av parameterfiler för kortterminaler. Arbetet utfördes på plats hos Esplanad AB, ett företag som bland annat arbetar med säkerhetslösningar och distribution av inställningar för betalstationer.Uppgiften bestod av att utvärdera möjligheter till att förbättra databasen som sparar alla inställningarna för betalsystemen, samt att förbättra kodstruktur och prestanda för programmet som genererar filerna.Rapporten beskriver testning av prestanda, både på Esplanads gamla program för att generera parameterfiler och det nya som konstruerades. En lösning presenteras som inkluderar förbättring av filgenereringens prestanda och en ny struktur på databasen för ökad skalbarhet.Tester visar att det nya systemet klarar av att skapa parameterfiler på TLV-format ungefär 16 gånger snabbare. Den föreslagna lösningen implementerar parallella processer och replikering av databasen..

Establishing a reference interval for plasma fibrinogen in foals Fibrinogen concentrations were analysed in EDTA preserved blood plasma samples from 34 thoroughbred foals born in 2001 and 2002 at one stud farm. The foals were between 0 and 240 days old at the time of the sampling, and there were 19 fillies and 12 stallions in the group. The foals were examined for clinical symptoms of disease and their body temperature was measured before blood was sampled from the jugular vein. From totally 156 blood samples, 31 were selected as originating from clinically healthy foals, and used to determine a reference range for thoroughbred foals. Samples originating from foals showing clinical symptoms of disease or an abnormal body temperature at the time of sampling, were classified as coming from unhealthy animals.

Fragmentation and reduction of forest area is a threat for many forest species and their habitat. Deficiencies in forest quality, such as lack of dead wood and old trees, are one explanation of the threat. The most important action to prevent the continued loss of forest types is to protect forest, but also to restore and to create areas that not previously had high nature values. Hence one of the key strategic roles for Fritid- och Naturkontoret, Uppsala municipality, is to monitor biodiversity in the context of urban planning. The majority of the Uppsala municipality residents live in urban areas and most of them spend some of their spare time in natural areas in cities and their immediate surroundings. Exploitation in and around Uppsala is high, but it is important that there is enough nature close to houses to meet the residents? needs of recreation.

This report presents the use of questions by both teachers and students in chemistry class. Both students and teachers have been observed during 24 lessons, both theoretical and practical. In addition, interviews have been made with the teachers and the students have answered a questionnaire. The result show that a high number of questions are asked, more than one per minute and that both teachers and students ask the same amount of questions. This contradicts earlier findings were teachers questions dominate.
