As a small and land scarce country, effective waste management is ofoutmost importance in Singapore. In this study the production of biogasthrough anaerobic digestion from the organic fraction of municipal solidwaste (OFMSW) was compared to incineration of the waste. At the momentalmost all of the OFMSW in Singapore is incinerated. Three differentScenarios were compared to the reference scenario (incineration): one with alarge scale biogas plant that can treat half of all OFMSW in Singapore, onewith a medium scale biogas plant about 15 times smaller than the large oneand one with a small scale biogas plant that can treat waste from e.g. ashopping center or a food center.By using life cycle assessment (LCA) the different Scenarios were comparedin terms of global warming potential (GWP), acidification, eutrophication,energy use and land use.

Mankind faces a serious threat. Its activities, for example the burning of fossil fuels, have led to an enhancement of the greenhouse effect - something that has given rise to a global warming. The climate is becoming warmer, a change that has important effects on the nature as well as for humans and their society. Sea level rising, extreme temperatures are becoming more common, glaciers and other ice caps melt and storms becomes more intense when they appear. The main cause is the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere - carbon dioxide in particular.

I have always lived around mines and around people work­ing with mines. They are a natural part of my life and, inev­itably, a great interest of mine. When time came to make a decision for a degree project, focusing on the mine context felt as natural as breathing.In LKABs underground mines, safety in fire accidents is a great priority. Of outmost importance for the escape is to have a personal gas filter for filtration of smoke and/or gas. My design project resulted in a concept which is aimed at shortening the user journey from the start of the accident until the user has applied the personal safety solution and is ready to escape.Throughout the project I?ve been working with a context which is heavily regulated, and all problems are serious, important ones.

A Biogas plant in SLU?s (Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences) management sustains to behave in con-nection with the new animal stables at Lövsta. There will primarily manure from stables that rot to biogas. The biogas plant will also have the capacity that rot others substrates that can arise in the farm operation. The aim with the biogas plant is to produce non fossil electrical and gas heat for own customs, to reduce smell impact from stables and to make possible different types of research investments within the area.This study has implemented multiple cases study of different investment Scenarios.

Hallstaviks papermill is an industry plant within Holmen Paper. Hallstavik is a mechanical mill and produce newspaper and journal paper. During year 2000, Hallstavik used approximate 1.200 m3f spruce, either as logs or chips from sawmills. Due to that the production is running continuously the mill also needs raw material at the same rate. At some periods the supply of raw material cannot keep up pace.

Syftet med denna rapport är att beskriva arbetet kring utvecklingen av en webbapplikation för försäljning av t-shirts - Shrt - och utreda möjligheterna för att lansera varumärket på marknaden. Projektet utgick ifrån visionen ?att ge våra kunder verktygen som behövs för att uttrycka sin personlighet, genom mode som kunden själv designar, via webben?. Under projektet har utvecklingsmetodiken scrum använts tillsammans med andra verktyg som är vanliga vid agila projekt. Vid konkretisering av varumärket Shrt och dess produkt genomfördes brainwriting. För att skapa en produktbacklogg använde sig utvecklingsgruppen av arbetsmetoderna funktionsanalys, konceptdivergens, konceptutvärdering och prototyping. Funktionerna i produktbackloggen delades sedan in i kategorierna nödvändiga, önskvärda samt onödiga funktioner. Produktbackloggen låg sedan till grund för hur arbetet delades upp i tre olika sprintar med separata mål och redovisningar. Den första sprinten fokuserade på funktion, den andra på upplevelse för användaren och den tredje på underhåll samt förbättring av kod ? refaktorering. Under slutet av utvecklingen genomfördes användartester utifrån Task-based Scenarios där användaren får försöka utföra en uppgift utan instruktioner på hur den ska utföras.  Resultatet av projektet blev en webbapplikation med all funktionalitet som klassificerades som nödvändig och önskvärd.

Since the 19th century the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere hasincreased by 40 percent as an effect of the use of fossil energy sources.Increased concentration of CO2 will likely lead to increased temperature,changes in precipitation, rising sea level and increased frequency of extremeweather like storm events. A step to reduce emissions of CO2 and mitigateclimate change, for the property of Tagel, can be to adopt new silviculturalstrategies and analyse which is the most effective. As a result of that, threeScenarios was produced, business-as-usual (BAU), increased set aside landand energy. An introduction of windpower at Tagels estate (property) andeffects on carbon balance was also examined. By using the Heureka systemand LCA-analysis in this study, it showed that the scenario of increased setaside land was the most efficient way to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2)emissions for the analysed period of 100 years.

Several technical solutions are ready to step forward as the new generation of propellant, and this report aims to explore the possibility of commercializing fuel cell cars. The report is based on current research and data from today's technology and engineering solutions that are estimated to be commercially realized before 2020.A mapping of today?s different fuel cell options has shown that the most suitable fuel cell option is the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell, which uses hydrogen as fuel. The report is focusing on a techno-economic well-to-wheel analysis of hydrogen and the energy balance and costs in a system perspective. The basis for this analysis consists of two centralized methods of production, steam methane reforming (SMR), and alkaline water electrolysis.

This thesis has been performed at Scania CV AB Technical Centre in Södertälje and its aim hasbeen to study the causes and effects of deformations in the interface between the rear axlehousing ADA1100 and the central gear house R780 during operation. Design changes that wouldincrease the sealing capability of the studied interface are also suggested. Finite element (FE)and CAD software have been the primary tools in this study.Finite element (FE) simulations are used in the industry to predict and develop engineeringdesigns. The main motive for FE simulations has traditionally been to identify weak spots in thedesign, regarding high tensions and large deformations.The FE model is an aggregation of submodels and interface models that represents the rear axlehousing, suspension, central gear, central gear housing, wheels, bolts and weldings, and theirinteractions. The submodels have different material properties and they are connected withcontact interface models.Boundary conditions are defined on the bushings in front of the rear axle and on the air bellowsbehind the rear axle.

Enligt litteraturen är kommunikation en viktig komponent för att undvika incidenter. Syftet var att belysa vikten av kommunikation vid förflyttning, studera hur vårdgivarna reagerar av tidsstressen och hur stressen inverkar på kommunikationen samt jämföra resultatet från denna studie med en tidigare av författarna. Därför har följande frågeställningar valts: 1) Hur kommunicerar vårdgivarna med varandra vid förflyttning av vårdtagare? 2) Inverkar tidsstress kommunikationen? 3) Är det någon skillnad på kommunikationsmönstret mellan två erfarna vårdgivare och mellan en erfaren och en mindre erfaren vårdgivare? Fem semi- strukturerade intervjuer och en observationsstudie genomfördes, följt av en tematisering. Intervju-deltagarna var fyra erfarna undersköterskor och en undersköterskeelev.

Syftet med den externa redovisningen som företag presenterar är att förse dess intressenter med information om företagets ekonomiska ställning. Bristen på både tid och pengar gör att en revisor inte kan granska alla transaktioner som uppkommer i ett företag, utan han/hon måste således prioritera det som är mest väsentligt att granska. Det finns i praktiken dock inga enkla och entydiga svar på vad som är väsentligt eller inte. Istället är det upp till revisorn att lita på sitt omdöme och sin erfarenhet för att bedöma vad som är väsentligt att granska. Syftet med den här studien var att undersöka hur olika revisorer på små revisionsbyråer gör väsentlighetsbedömningen.

The audience and their use of the media have changed where available range has expanded while the size of the audience has remained the same. For media companies this implies a fight for the audience, where the right approach is vital for keeping as well as attracting new customers. Public service is an issue under current debate and its future role in the media industry has been brought into question. This survey investigates the roll of public service in Scandinavia in a new and changing media industry and how they should act to be important for their audience.

This is a bachelor thesis, written at the business studies institute, Uppsala Unviersity, exploring how digitalization has affected the Swedish book industry. This is done by studying how the introduction of the e-book has changed the way the publishers work and what problems and opportunities arise with the new way to publish and consume books. The technology optimists, that existed around the turn of the millennium, when the e-book came, made predictions along the lines of the physical book having ceased to exist within five to ten years. But the physical paper books do very much still exist, so haven?t the change happened as predicted? The purpose of this thesis is as follows: How has introduction of the e-book affected the relationship between the Swedish publishers and the book as a whole? This means that we consider the book as a concept, as a resource or product, and study how a change in this product affect publishers.The theoretical framework used is basically classical network theory.

This study analyses the economic consequences due to ethanol production in Eastern Sweden. The analyses consider the cooperative and the farmers as one vertically integrated company. The area that found the market in this study is illustrated in figure 1. The analyses assume that all members act jointly with the objective of maximizing joint profits at the farm level as well as at the cooperative firm. A mathematical model is created to calculate the optimal use of arable land.
