A great fire seized a suburb in a small town in Sweden in the autumn of 2011. Parts of a shopping mall were burnt to the ground by youngsters. Due to the suburb's earlier problems, the event was a tough ethical dilemma for the town's journalists.The purpose of this thesis was to study and examine the local newspapers ethical treatment of this event. How do they motivate their decisions on what to publish and what not to publish? How do the articles treat ethical dilemmas? What do the journalists think about ethical journalism?This study is based on a survey of the articles published about the fire in the two local newspapers seven days after the fire.

This thesis analyzes the consequences of ?Lex Uggla? ? a law concerning the boundaries between firm and individual with respect to wealth taxation ? for small businesses, with more than 3 million SEK in over-liquidity. There are two main findings of this thesis. Firstly, the wealth taxation of non-operational assets seems to be an inefficient tax which costs the Swedish welfare system much more than it generates. Secondly, the change in actions among entrepreneurs following the extensive news coverage following the tax authority?s charges against the company of the well-known artist, Magnus Uggla (hence ?Lex Uggla?) illustrates that neither changes of rules nor new applications of rules is necessarily sufficient for an agent to change course of action.

Att kunna ta fram nyckeltal för att användas i projekteringsfasen under ett investeringsprojekt är en komplex uppgift. Vi har i denna uppsats studerat hur detta Scenario ter sig inom gruvindustrin i Sverige. Kostnadskalkylering med nyckeltal i projekteringsfasen i ett investeringsprojekt, påverkas i stor grad av faktorer som är svåra att ta hänsyn till, men vi har studerat denna problematik, och funnit att, det kan till viss del påverka omgivningen samt visa på möjligheter att använda kostnadskalkyleringen och framtagandet av nyckeltal för att användas i praktiken. Denna studie utmynnar i vilka nyckeltal som är möjliga att använda samt hur dessa ska utformas, för att nå samstämmighet mellan kalkyl och utfall samt till vilken grad dessa påverkas av omgivningen..

Matematik, inte bara tal, handlar om lärarnas aktiva didaktik utifrån ett kognitivt, sociokulturellt och kognitivt neurovetenskapligt perspektiv. Vi har satt som mål att problematisera och beskriva gymnasielärares didaktiska ambitioner inom det matematiska området negativa tal. Detta har vi gjort genom kvalitativa intervjuer med tre verksamma gymnasielärare. Vi gav dessa lärare ett fiktivt Scenario: att introducera negativa tal för elever i årskurs åtta. Intervjupersonerna har fått berätta om sitt didaktiska upplägg.

The sea-level is rising due to climate change. This report inquires into the possibleconsequences of sea-level rise in Värmdö and its archipelago with particular focus on roadsand buildings. Four Scenarios with a sea-level rise of 0.5, 1.5, 2.5 meter and a worst caseScenario of 3.9 meter are analyzed using a geographic information system (GIS) calledarcMap. The report also examines how Värmdö is taking into account future sea-level rise intheir planning today. The report´s findings show that uplift and sea-level rise cancel eachother out in the Scenario with a sea-level rise of 0.5 meter, but that a number of more or lessimportant roads and buildings will be affected by a rise of 1.5 meters.

Det råder hård konkurrens på marknaden för sågade trävaror. Längdkrav på furuprodukter var tidigare sällsynt men blir allt vanligare. Idag efterfrågas längre och längre längder, helst ska sågade trävaror vara över 42 dm (vilket motsvaras av timmerlängder över 43 dm). Iggesunds sågverk ställer sig frågan om det finns möjligheter till en bättre längdanpassning av sågverkets timmerlängder till marknadens krav, och om en sådan förändring skulle löna sig? Detta arbete tittar på tre scenarier till förändrade timmerlängder och hur de påverkar Iggesunds sågverks lönsamhet.

The thesis demonstrates protection solutions that can be suitable for a camp during internationalmissions in order to resist complex threats. The threats could consist of small arms, machineguns,RPG 7, anti armour missiles, mortar, artillery, HPM-weapons, car bombs, biological and chemicalweapons as well as sabotage and theft. It?s not the technology itself that makes the threat Scenariocomplex it?s the way the opponent acts during the operations. The opponent acts usually incivilian clothes and therefore he is difficult to distinguish from other civilians.

Under 1994 fanns i Sverige ett vårdnadsbidrag för föräldrar till små barn, som alternativ till kommunal barnomsorg. Uppsatsen är en kvantitativ studie av uttaget av vårdnadsbidraget 1994. En linjär sannolikhetsmodell används för att utröna hur olika faktorer som påverkade uttaget. De huvudsakliga resultaten är att vårdnadsbidragstagarna i regel var gifta eller samboende kvinnor som tjänade mindre än sina män och arbetade inom kommunal sektor.Sannolikheten för uttag minskade med ökande inkomst och om föräldrarna hade högskoleutbildning, medan utbildning inom vård eller pedagogik ledde till en ökad sannolikhet för uttag. Sveriges nya borgerliga regering vill återinföra vårdnadsbidraget varför ett möjligt Scenario vid ett sådant återinförande diskuteras..

Storm water management has become a more important matter as urban areas are expanding and natural areas are being exploited. As nature landscapes are being converted into hard surface areas storm water flow is affected both in terms of velocity and size. A flow increase can easily result in a flooding if the dimensions of the pipeline system are inadequate. Considering predicted upcoming climate changes, flooding?s may become more common in urban areas in the future.

This thesis will address a problem concerning availability of information systems at an enterprise within the financial sector and its external suppliers, so called trusted third party. The information system resides on the internal network of the enterprise and must be available to both employees of the enterprise and the trusted third party simultaneously. This contradicts the company policy which disallows third parties access to the internal network. The HAVECA-model introduced in this thesis provides a framework of methods, each solving a sub problem identified in the model. The identified methods are hardening, verification, control and assurance, together supplying a method for continuously securing the internal network against a trusted third party.

The success of self-service technology in retail grocery stores cannot be ignored, and the fact is that every other grocery store in Sweden has implemented the self-scanning or self-checkout systems. The trend is that the technique is spreading into other markets with potential to increase productivity for companies and enhance the service for customers. Fast fashion is one branch that is left untouched by the development in payment processes, and despite the leading companies extensive focus on fast service, the concept of self-service technology has not yet been tested. This paper undertake a quantitative, experimental approach to the issue and examines the effect self-checkout would have on Fast fashion- customers. By presenting a Scenario with and without self- checkout and afterwards asked about the respondents experience, we can provide the marketing world with new insights.

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is a technology that utilizes the temperaturedifference in oceans between the warm surface water and the cold water at 1000 m depthto produce electricity. The purpose of this report is to investigate if OTEC with its synergiescould become a commercially feasible energy solution for a small island. A literature reviewis conducted to explore the different OTEC technologies and to what extent the threesynergies; fresh water, air conditioning and aquaculture, could be used. In order to calculatethe profitability of these synergies there is also a study conducted on the conventionalmethods and cost of fresh water production, aquaculture and air conditioning. A model is setup using a Scenario of a small tropical Island with population of 100 000 people.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects on a simulated wastewater plant regarding GHG emissions and use of energy and resources when implementing source separated wastewater systems. The effects were studied for different restrictions of effluent quality and for different temperatures on the influent. The simulation model BSM2G calibrated for Käppala wastewater treatment plant was used. The task was executed by simulating nine different Scenarios with an increase in influent load from new connections equivalent to 3, 10 and 30 % of the present connections. These new connections were served by conventional, urine separated or black water separated systems.

The objective of this thesis was firstly to examine the possibilities of creating a universal tool for evaluating IT-security. When all the material was gathered we saw that we had strayed away from our subject and that our focus was on IT-threats and IT-professionals apprehensions and possibilities on the subject. The purpose of this thesis was there after to find and identify threats and counter measures in publications and later discuss these with IT-professionals. We found and identified several threats that the professionals encountered in their work. These threats ranged from techniques used by hackers to threats that can arise when the users on the network are poorly educated.

The task has been to develop a client/server system to accessdata stored in SQL databases where the client application is developed to run onregular cellular telephones. The importance has been to develop as reliable mobilecommunication as possible. The functionality that is demanded upon the mobilecommunication is:? Secured for future versions? Interoperability? Data should not be bugged, modified or disappearunnoticed? Resource efficientWe have achieved these demands by developing our own protocol that is on top ofthe TCP protocol.
