Individual cellulose ?bers were studied to identify the transport and absorbtion phenomena as well as the in?uence of drying. A Chalmers University of Technologydeveloped method within ESEM (Enviromental Scanning Electron Microscope) has been used in this study. The results from the laborations gave the following conclu-sions: The transport of water occurs in ?bers in the ?ber wall surface and the lumen.

The success of self-service technology in retail grocery stores cannot be ignored, and the fact is that every other grocery store in Sweden has implemented the self-Scanning or self-checkout systems. The trend is that the technique is spreading into other markets with potential to increase productivity for companies and enhance the service for customers. Fast fashion is one branch that is left untouched by the development in payment processes, and despite the leading companies extensive focus on fast service, the concept of self-service technology has not yet been tested. This paper undertake a quantitative, experimental approach to the issue and examines the effect self-checkout would have on Fast fashion- customers. By presenting a scenario with and without self- checkout and afterwards asked about the respondents experience, we can provide the marketing world with new insights.

Den nya mätningstekniken på marknaden kallas terrester laserskanning. Tekniken bygger på att ett instrument, monterat på ett stativ, sänder ut en laserstråle vilken avlänkas i vertikalled av en spegel samtidigt som det roterar. Laserstrålen reflekteras mot de objekt som befinner sig inom laserskannerns synfält och resulterar i ett punktmoln. Punktmolnet innehåller ofta flera miljoner punkter vilka alla erhåller xyz-koordinater. Tekniken har visat sig lämplig vid dokumentation av byggnader och vid modellering samt kartläggning av industrier och tunnelbyggen.Denna studie har genomförts på Sweco VBB i Karlstad i syfte att ta reda på hur lämplig terrester laserskanning är vid vardaglig inmätning och kartering av objekt i stadsmiljö.

The different characteristics of many food products, such as aroma and texture, changes during storage time and become undesirable. The reason is instabilities within the product which become prominent as the product ages. These changes in characteristics are quality losses caused by changes in the product?s intrinsic and extrinsic environment. The stability in UHT-milk and beverages similar to it have been studied in the past decades and a certain focus have been on age gelation which is a common defect in these type of products.

This masters thesis looks at the reception of the beat generation in six given American magazines spanning through the years 1957-1961. The study is basically one of literaty reception. The aim is to see how and if the institution of literature handed the beat generation an identity to go along with their arts. With the use of discourse analysis we have pointed out certain characteristics in the six articles that have been a part of building up an image of the beat generation as a whole. By dividing the result into the two categories social and literary practice we can clearer see what significants were used to create the beat generation.

Orsa Besparingsskog has an aim to take nature considerations in relation to the harvested volume and area of the annual felling. Around 15 percent of the acreage and 10 percent of the volume should be set aside. It is important to keep close to those figures to avoid future negative effects on the long-term harvesting planning. The purpose of this study was to use laser Scanning data to estimate those proportions. The result showed that the proportion of conservation considerations in the ten selected objects in the study was significantly higher than the target of 15 percent of the acreage and 10 percent of the volume. The result showed a setting aside of 19 percent of the acreage and 17 percent of the volume.

This user study was carried out at the library at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg in the spring of 1999. Chalmers wanted to investigate how much their employees use electronic journals. To facilitate decision-making and be cost effective, the library needed to know about their customers' opinions. The main purpose was to investigate the usage of electronic journals, how the library's choice of these journals affects the frequency of use and what the attitudes towards them are. A questionnaire was sent out to 2 400 employees; 477 replies were received.

Tefrokronologi är studierna och metoderna där man identifierar och daterar tefra (vulkanaska) i lagerföljder för att användas som ett synkroniseringsverktyg mellan olika sedimentstratigrafier. I denna studie genomfördes analys av organiskt kol, XRF-Scanning, extrahering och mikroskopering av tefra samt försök till kemisk analys genom elektronmikroskopering av en borrkärna från Fågelmossen i södra Sverige. Tefra hittades i botten av borrkärnan och med hjälp detta fynd i kombination med främst analys av organiskt kol kunde borrkärnans stratigrafi korreleras med resultaten från den tidigare studien..

Vi vill även skapa oss en uppfattning om hur allmännyttan håller på att förändras och vilken roll den spelat historiskt.Metod: Studien bygger på en kvalitativ metod, med två djupintervjuer som varit av semi-strukturerad karaktär. Vi har även gjort en litteraturstudie av allmännyttans historia.

ByggnadsInformationsModellering, BIM är ett komplext begrepp med varierande innebörd beroende på var i byggprocessen det används. Det finns ingen enkel definition av hur arbetet med BIM tillämpas och innefattar många aktiviteter. I rapporten har en litteraturstudie samt intervjufrågor legat till grund för resultat och slutsatser, dessa har riktats mot att ta reda på hur digital informationshantering anpassas till en byggnads förvaltningsskede och hur inventering av en befintlig byggnad kan utföras med dagens teknik. Genom att studera vad som tidigare skrivits inom ämnet samt med kontakter via personer som sysslar med konsultuppdrag eller förvaltningsadministration inom byggbranschen har en sammanställning av nuvarande tillämpningar kunnat visas. I grund och botten är BIM ett modernt arbetssätt som kan nyttjas av alla discipliner för att tillge information i ett projekt som även kan fortsätta att uppdateras vidare genom produktion, förvaltning, ombyggnader samt renovering, och slutligen rivning. Inventering av en äldre byggnad som saknar data kan återskapas med laserskannerteknik och ger en tillförlitlig datainsamling som sedan bearbetas i CAD-program. Forskning har skett för att försöka hitta ett sätt att lokalisera inbyggnadsmaterial utan att göra åverkan på byggnadskonstruktionen. .
