The aim of this thesis is to define digital library, and to investigate a relation between the construction of a digital library and user needs. The main questions to be answered are: 1 What criteria was used when constructing a digital library, particularly concerning issues like purpose, function, design, supply, services, resources and future development of the digital library? 2 How do the digital library system designers and system builders criteria correspond with those of postgraduate researchers? And what factors affect the use? A digital library is an enterprise that gives access to information stored digitally and directly available on the net. The crucial is that the enterprise has a control over collection of information and responsibility to make it available to a defined group of users. In order to investigate the relation between the construction of the digital library and user needs, I have interviewed five key people involved with the work with the digital library and twenty postgraduate researchers from the Gothenburg University.

The usability of the Internet increases for every year. The Weblog phenomenon makes it possible for anyone to easily publish, find information and get in touch with other people through the net. This Essay treats the possibilities the Weblog medium offer Swedish libraries and librarians in library contexts. The purpose of the study is to examine the Web phenomenon: Weblogs, and their significance for a total of eleven Library Heads and librarians together with their view on the Weblog activity at each library connected Weblog, to get comprehension and new knowledge on the usability of Weblogs in the library sector. The foundation for the Essay consists of a qualitative interview study, built on asynchronous e-mail interviews and telephone interviews with blogging librarians and Heads of libraries.

Denna designpedagogiska undersökning baseras pÄ ett empiriskt material som med en etnografisk inspirerad metod med participatory design som grund för deltagandet, undersöker rÀtten till individens visuella uttryck i det offentliga rummet, sett ur ett maktperspektiv inom det socialkonstruktionistiska fÀltet. Syftet Àr att skapa en mötesplats som kan möjliggöra för boende i Orminge att ta plats med visuella avtryck i ett kollektivt skapande. I Orminge, som Àr en förort till Stockholm, har undersökningen Àgt rum i form av en workshop, en aktion och en utstÀllning. Under tre veckor i oktober 2010 kunde biblioteksbesökare till Orminge Bibliotek delta i en öppen workshop. Deltagarna, de boende i Orminge och tillika besökare till Orminge Bibliotek, "mÄlade med trÄd" pÄ duk och bestÀmde sedan platser dÀr den broderade duken skulle placeras ut i det offentliga rummet.

The aim of this paper is to investigate the implementation of genres, pertaining to non-fiction, in four different universal classification schemes BC2, UDC, DDC, SAB. It is not the aim of this paper to answer the question why certain genres are more implemented than others, or vice versa. Instead it is intended to be an investigation into the concept of non-fiction genres with the aim of attracting attention to the many interesting aspects of this concept for library- and information science research. An analysis of the schemes general auxiliary tables is performed by comparison with a specific genre-system devised by Ottar Grepstad. This genre-system is organised by dividing different genres into groups according to linguistic criteria.

The aim of this two years masterÂŽs thesis is to examine discourses about electronic books in relation to libraries that occur in the Swedish library journal Biblioteksbladet by using critical discourse analysis (CDA). The thesis also aims to discuss changes in the discourse practice, and discuss the relationship between discourse practice and social practice in the field of library and information science (LIS). A main point of CDA is that language is a form of social practice that helps shape social reality. Furthermore the concept of ideology, as understood with-in CDA, brings understanding to the way discursive events help reproduce and transform social relations of pow-er. The text samples span from 2005 up to and including 2011 and were examined by using Norman FaircloughÂŽs three-dimensional conception of discourse, which allows for interpretation of text on a linguistic, discursive and social level.The result of the analysis showed that there are several different discourses about electronic books and li-braries, none of which can be said to be particularly representative.

The Swedish group contribution rules do not include a right to deduction for cross-border group contributions unless the receiving company is taxable in Sweden. There has been much discussion regarding whether the rules are compatible with EC law. On 11 March 2009 the Swedish Supreme Administrative Court ruled ten cases concerning the right to deduction for cross-border group contributions. In three of these judgments deduction for a group contribution from a Swedish parent company to a foreign subsidiary within the EEA was allowed, despite that the subsidiary was not taxable in Sweden. The main purpose of this master thesis is to analyse whether the interpretation of the Supreme Administrative Court concerning the right to deduction for cross-border group contributions is compatible with EC law.

The purpose of the present qualitative study is to create knowledge about librarydigital services and their marketing to patrons with disabilities in Armenia, on theexample of the National Library of Armenia, as well as, to discover opinions of theNLA librarians and patrons with disabilities about the importance of library digitalservices to people with disabilities. Literature review and qualitative interviewing has been employed as methods to collect the empirical data. The results have been analyzed and discussed based on the library-marketing model of marketing research, marketing segmentation, marketing mix strategy and marketing evaluation suggested by Koontz & Gubbin (2010). It has been concluded, that 1) e-accessibility issomething new at the NLA and the NLA does not provide equally available knowledge, resources, services, facilities to patrons with disabilities, because of the following main challenges: lack of continuous funding and support from the state, lack of appropriate facilities and technologies, lack of qualified staff, and historicallyinherited library infrastructure impediments; 2) no library service marketing is conducted to patrons with disabilities at the NLA; 3) the opinions are that provisionwith such services is very important to people with disabilities, since they allow those people to gain access and use information in formats adopted to their various needs, and, of course, they become integrated into the modern society. The important role of a library as a non-discriminator and copyright protector in a developing country when delivering digital library services to patrons with disabilities has also been discovered..

Denna uppsats handlar om skolbibliotekariens roll i skolans verksamhet och deras samarbete med lÀrarkÄren. Syftet med studien var dels att ta reda pÄ vilka kompetenser skolbibliotekarierna anser Àr centrala för arbetet och dels hur de sÄg pÄ sitt eventuella samarbete med lÀrarna pÄ skolan. Arbetet har avgrÀnsats till bibliotekariernas perspektiv pÄ rollen och relationen. Dessa frÄgor besvarades med hjÀlp av semistrukturerade, kvalitativa intervjuer med respondenter frÄn tre gymnasieskolbibliotek. För att skapa en teoretisk grund gÄs ocksÄ kompetensbegreppet som sÄdant igenom samt tidigare studier rörande samarbetet mellan de tvÄ yrkesgrupperna.

The aim of this study is to examine how teenage boysperceive the public library. How do they utilize the resourcesprovided by a public library? What are their thoughtsregarding what a public library offers in terms of services toits visitors? Four qualitative interviews with teenage boyswere done for the purpose of this study. The study showsthat these individuals perceive the library as a resource foryoungsters, women, elders or people with disabilities orspecial needs, but not themselves..

In November 2008 the National Library of Sweden decidedto switch classification system from SAB to Dewey decimalclassification. SAB had then been the main classificationsystem in the whole of the Swedish library field for 87 years.Included into the decision was not just the nationalbibliography but also the research libraries of Sweden. Thisdecision was in alignment with a West European tendency tochange in favor of the internationally well-spreadclassification system Dewey in order to co-operate more inthe cataloguing process. The purpose of this study takenplace in the autumn and winter of 2013 is to examine howlibrarians involved in the transition feel about what differentways the implementation has affected the research libraryorganizations. We also aim to study the librarians? view onthe involvement of the research libraries into the decision ofthe changeover.

This thesis deals with classification of the subject field history of medicine. The two classification systems SAB and NLM are compared in order to find out which one is the most adequate to organize a small collection of history of medicine. SAB and NLM are the two most commonly used classification systems in medical libraries in Sweden today. NLM classification system specializes in medicine and SAB is a universal classification system. Our purpose with this study is to find out the pros and cons of each system, whether the systems treat the subject history of medicine in a satisfactory way and what kind of classification system that is better for this assignment, a specific one or a general one.

Detta examensarbete undersöker hur lÀrare i Är 4 arbetar med skönlitteratur och boksamtal i sin undervisning. I studien har Chambers modell och forskning kring skönlitteraturens roll i undervisningen samt samarbetet mellan skola och folkbibliotek undersökts. LÀrare och bibliotekarier har intervjuats och dessa intervjuer har legat till grund för studiens resultat.Studien visar att lÀrares egna engagemang, kunskap och intresse Àr avgörande för hur man pÄ ett framgÄngsrikt sÀtt kan arbeta med skönlitteratur för att nÄ delar av mÄlen i svenska. Det framkommer ocksÄ att reflekterande lÀsning bidrar till att utveckla elevernas sprÄk och ordförrÄd. I vÄr studie framkommer det av tidigare forskning och resultaten frÄn intervjuerna att ett bÀttre samarbete mellan skola och folkbibliotek skulle vara önskvÀrt.
