Equestrianism is a big sport in Sweden with many practitioners. It is a dangerous sport and it is important for the rider to be aware of the risks, to study equine ethology and know how to handle the horse, to avoid accidents. Today most people have their first contact with a horse through a horseback riding school. Ölmstad rid- och körsällskap is a riding school that provides their pupils with a different kind of lessons. The lessons are 90 minutes long and contain both riding and horse-knowledge education.

This thesis deals with oval brooches from the Viking age. The aim of the study is twofold; the first goal is to identify and categorize the brooches according to an already existent scheme, created by two scholars on the subject. This has been accomplished in order establish a separate scheme for this particular material, which consists of two intact and 101 fragments of oval brooches, from Uppåkra in Sweden The other part of the analysis intends to ascertain to what degree it is possible to compare the material with other oval brooches found in Scandinavia, which theories exist about their disappearance and what the most plausible reason for this is..

Anodisering är en ytbehandlingsteknik på frammarsch som ständigt bryter nya banor såväl inom industrin som hos den småskaliga utövaren. I den här uppsatsen ges en bild av hur en smyckesmed och en industri förhåller sig till ytbehandlingstekniken idag. Det är en jämförelse utifrån en historisk kontext om industrialiseringens framfart och samarbete branscherna emellan. Anodisering är en ytbehandlingsteknik som förstärker aluminiumet funktionellt och/eller estetiskt. Uppsatsen är av kvalitativ natur där material hämtats in för tolkning.

Detta examensarbete är utfört på Möbelsnickeriprogrammet på Carl Malmsten - Centrum för Träteknik och Design i Stockholm. Om man som Möbelsnickare har ambitionen att utveckla och förnya hantverket är det nödvändigt att ha kunskap och kännedom om historiens hantverkstekniker och material. Intarsia, att med tunna träfaner skapa dekorativa mönster och motiv på möbler, är ett typexempel på en sådan teknik.I historien var det genom intarsian som tekniken att färga faner utvecklades. Vilka metoder och material använde man sig av förr? Hur kan en genomfärgningsprocess se ut idag? Hur kan genomfärgat material användas i ett modernt sammanhang? Kan genomfärgat faner vara ett verktyg för att utveckla intarsian och skapa något nytt inom möbelhantverket? Dessa är en del av de frågor som hanteras i rapporten.Syftet med examensarbetet är att undersöka vilken metod och vilka material som är mest lämpliga för att genomfärga faner i mindre skala.

The construction industry can contribute to a healthier sustainable community. A development that is going on right now is by using more prefabricated volume- and plan elements on the construction sites. Building with this method not only provides a benefit to the environment, but also reduces production rates by taking up to 80 percent less time to build. By building in this way it will be easier to recycle and keep all the material that otherwise would go to waste. The purpose of this work is to explore the artistic processes of an ensemble where a musician and one or more dancers play together, either by improvising or by interpreting music that is written for the ensemble. The main themes are about finding ways to work with written material and still keep the communication between the music and the dance alive. The author is also interested in finding ways of identifying himself in the medium of dance although he is a musician. The purpose of this essay is to present a thesis work that has been executed during a period of 10 weeks, as part of a bachelor degree in Graphic Design and Communication and also to present what has led to the design of a sales brochure for the freely distributed lifestyle magazine LKPG. The purpose of the thesis work was to examine the answers to the questions ?What does clients and local company owners want to achieve from their advertising in newspapers and magazines?? and ?How should a sales brochure for a freely distributed lifestyle magazine be designed to be at most advantage and out of most interest to its clients??. The work has been carried out through an competitors analysis, qualitative interviews, literature studies and a survey on the target group. The findings of the work are that the market of freely distributed  magazines, both nationally and locally, is extremely wide and has many similar competitors.

The freshwater pearl mussel Margaritifera margaritifera is an endangered species. To survive, the young mussels demand a fairly coarse bottom material containing an appropriate quantity of organic substrate to survive without suffocating. In order to estimate if a bottom is suitable for juvenile mussels, samples of the sediment are needed. To obtain samples a sampling device called the Mulv collector has been developed within this project. Bottom samples were collected from 18 stations in 4 south Swedish streams, Vramsån, Kling-storpsbäcken, Brönnestadsån and Bräkneån.

Syftet med detta examensarbete är att undersöka hur lärare arbetar med laborativa inslag i sin matematikundervisning under skolår F-6. Den inledande frågeställningen är vad laborativ matematik innebär. Vidare har jag undersökt hur lärare arbetar med laborativa inslag och vilken betydelse ett laborativt arbetssätt har för lärandet.Resultatet av litteraturstudien riktar sig till frågan vad laborativ matematik är och vilken betydelse det laborativa arbetssättet har för lärandet. Här finns även en beskrivning av det laborativa arbetssättets utveckling i historiskt perspektiv samt tre olika laborativa material som jag har kommit i kontakt med under min utbildning till lärare. Litteraturen visar att laborativ matematik är när eleverna får göra något med sina händer och sina kroppar.

The purpose of this thesis was to investigate whether publiclibraries language cafés can support or enable the empowerment of the participants. Empowerment means that the individuals ability to take control of their own lives is strengthened and that the individual becomes more independent. Empowerment also means that the individual takes part in a community. An important part of this is the language. I have developed two research questions: What forms of empowerment can be seen in the respondents' statements? What role do language cafés play for people from other countries, in terms of empowerment? The thesis empirical material consists of interviews whit five people involved in different languages cafes in public libraries in the city of Malmö.

When communications traffic increasingly turned into data, IP telephony became a disruptive technology for the telecommunication business. IP telephony was a hot topic when voice over IP services started to become available to consumers in the 1990s. The new technology changed the rules of the game and many new actors entered the market.The purpose of this study is to describe, study, and analyze how the business models of the Swedish telecom sector developed in the middle of the 2000s. The study is delimited to the Swedish consumer market for telephony.The study is built mainly upon deep interviews with 24 prominent persons in the telecom sector in 2006. To aid understanding, two telecom companies that have been chosen to represent different kinds of actors are described and analyzed more closely.

Since the role of the libraries as merely a place for loans has decreased, the importance of giving the visitors a total experience has increased.The aim of my thesis was to investigate whether a change in the sound environment at the library of Jokkmokk could generate more satisfied visitors, whether they are borrowers or use the library for other purposes. The change in the sound environment was to be effected by means of a background sound experiment in the magazine room at the library. Action research was used as a research strategy and observations and interviews as method to collect data.The experiment was conducted with two selected sounds of nature: birdsong and a rippling brook. The observations and interviews were executeted in three stages: 1. Without any background sound.

The aim of this paper is to take a critical look at retouching of medieval mural paintings inSweden. This is done by firstly examining the different methods of retouching, including thematerials used. Secondary it tries to answer the question of which intentions have guided theconservator?s decisions dealing with the retouching. The medieval mural paintings in Swedishchurches have three major functions today.

The aim of the study is to examine a book used as level-based teaching material, Denmagiska kulan (Wänblad, 2011), to analyse the progression within and between thedifferent levels, A, B and C, intended for use in grade 1. The material is designed so thatpupils at different levels in their reading development can share the same literature.Another aim is to study the connection between illustrations and text. This literaturestudy is based on both a qualitative and a quantitative method of analysis. Thequalitative method applies a readability analysis with the focus on the graphic form andthe language of the text. The quantitative method measures the LIX (readability index)of the texts.
