Strategisk/taktisk vägplan :

The purpose of this thesis was to create a strategic/tactical Road access plan. This was done by designing an analytical method which gives the Road manager a template to create long-term Road access plans. The analytical method will help to identify and appraise Roads to be upgraded and give information when it is time for building new Roads. The study method involved developing an analytical method. The method was comprised of five main parts: the harvest plan, analysis of the Road network, transport costs, quality and storage costs and finally, identification of investment alternatives.

Statistisk kartläggning av dimma längs E4:an mellan Helsingborg och Jönköping

Fog is a small-scale weather phenomenon that are fascinating to people. However, the presence of fog in Road traffic reduces the visibility and increases the risk of Road accidents. By the Swedish Road Weather Information System (VViS), the safety on Roads could ameliorate and Road accidents caused by fog and other weather hazards could be prevented. Fog is however a complex and usually local phenomenon, why fog formation generally is not easy to predict. For that reason, a statistical mapping of fog, especially along a motorway with high traffic volumes, could be useful in planning to prevent Road accidents.

Driftkostnadsanalys i väginvesteringsprojekt

During its lifetime, a Road goes through a number of different stages; pre-study,inquiry of the Road, work plan, documenting stage, building stage and operatingstage. The operating stage is the one that takes the longest time and costs themost. Those have a tendency of becoming unnecessarily high because the projectengineers don?t always take the management and maintenance prerequisites intoconditions. To decrease the management and maintenance costs, the Swedish RoadAdministration SouthEast has been in need of a work procedure that makes theRoaddesign engineers take the management and maintenance of the Road intoconsideration. This shall be achieved by a checklist where the most commondesigns that lead to increased management- and maintenance costs are compiledand listed.Through interviews with project leaders in management, the most commonproblems have been identified, analyzed and summarized under the headlineswinter-Road, vegetation, Road equipment and Road designs. To elucidate the problem from several points of view, interviews wereimplemented with project leaders in investment and Roaddesign engineers.

Att genom design effektivisera räddningsinsatsen för motorcyklister i trafikolycka

What if the emergency response directly knew exactly where to go and what to do if a Road accident occured? During the last ten years the number of motorcyclists in Sweden has doubled. Every year, more than 300 riders are seriously injured and over 40 die in Road accidents. Being found in time is critical to increase the chance of survival. The goal of this project is to use design methods to find a solution that enables a fast and adequate emergency response for motorcyclists and other unprotected Road users..

Upphandling av vinterväghållning

This report was undertaken at the request of the Management and maintenance department of Swedish National Road Authority (Vägverket Region Sydöst) in Jönköping. In 1992, the management and maintenance of Swedish Roads were laid out on external constructors. When putting out a tender for the work, the foundation is from a national set of rules which are in constant change. This report is limited to winter Road upkeep. The trend in the invitation for tenders is that it is moving from the more conventional executional demands towards the less controlling demands. The downside of functional, less controlling demands is that it is difficult to articulate how to measure them. The order authority therefore has to find ways to make sure to get what has been paid for.In connection to the invitation for tender of winter Road upkeep for 2005, the new set of rules, ATB Vinter 2003 was deployed. The main purpose of this thesis is to see which the big changes in the set of rules are and how these changes affect the organisation and activities of the constructor. It is also studied how the changes in execution is perceived by Road users and how it affects the possibilities of the constructor to come as a newcomer to a new area of administration.Interviews and examination of sets of rules has led to a list of a number of changes that the constructors feel affect their work in any sense.Views from Road users that have come in to the order authority have been scrutinized to see how they have experienced the change.

Produktivitet och kvalitet vid stickvägs- respektive beståndsgående förstagallring :

Nowadays the majority of the thinnings made in Swedish forests are done by machines, harvesters and forwarders. The most common model in thinning with a harvester is strip-Road operated thinning and stand-operated thinning with one intermediate passage between the strip-Roads. This study is a time study with some quality follow ups on a strip-Road operated thinning model, a stand-operated thinning model with one intermediate passage between the strip-Roads and a stand-operated thinning model with two intermediate passages between the strip-Roads. The machines in the study were a small harvester (Forestline MPM C90) and a medium sized forwarder (Timberjack 1110). The study was made in Litsnäset outside the city of Östersund in Sweden and was made during the autumn 2007. In a lodgepole pine stand six study units (0,6 ha) were thinned with the three different models, two study units per model.

Jämförelse av beräknad och verklig grundvattensänkning vid vägportar

Present master of science thesis has been carried out at the Swedish Road Administration consulting services (Vägverket Konsult) in Karlstad. The purpose of the study is to investigate how well the calculated drawdown of the groundwater table predicts the actual drawdown when the Road and railway gates at the studied sites are built. For this purpose the groundwater levels at the three bridges were measured during 6 months. The bridges in question are two railway bridges situated in Ölme and Ulvåker and one Road bridge crossing a pedestrian and cycling path in Lidköping. In Ölme the calculated area of influence was smaller than the measured one. It differed up to 30 meters, i.e.

Handlingsplan för rening av dagvatten från hårt trafikerade gator i Örebro

The main purpose with the project has been to approximate the magnitude of the pollution transport from the actual Road surfaces and to get an approximation of the possibility to collect the pollutants to reduce the load to the water and improve the water quality. The quantity of pollution transport from the most trafficated Roads areas in Örebro city has been calculated. Roads whith a traffic exceeding 10 000 vehicle/day. The study has been done with the calculation tool StormTac. Through analysis of traffic loads and Road surface, which together with a different kinds of parameters gives an approximation of the pollutant transport. The calculation has included some metals and other substances in the stormwater and has also included the present of suspended solids. Included the overall study, some smaller areas has also been calculated for the possibility to remove pollutants. The work also includes calculation for three different areas for stormwater treatment.

Tillit inom illegal e-handel. En fallstudie av marknadsplatsen Silk Road

Since the beginning of the internet the criminal world has used the medium as a platform for operation. This dark web is a domain where illegal sites are flourishing due to the possibilities offered by newtechnology. Net-based criminal activity is a challenge for society as it uses hard proof technologicalsafety measures to avoid the law. Silk Road is the most prominent example, an online illicitmarketplace where drugs and illegal substances are being traded based on conventional e-commerceconcepts. This paper argues for trust as an important factor for the survival of illicit online trade andapplies existing theories on e-commerce and virtual communities. To identify patterns of trust andcommon trust-based issues among Silk Road users, a netnographic study was conducted on the site?sdiscussion forum.

Ämnestransport med grundvatten i hydrogeologiska typmiljöer

Certain types of waste, e.g. bottom ash originating from municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI bottom ash) can be used as Road construction materials. A potential problem is the possibility of substances leaching out of the Road and spreading in the surrounding groundwater. The aim of this master?s thesis is to conclude whether hydrogeological type settings can be employed to, based on local conditions, provide an estimate of the probable spreading of these substances in the surrounding groundwater, and whether certain types of soils can be identified as being less suitable for the localization of a MSWI bottom ash Road. A hydrogeological type setting is defined as a mappable unit with similar hydrogeological properties.

Drivarens produktivitet vid lossningsarbete :

During the last few years the harwarder has developed from a prototype into a market product. Holmen Skog owns two harwarders and uses two more owned by entrepreneurs. In previous studies it has been shown that the harwarder was a slow and expensive forwarder. In this study the unloading at Road-site was studied. The goal was to describe the differences in time consumption between unloading two-sided or single-sided (only from side of the Road) and also the difference between unloading with three and four assortments in the carrier.

Wildlife Detection Network

Traffic accidents where wild animals are involved represents between 60 and 80 percent of all reported accidents, depending on location in Sweden. In a country like Sweden, with a lot of forest, there is always risk of a collision with a wild animal. Imagine if you, as a Road user, had the possibility to receive warnings when the risk of an accident according to statistics is extra high.Wildlife Detection Network is a wildlife warning system with an information service, which makes the whole concept unique. When an animal is approaching the Road, it is registered by sensors, and warning lights along the Road are lit to inform drivers of the potential danger. In conclusion, this is a direct warning to all drivers on the Road where the system is placed. When an animal is registered by the sensors, information containing time, date, weather circumstances and coordinates are sent to a database.

Tycho Hedéns Väg in Uppsala has evolved from being a through fare passage and highwayto the oversized Road frame running through the city it is today. At the present time, dueto the relocation of the E4 highway east of Uppsala, Tycho Hedéns Road creates a barrierbetween the north eastern area of Uppsala and the remaining parts of the city centre. TheRoad is designed to endure heavy traffic and high speed limits, generating a surrounding urbanarea were inhabitants are complied to follow the standards set for a high traffic-accessibleenvironment. Furthermore, the heavy traffic has led to the turning of both urban Roadsidesaway from the actual Road. The aim of this project and proposal is to show the possibilities ofhow the innate features of Tycho Hedéns Road can be used more advantageously to mend thecity area of Uppsala.

Epiphytic lichens associated with different traffic intensities along the highway E4

Inventories of epiphytic lichens on Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) were conducted at three sites in east central Sweden: along the newly build motorway (Road E4), along the old Road (Road 600) and in a reference site, to compare the effects of traffic pollution on lichen diversities. At each site, species richness, lichen mean sensitivity value (MK), air quality index of the forest stand/sample plot (LKI) and nitrogen impact value (N) were calculated and it was tested if there was any difference between the sites. Twenty-four species were observed in total, and Parmeliopsis ambigua and Hypogymnia physodes were the most common species at all sites. At Road E4, fewer lichen species were observed than at the other sites and this might be due to the impact of air pollution. The species richness at Road 600 was similar to that of the reference site, which might be explained by the improved air quality.
